Are Cabbage Patch Kids "in" or is it just us 30 something's buying them?

Come on now, what do you think?!?! ;)
Let's see...I got her a Babies Asian girl and that was going to be it. Then I saw an Asian Cornsilk one - AND her name was Lily so I figured that was a sign. THEN I was at Toys R Us yesterday and they have those exclusive 6" ones so I bought two of those w/ the dogs.

Pathetic, I know. :rotfl:

BTW, if you're in the market Costco has the Cornsilk ones with an additional outfit in the box for $24.99.

Well, my dd is 6 (almost 7) and she has the new Cabbage Patch Baby on her Christmas list, so I got her one. HappyBratPack, did you get the Asian ones? I saw some on Ebay and I thought they were adorable! Of course, I'm in my 30's too! :rolleyes1

Santa is giving Molly a CPK for Christmas. She seemed to find them attractive at Costco.

I bought my youngest daughter one and she didnt seem to like it. She much prefers her American Girl.

I had a CPK. I thought it was the cutest thing EVER!!!! I named it Richard...and it was a girl.

We adopted a REAL CPK several years ago even though our dd never has been a "play with dolls" type child. We were hoping she would love this doll....errrr baby.... so much and give her lots of love. She really did not play with her all that much. She does still have her as we refuse to let her give her away. We paid over $200 for her I think about 5 years ago. We still can't believe we did that but we had such high hopes!! Dd did get her dirty enough to have to send "Sarah Elizabeth" to summer camp (where they repair and clean them) THAT was another $90!! WOW!!! Dd did think it was neat to watch the birth and name her and we used to stop at Babyland General in Cleveland everytime we drove throught here but now she does not een want to stop!! I have given up on her doing the doll thing. She is 8 now and has given away every doll she owns in the last couple of years except the CPK and we refuse to let that happen!!!!!

My DD6 thinks that the larger CPK is ugly but thinks the newborn ones are ok.She has played with her Bitty Baby since she was 1 yr old.She is now getting into the other American Girl dolls.

You're right, I keep trying to get DDs to like them with very little success. I even found my oldest's actual name (first and middle) - I wanted to keep it in the box to save it for her but she wore me down and "had to" open the box. Now, the doll is probably shoved under her bed somewhere.

Of course I must look at every doll to see if I can find DD#2's full name which is highly unlikely since it's a very popular combination and I'm sure it was done years ago. I still look though.

LOL!!! :rotfl:

Actually, my friend (a guy) had one (a boy CPK) when he was little and re-named it Muffin! We still make fun of him to this day.

I agree though that the cabbage patch kids are for us "older kids". I never had a real one when I was little, so my aunt bought me one of the anniversary editions a few years back.

I hate cabbage dolls .. lol :rotfl: .. I have high cheek bones so my brothers used to call my a cabbage doll when I was a child :confused3

I just have to LOL! This is so me! I'm 29 and had 5 CPK's as a kid. And when they came out again, OH MAN! I thought DD will love this! I bought her one last summer when she was 6 and she has since aquired 2 more. She doesn't really play with them though. Everytime I'm at the store, I look at them and the cute little outfits they have to go with them and want to buy them, but I know DD7 doesn't really care. I do remember being closer to about 8-9 when I had mine, maybe there's still hope?

Lily is so cute. Our Dossier went to china last week and we are now waiting. I have been on the hunt for the asian CPK myself. I wonder if it is just me who wants it. I will get it anyway. I am 30 too so maybe this is our thing.

Thank you!! :goodvibes The orphanage was supposed to take new pics, those I have are from last December! I can't wait to see what she looks like now.

Congrats on being DTC!!! It's such a huge step and I love the name Aurora Grace! I hope your wait goes by fast. I have a shorter time to wait and I'm about to go nuts.

I was surprised how many of the Asian CPK's I've seen around, I'm still on the hunt for the little baby boy one though.

Maybe some other DISers can do the same... :goodvibes
