Are 4th of July fireworks good enough to determine what hotel to stay at?!

We are checking into Poly Concierge for 7 nights on FTP on July 5th. Our flight arrives in late afternoon on July 4th. We don't want to pay for Concierge or UPH for the 4th because we will only be there for the evening. We just wanted a room only reservation and we made one at Beach Club so we could experience that area and SAB for one night.
Now I'm hearing that the MK fireworks are so good that everyone is scrambling to get to see them. We had figured we would see plenty of fireworks during our stay so that we wouldn't worry about seeing them on 4th of July. Are the 4th of July fireworks that much better than the regular ones? Enough so that we should change our room only reservation to a MK hotel?
I would appreciate any input from those who have been on 4th of July before.

The fireworks are pretty spectacular....but shortlived. I have been there for the New Years Fireworks and it is pure pandemonium. I agree that you will get your chance to see fireworks during your trip. (We make it a point to see Illuminations at least 4 of the 7 nights we are there) so we enjoy a good show. But given the absolute chaos on New Year's I would never be in the parks for that again. If it were me, I would just enjoy your time at SAB (maybe you will have it all to yourself in light of the fireworks...hehehe) and get your fill of fireworks the rest of your stay. JMHO

The fireworks are very good. I think you need to decide how entertaining you find fireworks. I am guess that you will be paying about $350 a night for your room if you got a great discount. With that in mind do you think that you enjoy fireworks that much? If your answer is yes than by all means check into the Poly and you will ha a great seat for a wonderful show. If you are on the fence with that I would say that you are correct you will see lots of fireworks during your stay and they will be enough. Why don't you just make a dinner reservation or go for a drnk at the bar in the lobby?

First of all ive been to mk on the 4th and i must say your a brave soul.lol i wouldnt do it again. but the fireworks are very good. the parks stay open late that night and in my opinion the place to see fireworks is inside the park.we watched the fireworks at epcot which were fantastic.only problem is which park to view fireworks from. all of the parks almost go off simultaneously.

The cost of the room isn't really a factor because we could get a room for the same price as we are paying at Beach Club. I thought of going to dinner at one of the restaurants, but then that kind of defeats the purpose of staying at Beach Club for one night. I guess my feeling is that if I am going to try to see the MK fireworks, we would switch our reservations and try to stay at a MK hotel. I guess what it comes down to is, do people think we would be crazy to be at WDW for 4th of July and not see the fireworks?? Or will we enjoy being at BC and the Boardwalk area and still see plenty of fireworks during the rest of our stay??

truth is no matter where you are in the disney area you will see fireworks so enjoy the bc area. actually now that i think of it you may have views of multiple shows.

Fireworks on the 4th -

Hi onthego103,
From what I have read on these boards, there are special fireworks at EPCOT immediately after Illuminations that are supposed to very good. Sorcery in the Sky firewoks are also presented at MGM Studios, which are highly praised. As you know, you can get to either of these places by foot or boat from the Beach Club. I hope this info helps you, because it has not done one bit of good for me!! You see, we are also arriving on the 4th - BWI - and cannot come to a decision on where to spend the evening. In addition to the MK show, Spectromagic runs twice that night. Can always flip a coin!! Bob

Thanks, Bob! Are you going into the parks the night of the 4th? Our situation is complicated by the fact that we won't have park entrance until the 5th. It just seems like too much money to spend for a family of 5 when we wouldn't get to the parks before 7:00 PM. So, I am trying to figure out how to spend the evening without park entrance. My options seem to be to stay at the BC and not worry about seeing fireworks, or staying at a MK resort and seeing the fireworks from the resort.

I have been in MK during the 4th of July fireworks years ago.....
We swore.....never again!
It just wasn't worth the crazyness....being all crammed in there, etc.
If Epcot has fireworks....stay at BC. You can walk up to the bridge by the International Gateway and watch from there.

Have a great time!!!

Onthego103, I think you could take a monorail or bus over to the MK entrance and see the show from there (without entering the park). You might also see from the path to the Contemporary. Then you could go over to the Contemp (or Poly or GF) for dinner. The fireworks on the 4th are what a CM called "perimeter" -- they shoot them off all around the lake. I think anywhere around there you can see them. We watched them last year and they were really special. It was crazy-crowded but fun to have been there once for July 4th.

Fireworks -

Hi, again, onthego103, As cindyfan posted, you can stand on the bridge between the BC and Boardwalk and catch the higher shells from Epcot. We have done that in the past for seeing Illuminations a second time. Actually, as the 999thghost said, you might get to see some of two shows. Sorcery in the sky at MGM is scheduled for 9:00PM and Illuminations plus extra fireworks starts at 10:PM. As of now, we will probably go into Epcot for the day - we should arrive at the BWI around noon. Have a most magical trip!! Bob

You will love the firework from Beach Club, and will be able to see most of them from the bridge at either end of the resort. You will see more from the bridge over near the Swan, since it is farther away. But DO NOT, under any circumstances, leave your resort on the fourth of July, unless traffic jams and a crush of people, is your idea of a good time. I have gone to Disney every year over the 4th for nearly 20 years, and it only gets worse every year. You can see the higher fireworks from all the resorts near Beach Club. If you stood on the boardwalk in front of BW, the fireworks from MK will be directly ahead over the top of BC, Illuminations is on your right, and MGM's will be behind you, in back of BW. The fireworks are everywhere on the 4th, so don't miss it, but you don't need to pay for tickets to see the show. Going over to the MK on the 4th is a sure-fire way to insanity at a record rate!! You will wait HOURS to get a bus back to your home resort, and the roads are so clogged, that you are speeding along at an alarming 15 mph all the way home. And you can't even go on any rides! Insanity! Relax at BC, and see the fireworks from there, or just ignore the whole thing by getting a late dinner at Yachtsman Steak House:p
