Are dining plans based on nights or days in visit?

We are staying 4 nights 5 days and have the make your way plus dining, and 4 day hopper. On our last day, our flight is at 7:30pm so I'm wondering if our dining plan covers that day since we check out at 11am. Anyone know?

We also are thinking of either a character breakfast at 1900 or lunch at DTD the day we leave. If not covered under dining plan, which would be more expensive?

Your credits are based on the number of nights you stay but you can use them up to midnight on the day you check out, so you'll be covered for breakfast or lunch on departure day.

We arrive wed, leave sun. So even if we use 1 table, quick, snack per person, per day, we'll still be covered Sunday?

No. You will have Sunday without any credits IF you start using them on Wednesday.

All of your credits are pre-loaded onto your KTTK room key. So you're staying 4 nights. A family of 4 will have 16 TS meals, 16 QS meals and 16 snacks to be used in any order on any day you wish over the 5 days you're at the resort.

If you think of 1 person getting 3 meals a day a 4 night stay will give them 12 meals. If you arrive wednesday afternoon, you can use 1 meal for dinner leaving 11 meals. 3 meals for thurs-sat per day are 9 meals. You'll have 2 left over for Sunday.. if you're leaving in the afternoon, you can have breakfast and lunch taken care of by the plan - so technically, all of your meals are covered.

If you're arriving Wed Morning and leaving Sunday night, you won't have enough.

Yeah we arrive at 10:30am, so we may have lunch, but def will have dinner. We will not have TS credits by Sunday but might have 1 QS each if we don't have lunch on Wed. What are my options? Can we use them toward TS and pay the difference?

How much out of pocket expense are we talking at say, 1900 or club may for character breakfast.

No, you cannot use a QS credit for a TS meal and pay the difference. If you have more TS meals than credits, the best option is usually to pay cash for the cheapest meal. Each peerson on the plan will have 4 TS credits, 4 QS credits, and 4 snack credits. These can be used however you choose from the time you check in until midnight of the day you checkout.

IF you're planning on DTD for that day, and IF you will still have a QS credit, then Wolfgang Puck Express is a great place for QS and probably the best value of it anywhere in Disney. You order like a QS, but they bring your food to you and you eat on real plates with real silverware, and it is all super YUMMY!

Hmmm I will check out that menu, thank you for the suggestion! I was hoping for a TREX reservation but nothing ALL week! :(

The other thing you can do is use 2 QS in one day and leave a TS for Sunday.

For example, let's say you're doing a day at Animal Kingdom, it normally closes by 6 or 7. You could do a snack for breakfast, a late QS lunch at AK and then if you're not park hopping, do a QS back at your resort. (If it's a value resort, you only have the option of a QS meal.) You've now saved 1 TS for Sunday

Oooh I see. The day we go to animal kingdom, we have dinner reservations at Epcot so Im thinking of doing both QS meals at MK on the day of AM EMH because the only TS available is liberty tree and it doesn't look the greatest. That might be a long day with just QS meals though? I guess it's all personal preference. So many factors.

Well, one thing you want to think of is don't waste your snack on something that's not expensive. Many things are considered a snack. A soda or water is a snack, but why use a snack credit on that when you can get a gourmet pretzel or something more filling.

On this dining plan, you will always have to spend some money as only 2 meals per day are covered, but you can minimize what you spend if you choose the right things to spend money on. And you don't have to distribute the credits evenly among the members of your party. If you're not in the mood for a snack that day, you can get an extra one for someone else. Disney doesn't know who's using what credit, just the number of credits you have left on your card.

When I've gone before, I've had several snacks left over at the end of my trip.. on the last day, I'd go to the gift shop and just buy a bunch of 'Disney' Candy to bring home.

It's funny.. the Disney Deluxe and Platinum plans are too much food and the QS and Plus plans are not enough. They need a 2 QS/1TS/1Snack per day plan.

Yes 2 QS would be nice or atleast offer a QS lunch option at table service restaurants. If tip isn't included, I don't really see what the difference would be for a cheaper lunch menu to be covered under a QS credit.

If you want Trex you might have more luck calling them directly. Trex is not owned by Disney, so calling directly is an option. Many people here have had success that way.

There is no way they can offer a cheaper meal for a QS credit at a table service restaurant. QS and TS or 2 very different concepts.

All of the Quick Service restaurants at Disney are like McDonalds - you order at a counter or kiosk, the food is put on trays and it is up to you to find a table and when you're done you clear your own table. There are a couple of slight variations in that at a couple of places after finding your own table the food is brought to you.

Table Service restaurants are full service places where a CM seats you, a server takes your order from a menu, brings the food and clears away your dishes. Some TS restaurants have inexpensive items on the menu, but the price point doesn't determine whether a restaurant is TS or QS. It's also the reason you can't use snack credits at a TS.
