Is there anything for older people to do at Aquatica? They don't swim or do water slides.

Just wondering if they will want to go since we can get a Aquatica, Sea World, Busch Gardens ticket for about the same price as a Sea World/Busch Gardens ticket.

There is a sandy beach area with chairs if they want to just sit and veg out.

You mentioned that they don't swim...the wave pools are both zero-entry (meaning that you can just walk into them, you don't need to step down into them like a pool). This also allows people to walk into the wave pool and then 'sit down' in the shallowest part; it's a very gradual slope into the deep end. Do you think they might enjoy just sitting in the water?

There's also a kids area that is very shallow that would allow them to sit down in the water but I don't know how relaxing it would be with the kids splashing around (as kids will do) :)

Another thing I think you have to consider is just how old you are considering old. Some grandparents are not real old. Are we talking 40s,50, 60s,70s,or older? Can they stand to be in the sun for long periods? Can they stand to be in the heat of Florida for hours at a time? do their meds for cholesterol/blood pressure or other type meds have warnings about being in the sun or heat?

There are some shady areas but not a lot of shade. Sometimes it is still almost unbearable in the shade if there is no breeze and I can attest it seems worse as you age. In my 40s and early 50s I was a summer camp director and outside everyday all summer but I could never do that now at 60. Sometimes I find being in a regular park all day in the summer very hard so tend to hit in the cooler times of the year more. I still find waterparks fun, but I swim and stay in the water. For someone who does not swim it might be rather boring unless they like to people watch.

I suggest dropping them off at SW and letting them tour SW at a relaxing pace where there is lots of air conditioned areas with chairs/benches while you all go to the water park, then meet them for supper and the evening shows at SW.

Thanks for the information. They might be interested in the wave pool, I'll have to ask them. They're 60-65 years old so they'll need to stay cooler some how. We will have 2 vehicles though, so they could always head back to the resort of just go to Sea World. We'll all be visiting that park together too though so I'm not sure how long they'd want to stay there.

We haven't done Aquatica yet but my DM70 does TL and BB with my DD10 and myself(51) and has a great time! She does do the wave pool, lazy river, and the raft rides. None of us do the body slides. We all have a wonderful time. :cloud9:Personally, I don't think 60-65 is that old but a lot will depend on their physical health.

If you think it'll be too rough on them then I second the idea of SW, at least later in the day. They probably won't want to miss seeing the grandkids having a good time!
