Are breakfasts at resorts big enough to share?

We are debating whether to bring good or have my husband and I share one of the breakfasts at Mara. They sound huge!

Depends on how much you eat at breakfast. For our appetites we find meals at WDW to generally be on the large size.

We eat hot breakfasts prob 30-40 % of mornings (usually only when we're having a late lunch cuz it's very hard for us to eat 3 meals a day when of course we grab a favorite snack during day. )... but DD (a teen) & I sometimes share the bounty platter plus a side. (I eat the small mickey waffle & eggs cuz she doesn't like those, we share bacon , she eats biscuit and most of potatoes...and she orders either extra bacon or a big muffin depending on what she's hungry for.) So certain breakfasts are plenty to split IMO. Now if she wants choc chip pancakes or me mickey waffles, we get our own :)

I usually share the bounty platter with DS 13 and it's sufficient for both of us. We also find that at most places, portion size is big and we could share lots of things and if it's not enough, we buy favorite snacks through out the day.

We always just grab a la carte items at the food court like an apple or cinnamon roll. Not really enough to share unless you don't want much. We use a snack credit.

The bounty platter looks to be 2 scrambled eggs, 2 slices of bacon, 1 sausage, 1 serving of breakfast potato, 1 waffle, and 1 biscuit. There are probably enough carbs to share, but not enough proteins. I'd order an extra side of eggs or bacon if I was gonna share. Pic on allears...http://allears.net/dining/menu/mara/breakfast

THIS.
I have been struggling with why these don't seem enough to share and i think it is because someone gets shorted on the protein... but they do have way more carbs than any one person needs. You can add a kids eggs and bacon to this and I think it would be a good meal for two adults. I'd want all the eggs and bacon and one of the various carb choices.

Totally agree. If I eat just carbs for breakfast I'll be hungry an hour later. We can usually get away with splitting a few bounty platters amongst us, but not a direct 1 for 2 people. It would be more like 2 and a kids meal for 4 of us or 2 platters and 2 kids meals when DM comes with us. We still ways seem to end up with extra biscuits or French toast though since it is so carb heavy.

Well, depends on 'who' you ask!! If you mainly depend on meals (not a big snacker or drinker between meals) then the meal portions IMO are definitely not 'huge'!! Dh & I are small people and not big eaters, but we never have an issue enjoying a 'full' meal (anywhere at Disney) by ourselves.

For example, the Bounty breakfast platter 'sounds' big on paper, but in reality it isn't much food - that's the smallest 2 egg scramble I've ever seen! Their portion on eggs is way off as I scramble two eggs all the time at home - or else they use very small eggs! :)

Some small children could share though, but again, our children were always hungry at mealtime and enjoyed their portions.

Have never understood how some people can use the words 'huge portions' of food and 'Disney' all in one sentence!! :D Maybe because of snacking/drinking between meals they aren't as hungry.

Most of them wouldn't be enough to share for us, but I guess that depends on your appetite. At our resort last time the waffle meal for example was 3 Mickey waffles with a couple pieces of bacon. Instead I ordered the kids waffle, which came with two waffles and side of bacon and grapes w/ a drink, and then got a side of oatmeal to go with it. My 5 year olds ended up with an allergy altered adult size version of the bounty platter and they were able to eat every bite except for some of the potatoes. Sharing would have been out of the question for them.

Like pp said it sounds like a lot more than what you are actually getting. The plates of food are really rather small IMO.

DH and I shared all of our resort quick service meals for both breakfast and dinners. Maybe we lucked out with the egg servings but I only eat one egg at home each day so it seemed like plenty for us to split. For a couple of breakfasts, we each ordered a kids meal and that was plenty. The CM's were very accommodating about giving me an extra plate.

Some places will let you substitute options to get a more balanced meal. I usually am successful subbing a biscuit for extra eggs. Then we order a side of biscuits and gravy and it is enough for 2 adults to share.

I agree that it really depends on your family and eating habits. I have teen aged sons and a DH that loves breakfast. None of the plated meals would be enough to share for us. In fact DH often gets the bounty platter and adds an extra side of sausage. That being said, we usually hold off on lunch until around 1:00 when we are ready for an air conditioned "sit and eat" break. So our breakfast gets mileage each day!

ETA : At home we go through 10 eggs when we make a cooked breakfast. DH and DS1 eat 3 each and DS2 and myself eat 2 each. We generally have sausage or bacon (not both), toast and potatoes. But that's generally a no-school day breakfast!
