Are FP+ still added the closer the days get?

Know this used to be the case, however wasn't sure if it was still. We just booked a last minute Dec 19-24 and no A&E to be had on any day and only one late night slot (which I did take) for 7DMT.

Will more open up along the way?

I can say with certainty this was the case last December and over spring break for us.

Just last week, a whole slew of Mine Train FPs among some other popular ones (not A&E) opened up for the first three weeks of November. This seemed to have happened without any rhyme or reason, and I believe it was the first time something like that had been noticed. This led many people to speculate Disney was going to experiment with something, but no one knows for sure.

I've read that when you reach the 30 day mark, they open some more availability for those staying off-site. We checked for 7DMT on the 30 day mark for us and did not find any additional availability.

It is extremely unlikely that Disney would add more FP+ unless some sort of test is going on. It is pretty safe to say that they do not add more to accommodate guests at the 30 day mark or the day of. People have to change plans last minute often, so the day before and the morning of you can get lucky and catch someone's last minute FP+ cancellations. You can keep checking everyday, but your best bet is to come across someone else's cancelled FP+.

You would think they would add more FP+ every so often for local AP holders that would like to plan a spontaneous trip, or for anyone for that matter.....

I don't know if more FP+ will be added by Disney, however people do change their plans (including 7DMT & A&E) so you might find availability if you keep checking since they might drop their FP+ for whatever reason.

Other than those 2, I found decent FP+ availability up to the night before/morning of (pre-park open), and we got a Be Our Guest dinner ADR the day before too.

Thx all! I agree it would be nice if they released some the day of. I will continue to look. Secured what I can for now. We were one of those that refused to wait 5 hours in line this spring for A&E so if I don't deliver yet again I will feel bad. We can do rope drop for 7DMT however I have read the A&E rope drop is still crazy long. Fingers crossed!

I don't think there's ever been anything official about this. There are some anecdotal reports that some have found availability closer to time, but there's no evidence that this is because Disney has released more fastpasses.

The mass release for November was (I think) an anomaly. There's a lot of speculation over what it may mean (if anything), but no answers.

I'm not sure the reason for OP's question, but I wouldn't bank on a late release of FPs. I would, for sure, keep checking though. You certainly never know!

The reason for my question was to get feedback on recent experience from those that may have been trying for fast passes and then on the day of or night before noticed that a flood of them were suddenly available.

We didn't have a problem booking them last Xmas due to it not being fully rolled out however when we went over spring break April 4-12 I can tell you for sure that they must have released more-they were all of a sudden available for Toy Story ( as an example) for numerous times whereas they were not the night before. Perhaps there were that many people canceling all of those time slots everyday all week long, however I didn't think that to be the case. I would check at midnight and then when I would check again at 6 am they were there-Multiple days in a row!

Update-they DID release more just now. Updated our time on Dec 22 and almost all windows available starting at 1130 am. Moved from 710 so now are not limited that day to a late 3rd fastpass.
