Are cabs available at the parks or do you have to schedule one?

We're going Dec 3-8 and couldn't get a room on property. The hotel we're staying a shuttle but the times are limited. If we want to take a cab home from the parks are there some that just wait there or will we need to call.
BTW-to rent a mini-van for the 6 of us was $682 for 5 days.

They are usually available at the resorts and parks. If you can't find one find ask cast member and they'll call to get you one.

The cabs are usually in an area near the front of the parking lots. If you don't see them, ask a CM & they will direct you.

Yes they are available at all 4 parks. Just to note that cabs are not allowed at the front entrance of MK - they have a designated pick up & drop off area at the TTC. Youthen have to take the monorail over to MK.

You didn't mention where you're staying offiste, but be forewarned, if it's not very close to WDW cab fare is astronomical. I stayed offsite last May & took a cab when the shuttle wasn't convenient & it ended up being a few hundred dollars over the course of my trip.

Thanks for the info. We're staying at the Sheraton Vistana Villages on International Drive. I think it's about 6 miles. How far away were you staying?

To get to the MK, we just had the cab drop us off at the Contemporary and walked over. Same when we left, grabbed it at the Contemporary. Quicker than the TTC if you ask me.

I was also on I Drive, by the Convention Center. I don't know the distance between Sheraton Vistana & the Convention Center area, so you may be much closer to WDW than I was. It was about a 15 minute cab ride to MK & was $45-$55 plus tip one way to each park from there. There were several tolls along the way which contributed to the fare. Same cab fare to & from the airport. I don't use cabs at home so I was surprised at the fares, silly me thought they'd be more in the $25 per ride range!

Cshulte have you posted on the Dis transportation board? You might find some options over there. I've never rented a minivan, but the price sounds exorbitant. Good luck with your trip.

Will you have 2 drivers? It's a lot cheaper to rent 2 small cars than 1 minivan.

Hey there - you can pretty much count on rental prices coming down quite a bit as your dates get closer. I'd be shocked if you can't get a mini-van for less than 300 for a 5-day period, particularly when it is within 14 days of your trip. And yes, I am taking into account the recent rise in prices.

I agree with a previous poster that, although they say it is 6 miles, that is to the furthest entry point to Disney and the cost of a cab will probably be at least $40-50 each way.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I didn't even know there was such a thing as cab finder.

We'll look into the 2-car rental. Our first choice is simply to get closer. The package we booked was through Costco and that is their resort of choice.

We're hoping something will open up on property, but not likely.
