Aquatica - Close due to over capacity?

On the website for Aquatica, it mentions that they could close it if the park has reached it's limit. Do they do this often?

Has anyone been turned away? If so, how early did they start turning people away?

We are planning on going the last two weeks in August, so I'm assuming it's going to be very busy at that time. I'd hate to get there and be turned away.

Any suggestions and info would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.:)

It depends as much as when school re-starts as how hot it is. Generally, on days when school is out in August, expect it to be closed by 11 (or even earlier on weekends). Once local schools start up, still busy, but not to capacity.

Unfortunately, I have no idea when school re-starts this year.

Hhmmm.... Just wondering if you know when school lets out for this school year. We are planning to visit mid-June on a weekday.

This may be a strange question, but do they just close the parking entrance or the actual entrance to the Park?

I remembered a few years ago, we went to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon and I overheard someone mention that when they reach capacity, they close and post signs at the parking entrance, but if you took the Disney buses, you were allowed in since they don't close the Park entrance.

Just curious, since there is a good chance we will just be walking over.

They do it differently at WDW. They close the park in 4 or 5 levels. The first level is closing the parking entrance, so that's why you could get in with the bus. :)

a friend of ours came back last week from a 2 week holiday. they tried to go on one of the days and got turned away. that was early am.

We have AP's to Aquatica. The park can close to capacity very early. Last summer one day that we were there it closed by 9:30am. I-drive gets very, very congested with traffic. We were able to get in one day and our friends did not, they were still sitting in traffic.

Now, maybe someone else can answer this. Last year they would open the park up an hour before the scheduled opening for AP holders and other tickets that advertised this early entry. Last month we went early, and they did not open at 8, but at 9 for the normal park opening. So, do they only do this during the summer and how do we find out?

We were very dissappointed in how often they endup closing to capacity and how full the parks get, so we also purchased the Disney WP AP as well for this summer.

Here's the phone # for Aquatica - call this before you leave your hotel. It will tell you if Aquatica is at capacity or not. This is also the phone number that is displayed on the large electronic sign that they place on International Drive when Aquatica is at capacity.

The recording will say one of two things:

- Aquatica is at capacity and is expected to re-open at ________ (seems like it's usually around 3pm)

or

- Aquatica is currently open
