Are FPs now tied to each person?

I've been reading up on the new digital Fast Pass situation in preparation for our trip in a couple of weeks, and I'm trying to understand if the Fast Pass is now tied to each individual person. Mostly wondering if I can pull Fast Passes for people in our group who won't be riding and have them used by someone else. So for example, my dad gets motion sickness and has to stay off many of the bigger rides, but is always happy to pull a Fast Pass and let one of the kids go again. Or you could previously pull FPs for toddlers who were too small to ride and let their sibling go, etc. Is that still possible?

Totally understand if it is, just trying to maximize our use of FP since we aren't getting MaxPass (too expensive over a 5-day trip).

I'm not sure when it turned over, but when we went a year and a half ago, FPs had a bar code on them and you scanned them and could give them away if you weren't going to use it.

Now they are nothing more than to tell you you're return time. the FP is digitally added to your ticket and your ticket gets scanned to redeem it instead of the paper FP.

Yep. Two teens in front of us got turned away because they just had the paper ticket, but wasn't on their actual park tickets. They said someone gave the FPs to them, but the CM at the ride said "that isn't a thing anymore on the new system". If they were to use and scan his ticket, they could get in. I don't know if that's a no-no (but really - who is it hurting?), but it would work.

I haven't tried to do the ol' switcheroo for FP tickets, but thought about it for next time because I go on a lot of rides with my daughter that my parents don't (I.e. Get four passes, ride once, go out and back into line with other passes). But I don't know if that would work for sure.

Yes, you can, you just need to use that persons ticket. I just went with my family and my husband and daughter didn’t or couldn’t ride certain rides, so I’d still pull 4 FP and my son and I just did the things twice. It IS attached to individual tickets but they don’t check to make sure the ticket you are scanning is YOU. I’m sure your dad would let you take his ticket to scan at the FP return line.

This. You need to use the person's ticket that the FP is attached to, so you can't give them away to strangers, but you can use FPs on tickets attached to non-riders in your party. They don't check the ticket in any way.

Oh perfect, that makes sense. I wasn't sure if it pulled up your picture or whatever when they went to scan it.

We still do this. DH and DD5 don't like RSR, so we got 4 FPs and DD8 and I used them all. We just had to hold onto all four APs to which the FPs were tied.

DD5 doesn't ride hardly any FP rides, so big sister always gets double rides as a result. DD5 prefers Pooh and Ariel. ;)

It makes sense that the paper FPs were turned away- the paper FPs now explicitly say that they're a reminder and that you need to have your park admission ready. Unfortunately, this means that people can't really do random acts of kindness and give away FPs to strangers because the system doesn't allow for it.

You should be able to use FPs for another person in your party as long the park ticket is scanned. All the CMs really care about is making sure the scanners turn green. Currently, it would take too long for them to also check ID too, and I have never seen them do so. (and I personally think it would be a ridiculous thing for Disney to enforce since it's not like you can really abuse the system that way.) Also, I know the parks don't necessary have the same policy, but I do know that at WDW you can give someone else your magic band/ticket for them to use your FP.

There are a lot of options on using a family member's fast pass: take their ticket through the line, take a copy of their ticket through the line, take a picture of their ticket on your phone and go through the line, or have their ticket scanned into the Disneyland app on your phone and scan it from there. You just need their barcode and you need to keep track of which bar codes are being used first. We recently bought AP's and on our next trip each kid will have a lanyard with a copy of their AP barcode. We'll keep the AP's and they can scan themselves into rides.
