AP's to get 20 FP+ per quarter

Varying opinions, naturally. Probably even moreso as it hasn't actually started in its normal form yet. I did make reservations with the spring discount for room only. I almost did the package but then I remembered I would have to cancel more than 5 days out. I really want to see what they are going to do about the fastpass+ thing before I make a real committment. I realize a PP said they loved getting to ride their favorite ride at Universal many many times over with no wait . I would too. Who wouldn't? But, I was on the other side of that equation this past spring break. My sister had surprised us with tickets to Universal. For the full day we only got to ride 5 minor rides. Due to Universals front of the line type policy the line for this Dr. Seuss type ride was close to two hours long even though it was posted as 30 minutes. Not having known I'd be going to Universal I hadn't researched it and couldn't understand how the line could simply not move yet the ride wasn't "down". It wasn't until I got closer to the front and saw that when anyone got in that other line (front of the line) as long as there were people in that lane they just got to go straight on and we had to wait until their line was empty (which hardly ever happened). I was shocked. I wasn't shocked at the people who were in the FOL line because that is the policy I later learned. I was just shocked to be standing like a bunch of cattle in a pen, like the money my sister paid for the tickets wasn't good enough to have a decent park experience.

If Disney goes to that some will love it and that's fine for them. I love riding a ride over and over but if I'm riding it 10+ times without slowing down while others are waiting, barely moving, after paying for expensive park tickets I couldn't enjoy it.

We'll see what happens. I won't be angry. Whatever they decide is up to them but if some of these things come to pass I will just enter a different phase. After all, when they took away my Godiva Chocolate store I switched over to Little Debbies. Saved a TON of money, LOL.

Have to hit the road for several hours so hopefully my post is benign since I won't be able to post for a while.

You might not see this for while or ever but I just wanted to say that you apparently only see such lines at Universal during busy times. We've been several times now and have only stayed onsite once. We have little trouble riding what we want to by planning our day and using single rider lines when appropriate.

Some have mentioned that Disney wants people to spend extra time shopping and dining and just "smelling the roses". That might be fine for some visitors but we don't all tour the same. We all have preferences as to how (and when) we want to enjoy WDW activities and sights.

Besides wasn't there some mention of some dining and parades and so on being included in the Fastpass+ system too? If that comes to pass we might all end up running into each other in the Emporium for much of the day.

Another thing, I can't see leaving those who stay offsite out of this or charging them a fortune to participate. Many who visit WDW stay offsite for budget reasons or size of family reasons or whatever. It seems bizarre to expect many of these people to fork over even more dollars to potentially get fastpasses for four rides each day with some of them not even being headliners. If any in fact. Offsite visitors already have the potential to spend more on passes and dining and certainly extras such as parking. I bet that Disney makes a good bit on them already and I can't see them wanting to potentially cause them to possibly spend their vacation dollars elsewhere.

All conjecture, I know.

But can they price all these new perks accordingly to cause people not to take the bigger, less expensive rooms off-site and come on site...?

Because once all the Space, Splash and BTMRR slots are gone, people will need something to choose from.

I'm sure HOP is one of those "under-utilized" attractions Disney is hoping will become more popular when they "nudge" people away from the big Mountains.

Exactly. And if FP+, someday, is the only alternative to the standby line, then what will off-site folks do? Will that be enough to draw them back on?

Again, this is all speculation since we don't know exactly what their plans are yet for this new (expensive) technology...

it seems that they are wasting a lot of money putting these everywhere. The whole FP plus illusion is based on this. They are all in. This does crack me up. Is there one for the movie in France.

The idea of scheduling fastpasses for attractions like the HOP and the riverboat is ludicrous! I have nothing against those attractions if no wait is necessary but the idea of those possibly replacing Splash Mountain or the Haunted Mansion...

And at that point we take ALL (rather than just the accomodations) of our vacation dollars elsewhere. And I know I'm not the only one. Will we go back, sure. But it may be once or twice more in our youngest daughters lifetime rather than every 18 - 24 months. We simply don't want to stay in sub-standard hotel rooms for twice (or more) the price we could pay for an offiste condo (or house) that is much nicer than the Deluxe resorts. I simply can't believe that this is what Disney wants. That is why I find it very hard to believe that off-site guest will be excluded from the FP+ "experiance"

To clarify I consider the value resorts Substandard The rest are just overpriced

They make you use the RFID FP+ option if you want to LEAVE the attraction.

I wonder what Disney's ROI business case was with FP+/NextGen and if that made more sense then the money spent at IOA on World of Color and Carsland.

I suppose that once the FP was completely eliminated they could use extra FP+ tickets as a way to get guests to stay onsite rather than giving room discounts or FD. Would that be enough to make people stay onsite? Say something like offsite guests get 4 per day, value guests get 6 per day, moderate guests get 8 per day and deluxe guests get 10 per day. You could even have different booking restrictions on the number of e-ticket rides you could book in a day depending on where you stay.

All I know is that the new FP+ system does not sound like it is going to work well for me as we only decide the night before which park to hit the next day, we make very efficent use of the existing FP system by using the mobile Disney app to see wait times and FP return times, like to go on the same ride multiple times in a day and don't bother waiting in any standby line longer than 15-20 minutes.

Now if only they let you use the FP and FP+ both at the same time, then I'd love it.

As far as the OP, it is just a rumor. There is no official information on ANY quantities for anyone at this point.

It appears to all be pure speculation based on the current testing of 4 FP+ per day, picking from groups. Couple that with some of the limited things published in the T&C in the My Disney Experience portion of wdw.com.

As for AP holders to only get 20 per quarter, the OP came up with that one and I don't believe he ever sited a source...
