Are grad nights good for seeing fireworks?

If grad nights are relatively lower in attendance, would those be better nights for seeing fireworks before leaving the park (assuming they do fireworks)? I am trying to figure out which nights to do fireworks and fantasmic, but am hating that they release the park hours so slowly!

1st, Grad Nights don't affect park attendance very much if at all. It simply shortens the park hours.

2nd, I'm not entirely sure that they hold fireworks for the public on days that have Grad Nights. :confused3 I'm pretty sure they have fireworks for the grads, so I don't know if they would do 2 firework shows in one night.

I believe they do fireworks at 8:40 on grad nights. That's when we are planning on watching them. There will be a hard close after meaning no time to shop on Main St.

June 3 and June 10 are Grad Nights, and the calendar has fireworks scheduled for both nights. :thumbsup2

Based on this year, and previous years, I think it's very likely that there will be fireworks scheduled for the remaining Grad Nights (June 16, 17 & 24).

Unlike the fireworks show at the MK at WDW, the DL fireworks show sometimes gets cancelled due to winds aloft -- see "HydroGuy's Fireworks Rule" (link). At DL, it's usually a good idea not to save the fireworks for the last night of your stay.

DCA closes at 6:00pm on Grad Nights, so there won't be any World of Color shows. And Fantasmic usually isn't shown on Grad Nights. I haven't been to DL on a Grad Night, but since there won't be any other shows to "split" the crowds, I suspect that the fireworks show will be fairly crowded.

HTH :earsboy:

We will be there from June 22 through June 26 (leaving at noon though). I'm not planning on seeing any nighttime entertainment on the 22nd b/c we leave St. Louis at 6:00Am that morning, so early evening for us. I have the three other nights to fit fireworks and Fantasmic in. I thought we'd do fireworks either Wednesday or Thursday and Fantasmic on Friday b/c we don't have to get up super early Saturday morning. With early morning on Thursday, didn't want to do Fantasmic on Wednesday. So we could do the fireworks on Wednesday or on grad night Thursday.

We went last June there were fireworks right before closing , I can't remember but it was around 8:30,8:45 pm.
DL closed at 9, we watched then exited as the grads were lining up.
I would say the fireworks were very crowded because it was really the last only thing to do before DL closed, mainstreet was packed because people were trying to shop before they had to get out too. I wouldn't in the future choose that night to watch fireworks if I had other choices :goodvibes
There was also a show for the grads at about 2am. :)

I guess we'll plan on doing fireworks on Wednesday night (with Thursday as a back up plan) and Fantasmic on Friday. Then on Thursday night we can get back early to the hotel (since that will have been an early entry morning).

This schedule is really weird. It looks like they are going to high season hours and entertainment the first week of June! Wow! In the past that has usually waited until mind-June. I wonder what is up with that?

Thanks for the link!

The whole thing is freaking me out. June 10th is a Thursday and grad night and they aren't showing MM that morning. I thought MM was only affected if the night before was a grad night? :confused3

When the schedule for early May was first put up there were a bunch of errors for a few days. For example, they had four days listed with MM lasting for 2 hours. And then they fixed them. Since they just got up the early June schedule it would not surprise me if something similar is happening. This all sounds too weird.

Thanks for the link to the calendar, but geez they don't even have mid-June up yet! On the WDW forum I've seen some post that they can see the hours for the end of the year already! ;)

DLR and WDW cater to different audiences. WDW has to post schedules that far in advance if they are going to allow ADRs 6 months in advance. Most visitors to WDW are on a longer vacation and of course many stay at one of the Disney hotels.

DLR caters more to locals and allows dining reservations 2 months in advance. Park hours and entertainment schedules do not change that much year to year at DLR.

:)
