Are bugs bad in October?

Just wondering if the mosquitos, etc. are really bad in October.
Do we need repellant in the parks?

i've been there in Ocotober 2x in the last couple years and never had any problem whatsoever. you'll be fine.

There are no mosquito issues at WDW.

Bugs are usually not bad like in the parks, however some time in October the love bugs come to visit, they don't bite! Just pests!
If you planning on going to the campground, I would bring bug spray there!!

I live here in FL...for some reason skeeters aren't a problem in the parks? Weird??LOL

In all the years I've gone to Disney I've never experienced any problems with bugs - I think they have an invisible dome over the parks or something! I live in the south and there's no way to avoid the mosquitoes and noseeums - but in Disney it's perfectly bug free!

Current bug report from Osceola County (well, my house anyhoo)...

No love bugs yet. They weren't that bad in the Spring this year btw. They should be coming in the next few weeks. They'll hang around for 2 weeks or so but, you'll rarely see them at WDW. Same for any other bugs, except lady bugs. WDW releases them to help fight the pesty type bug population. You will not need bug spray at WDW. (I've been a cm there during every month of the year.)
Now, if you're visiting outside of WDW say to take an airboat ride, nature hike, or something- dawn and dusk are the times when things-that-bite are at their worst.

Nope, you should be fine. I always go in October, and have never needed bug spray.

i have never had a problem with bugs at the parks, maybe on the golf course's but its not a bad idea to bring bug spray just in case

Sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but this is hot off the presses posted yesterday to the Camping Board...

If you're coming to the Fort in the next few weeks, wax your RV & vehicles to the max. The more wax the better.

OK - well someone has to disagree.....Due to my last experience in the MK during MNSSHP in October mosquito repellent is at the very top of my packing list!! Immediately at dusk I was attacked by those little blood sucking beasts!! We immediately went in search of bug spray only to find that it is NOT sold anywhere in the parks. Then we headed to first-aid hoping that they would have some sort of anti-itch cream to ease my misery - but they didn't have any. So needless to say our backpack will be stocked with both bug wipes and cortisone cream!!
