We are going to Disney next month. My puppy sitter is unable to care for my dog now. I was just wondering if any of the resorts allow dogs? I was thinking maybe the FW Cabins might? Also, does anyone have any advice on taking your pets with you? Do the kennels allow boarding overnight? This is our first vacation since we got our puppy and I am dreading leaving him. He is our child which I know sounds crazy. Just want to make sure he is in a safe place!!! :confused3

I don't think that FW cabins allow dogs. I think you have to be at a camping site in a particular area. I thought that I read somewhere that the Swan/Dolphin were pet friendly. You might check them. Good luck!

Check with the Disney kennels ,I know they have one at FW and one by the ticket and Transportation center ,sometimes I see people visiting thier dogs when I wait for the rental car guy by the ttc .

None of the Disney resorts are pet friendly, neither are Swan Dolphin. The Loews hotels at Universal Studios, however, welcome pets :). Our Shih Tzu received more welcome gifts/special treatment than our kids!

Unless things have changed, FW does have a loop that allows pets. Any chance you have an RV?

Only thr RV section at FW allows pets. The cabins do not. NONE of the Disney resorts are pet friendly.

You'd probably be better off boarding him somewhere at home. Have you checked with your vet about boarding facilities? It will cost you less than Disney kennels, I'm sure. And it would be less stressful for your puppy than doing all that travel. If you board him somewhere at home, they can keep him in a daily routine.

I agree; my parents once had their pet sitter cancel at the last minute due to illness. They consulted with their vet and he recommended a very good kennel in our area, that they use religiously now. I wouldn't recommend traveling that far with a puppy for the first time; it would be stressful for both you and the puppy.

The kennel at the TTC is a VERY GREAT kennel. My 3 dogs have been there many many times. If your pup is great at traveling and not stressed out by it, then I highly recommend that kennel. This is there website http://www.bestfriendspetcare.com/ctr_magickingdom.cfm

You have to call and make a ressie and have shots and a Corona shot. And take proof of those shots. (bordetella, kennel cough, rabies). They will walk and cuddle your baby if you would like. The rates are like 21.00 per nite if you stay at a WDW resort. The website will tell you all that.

Coming from a VERY small town that DOES not have a good kennel, I take my babies when no one will pet sit for me. I dont have an option like some to leave them in a nice kennel with a full staff. All we have here is 2 Vets that go and see your dog ONE TIME per day during a weekend, and that WILL NOT do for me. Thats why we take them with us!!!!!!!!!!!!

My yorkie was 12 weeks old when I had to take him with us to WDW. He did just fine and the CM's at the TTC kennel really took GREAT care of him. You have the option of going AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE to go see your pup, even during closed times. We would call at 2am and go give our yorkie his nutrical! :) IT was no problem at all.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I wish Disney would start allowing pets in some resorts. It makes it much easier.:yay: I think I may ask my parents to keep our pup...he is so full of energy and tries to dart out of the house when you open the door...this makes me extremely nervous cause they live on a busy road. Then thinking of boarding him makes me sad. What to do??? haha! I thought about just switching our reservation and staying at Universal but then we would lose the dining plan and I worked hard for those reservations. I guess I have a month to figure it out. Thank you for all the advice!!!

No offense, but I am glad that the resorts do not allow pets. I have a puppy as well and will board her while we are away.

Although your puppy may be good about housebreaking, etc - some may not and I would rather not stay in a room where the "not" has been...

Not to mention fleas and such that could get left behind.

check for a doggie day care in your area. Most of them do boarding and don't keep you dog in a small crate all day which lets them get there energy out by playing with out dogs. Some vets have the same sort of program as well. We take our husky to one about 2-3 times a week and whenever we go out of town, she's always been taken good care of!

1) I hope they do not.
2) The wife is highly allergic, as I am sure are many others.
3) It is impossible to get dog smell and dander from a room.
4) Not good going on vacation and having an allergy attack.
5) Even if not allergic, I don't want a dog on my chairs or bedding.

I wasn't trying to offend anyway. I don't think Disney would ever allow dogs in all the rooms just certain areas/rooms. We would actually take our dog to the kennel while we are at the park. We would only want to bring him to the room to sleep. We are good dog owners. No fleas, he has a potty schedule, etc.

WDW could do like Universal resorts....only have a limited number of rooms on seperate floors for dogs. Their dogs rooms are on the first floor only and you can always ask for a "non dog room".....LOLI dont see a problem with it. I would love it.

That would scare and worry the heck outta me knowing my pup was near a busy road and might dart out.....maybe you should kennel him anyway. Start him early and he will grow to get used to it. I started my pom when he was just a pup and he has no problem with it. HE is very very good. :)

ps...check your PM

If you are highly dog allergic you will have an attack anyway if the building has a shared vent system. They would have to completely seal the ductwork on that floor off from eveything else with a seperate unit.

This is our first vacation since we got our puppy and I am dreading leaving him.

Our neighbors have pets and they usually take a week or 2 weeks off in the summer. They leave their birds & fish with us, and the dog they leave at a local "pet resort". I think the dog probably enjoys the break -- gets to play with other dogs, new location, etc.
I agree with the PP who suggested asking the vet for a rec.

This is our first trip to WDW in Dec in a looong time that we are NOT taking our little yorkie with us. My MIL agreed to watch her for 4 days (if it were longer I would not ask her). She does not board well at all. We don't stay on site if we bring her tho, we usually stay at the Universal resorts or the Sheraton Safari which is right outside of Disneyworld. She loves to travel, is fabulous on the plane (it's only 2-1/2 hour flight) so this works out well. It is also the 2 of us so we spend time with her also walking her around etc. and I carry her in a bag when I go into stores, etc. I have boarded her for a few hours at the parks during the day, but that was it, not longer than that. Bc there is not someone there at those boarding facilities at night, at least I don't think there is, or they don't walk ur dog at night I don't believe, if ur dog is not great at boarding I really would just stay at the Universal hotels or another place that takes dogs, but that's just me. The Universal hotels are fabulous and we really like Sheraton Safari also, right outside the gate to the Disney area, and u can get great deals there, especially if u become a AMX Starwood member. :thumbsup2:lovestruc Anyway have fun!
