I see lots of pictures of the Wonder but not much showing the pools that I know must be beautiful! Anywhere else to look to see them?
Thanks!
Cruising soon! 1/26/03:Pinkbounc

The pools I've been in (Quiet Cove and Goofy's) are both fresh-water. I'd assume the kids pool starts out that way, but I don't know that I'd classify that pool's water as "fresh".

Not sure where to point you for pictures of the pools.

I do not think that is a silly question at all! When I went on my first (and only) cruise with Carnival, I was so excited! The only thing I knew about cruising was what I had seen on the "love boat" - I LOVE to swim - maybe I was a mermaid in a previous life -

I was so disgusted when I got to the pools - All were filled with sea water! They were green and gross - I thought - OK, maybe we will just go in the hot tub - NOPE - same thing - It was really gross - Now, by now means am I a germ freak - but you really had to see it to believe it!

So knowing that, I was expecting the same thing on the Disney Cruise. I just assumed that all cruise ships did this -

It didn't look like seawater to me - Clear as day and heated. If it is seawater, than it is nice seawater -

I can't answer for DCL specifically, but most cruiselines pump in sea water to fill the pools. Some, however, run the water through the desaltinization systems, so it turnes the sea water into drinkable water. All of the drinking water on a cruise ship is actually sea water that is treated. It is done so efficiently that it actually turns out to be cleaner than bottled water!!

I believe they are all "fresh" water on DCL. As far as seawater pools, I have been on 8 other ships which fill the pools with salt water afer being at sea, I have never seen anything that wasn't put in there by people. I have not seen aglae, seaweed, fish, sand, NOTHING. If you are in a pool and see something you don't think should be there, please tell the pool attendant or any other ship person. The pool will probably need to be drained and cleaned before refilling. Pool sanitation is high on the list for those lines carrying US Passengers.

this is one thing that DCL does better than Carnival for sure. Fresh water pools are a big sticking point with my ten year old!

i swallow as much water as I swam in and I can tell you short of the things we don't want to imagine it was "fresh" water.
:snort, snort:

when are you leaving for your cruise?

DCL uses sea water and treats it so as to become fresh. The CM pool on board, however, is not treated. They also use sea water and desalinize it to use as drinking water on board ship. This is supplemented with some fresh water being brought on board as well.

I do not know it this will work, but I have tried to paste a link here to some pictures posted by another DISer... I think there are some fantistic pictures of the pools here!!! Perhaps taken upon embarkation, before any crowds were there.

Cut and paste, or type, the address below into the address bar on your browser and see if it works... Sorry it isn't coming thru as a link? But I gotta run for now.

edited to add: Hey, it is a working link! Best shots yet of the pools.

Many seasoned cruisers will tell you all pools are seawater...because most of the older ships did use seawater. DCL uses freshwater ( and heats it )...I understand most of the newer ships are now going the freshwater pool route as well.

I cracked up at Castaway Cay when a 10 or 11 year old boy near us jumped in the water and came out sputtering "this is salt water!!!"
