APs are coming

Why does every announcement from them have to leave me feeling disappointed? Between this and the paid fast pass, loss of free magical express, I think we will start banking/borrowing more often rather than going yearly. Just once I wish they would announce something that is an improvement, rather than a new way of getting every last penny out of us.

I swear the sticker shock keeps hitting me freshly each year as the price goes up yet again. That last price increase on the platinum AP was a real doozy.

I just emailed guest communications asking for this pass to be extended to dvc owners. We won’t buy passes at the new rate. I’ve hit my price threshold. Resort only stays going forward with the odd park day every few years.
Quoting myself here. I notice this post has a lot of likes. If you are a dvc member and you’d like access to the Pixie Dust pass, email guest satisfaction and member services. We need to give them feedback. May not help, but it can’t hurt.

40% increase on top of everything else.

Last month I didn’t know if we had enough points. RIV won’t be $201 for forever! Now I wonder if we have too many.
Exact same boat. I was planning on adding on before the end of the year, but now I’m just thankful I don’t have to pay dues on more points than I already have. Regretting buying dvc at this point but thankful that my contract isn’t too big.

Yeah. Our ap days are over. Going forward will be resort only stays. Maybe one park day every few years. I’ll rent points to pay my dues.

This seems to be a case of be careful what you wish for. We have a few unused non expiring tickets and then I think we're done. You can only punch somebody so many times before they say enough is enough. ENOUGH!!

I'm assuming that since there are FL resident prices anyway, there's likely no special DVC discount to come. They are what they are. Is that the general consensus?

One of the perks of being an AP holder should have been no park reservation required at all. Certainly for the upper levels.
If it’s no blackout dates then make it no blackout dates. Don’t be like a hotel chain I know that says no blackout dates and makes one room available for when you want to use points. I don’t use that hotel chain anymore because I can’t use my points!

Wow what a perk. Park reservations to actually use the park ticket you purchased for a thousand dollars.
You're really paying for a couple of perks: forecasting and availability.

See, with park reservations, park management are able to better forecast demand per park for any given day. Plus, they can can availability by segment to shift supply towards a more favorable guest mix - for example, away from APs and toward out-of-town guests.

I mean, these aren't perks to YOU, but at the end of the day it's really only the shareholders who matter, right?

One thing's for sure. If I do buy APs in the future, I certainly won't be adding PP to but one pass. My family can wear my band when I'm not there and use it for PP. That should be a 'family' option anyway. It always has been.

I guess if I still want to go at Thanksgiving like we have for 20 years, I have until Sept 8 to renew my currents APs already in their 30 day window. I would think they would have to honor the current no blackout dates on Thanksgiving if I renew them to the current Gold passes.
