Are BWV Awnings Gone ?

We did some pool hopping during our VWL lodge stay this past March. We noticed that all the Blue and White stripped awnings over the balconies had been removed. Yet, in March and November 2001 during our BWV stay, they were in the process of power washing the awnings.

Are the awnings now removed for good, never to return ? Or are they in the process of being replaced. We never heard anything about his in the Vacation Magic or on these boards. Any light on this matter would be appreciated.

Mom and Dad just spent a week in a one bdroom preferred view overlooking the quiet pool. One half of balconey (by the livingroom) had the awning while the part off the bedroom did not. We are figuring that room had just been refurbished. (we had heard from these boards that they were working on the rooms by the quiet pool) The awning looked new and we figured it was there to shade 1/2 of the balconies for the shade lovers. Not sure if this helps. On another note...they had an actual "wall" as opposed to a rod iron balconey. Boy was that nice, you could put your feet up and really relax while watching those firworks at MGM. does anyone know what thats about?

When I attended the BWV annual meeting over a year ago, they said they would be replacing all the awnings. I think they are replacing them as they finish the exterior work in each section.

Regarding the balconies, there are 2 styles - one is open with the rod iron railing, the other type is closed in. We've stayed there twice and had one of each. I liked the closed in one better too.
