April Showers Won't Stop the Mighty Ducks!

The less-than-steller-weather has decided to stick around.

Sorry, Augie, but I guess its time for me to 'fess up. Remember about 2 weeks ago, when it was sunny and beautiful and we hadn't had any substantial rain for a while? Well, I got it in my head that it was the right time to schedule to have my sorely-in-need roof redone. I have a very old house, with lots of gables and separate roofs to deal with, so it is going to be complicated and the roofers need to have at least 3 days of non-rain in a row to do it. I am not exaggerating when I say that within hours of me speaking to the roofer to schedule this, the weather forecast changed dramatically, so that there have not been 2 clear days back to back since. And it looks like this coming week is also a wash-out. Maybe I should do us all a favor and cancel the roofer so we can see the sun again?

On a side note, do we report miles on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and last day of the month? Or on saturday evening/sunday morning for the prior week? I'm confused, as usual. :confused3 However, I am looking forward to reporting my miles because I have definitely gotten back on track. I have set myself a secret goal for this month, and so far, so good. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone is enjoying better weather than Augie and I are, and gettign a chance to go out and enjoy it!

Liz I believe its Dark Helmet from Spaceballs may the Schwartz be with you.

I've also been running in the rain. Don't know about the rest of you but never liked the rain to run in.

You girls just like the Volleyball scene :lmao:

Have a great weekend ducks Rich.

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

The mixer starts here...

Variety is the spice of life, so they say. (But don't ask me who they are, although I suspect they work for McCormick. :confused3) With that in mind, this week's mixer question is:

What types of XT do you like to do, and why? What are your old favorites and new discoveries? What kind of XT would you like to try?

Anecdotes and pictures are welcomed. I think we'd really like to hear about the benefits of your XT--physical, mental, social. Does it create a stronger core or more flexibility? Does it help you de-stress? Is it something you enjoy with your kids, partner, friends? It might also be helpful to know how you work XT within your walking/running schedule.

Extra points for XT activities that are unusual or have funny names or rituals. As determined by popular vote. And in case you're wondering, those points have no monetary value whatsoever. (I'll make up other disclaimers as I think of them.)

I am guessing that my last quote was way toooo easy. So I am going to try another one to see if you all can get this one. Let's have some fun with it.

Calling me Sir is like putting an elevator in an outhouse. It doesn't belong.

Note Remember that we post our miles and time on the 7th, 14th, 21st and the end of the month. So with that being said, I hope everyone is doing good and is ready for Tuesday's postings. Hope to see everyone on the Mixer tomorrow!

So every month are on those dates, regardless of where the dates fall in a week? If thats the case, I've been doing it wrong, but will make the change and try and get it right from now on. :goodvibes

OK, I guess I reported a little early there, I thought we did it on the weekend.

Erica, I know what you are going through with scheduling things dependant on weather. The last time I did a roof (many years ago) of course it started to rain while I was halfway done. Sounds like your job is a little more complicated, and if my present house needs a roof iwill be calling someone also. I hope the weather co-operates with you! I rode to work this morning, and am hoping for no rain today.

I think you have an answer to the quote, Bryan. That one I got. Never got the Top Gun ones.

Have a good week! And hello to Aayla:)

Hi, Team

READ THIS POST!!

Reporting each month is for the days 1-7, 8-14, 15-21, 22-end of month.

It hasn't been confusing until now, because for Feb and the first 3 weeks of March, that coincided with Sun-Sat.

To me, if we are going to have a monthly total. it is easier to make a cut-off at the end of the actual month than to have weeks flow into the next month. Though, if that is easier for some of you, I can do that, but then the monthly totals will be whack. Or we could forego a monthly total and just keep a year to date total going. I can be flexible on this, but we all need to be on the same page.

Please let me know what works best so I can re-configure the spreadsheet if needed.

I've been out of town at a race, so got behind on updating....but the good news is that I have done my first triathlon since the surgery and it went ok. :goodvibes

Also....if anyone knows where some of our "lost" teammates are, let Bryan know. They are adding some people to other rosters, but it looks like we have a full roster, even though definitely one person, and sort of 2 or 3 more have been absent for a few weeks. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but if they don't want to be included, we could be adding some new friends. :)

Sorry,:guilty: I'm one of the long lost team members. Just haven't had alot of computer time lately. But I do have my times:goodvibes and my birthday is Oct. 9.

3/15-3/21--14 miles and 4.5 hours

3/22-3/31--26 miles and 8 hours

Good morning, Ducks! It is the 7th so i will update my hours. Got two more days of riding in, (and I do anticipate riding home) so my new totals are 90 miles and 5.5 hours. You can transfer 25 of them to Liz.

Looks like the weather is turning for the better, I hope your roof job is going well, Erica.

How about a quote?
"I understand you're a man who knows how to get things"

Have a great day, folks!

I have to say, I am pretty excited to report this week, and a little pleased with myself. I seem to have finally gotten my big lazy butt back into gear, and actually made it to the gym every single day of April so far (now I've just jinxed it. Oooops).

through 4/7:

miles: 75.9
minutes: 7 hours, 15 minutes

Betsey, please give 25 of my miles and 2 hours to Liz.

Hope everyone else is having a good April so far.

Hello, my movie-loving friends! I know the movie but I won't answer because I don't have an inspirational movie quote to replace it--does "I drink your milkshake!" count? :lmao:

Really, though, I wanted to pop in and let you know that there's no big rush on your updated roster. I'd like to have it, of course, but we haven't really begun replacing inactives quite yet. We've been trying to fill up the Rebel Alliance soi its numbers match the other teams. If you have a few drop-outs, and your team numbers between 16-18, you're about even with other teams. So if you could just send the update when you get a chance, we'll make sure you get into replacement rotation. No pressure and no rush. :goodvibes

Oh, and Erica? Great job with the consistency! Keep it up, or I'll have Vic box your ears. ;)

Okay, I'm getting the hang of the reporting thing....

305 minutes
23.6 miles

I'm good with the 7/14/21/end of month. I just didn't understand it.

Ronda

"I understand you're a man who knows how to get things"

Ooops, I forgot about the quote (thanks, Deb). Its from the Shawshank Redemption.

Oh, and in other exciting news, we are going to brave it and start the roof tomorrow! I'm a little leary because they are talking about rain on friday again, but we'll do it in small sections and hope for the best. There are actually a few sections that don't need to be done because I climbed up there and did them myself over the last few years. But I couldn't bring myself to do the big work on the steep parts that have a 3 story drop into the shrubbery! Though given the economy and what the new roof is costing me, I've been sorely tempted. The center area between the two chimneys has a very small slope, and i actually love going up there to hide from my family by pretending to be fixing shingles....

Which brings me to my movie quote. It is not inspirational, but its always resounded with me, and even more so after being trapped inside with lousy weather the past few weeks:

Look I probably should have told you this before but you see... well... insanity runs in my family... It practically gallops!

Hey Everyone! It's mixer time!!!!!

We are having a mixer! Jack has once again shown up with an idea. Tomorrow we ALL want to know what your very favorite movie is. I don't mean just a movie you like! I mean the ONE movie that you would choose to have on a deserted island. Just you and the movie!!!

And as long as we are talking movies, what goes better with a movie than the perfect snack??? Tell us about your movie snack. Maybe you do something that is just so kewl that the rest of us need to try it too!!!!

So, choose your movies well!! You are stuck with 'em until you are rescued!!!!

Evening Ducks Well I thought maybe I would be able to put the heavy gear away. That was a grave error on my part. Old man winter decided to drop about 6 inches of snow on us last night. They always say if you don't like the weather here wait five minutes.

Miles
Running
56 miles
10 hours

Biking
120 miles
6.25 hours

Walking
9 miles
3 hours

No idea on the movie quote Have a good week. Please give Liz twenty miles and 2 hours. Have a great week Rich

I'm perfectly okay with the 7th, 14th, etc.......just took me a minute to wrap my mind around it.......what can I say...........I'm O.L.D., and change is challenging. :rotfl:
My hours/miles ending 4/7/09:
335 minutes 14.3 miles

Hey Team!!! If I knew where to find an embarrassed smilie, I would probably post about 10 of them. I feel like I have been slacking on my duties around here and I apologize for that. Work and life has been getting the better of me recently and I must say, I have been feeling spread out pretty thin. It's a daily cycle. Home, work, gym. Then, repeat. Then, repeat. Can we say that I am in a rut? Rut, rut here. Rut, rut, there. Here a rut. There a rut. Everywhere a rut, rut. :confused3 (sorry, that just slipped out.) Just to give you an idea, I have been working 25 of the last 26 days. Someone needs a vacation. Anyone have any destination ideas? :rotfl2::thumbsup2

On another note, it looks like everyone has been doing a fabulous job. The effort, the wonderful interaction, and the incredible support for your fellow teammates. :worship::worship: What you all do for one another is extraordinary!! The way everyone has chipped in to help one of our own, Liz, while she has been down. I know it has been theraputic for her but it has done a lot for me as well. I don't know if I can put it into words or not but I know everytime that I see another generous gift, comment or positive post, it makes me proud. We are all different in many ways and varying reasons but we are all the same in many ways also. I guess the only thing I can say is Thank You!!!

Now, for my miles for the week. This week was another down week for me. Not because I didn't put in the time but because I was very focused in last minute preperations for Saturday's jog around the track. So here we go.

Miles - 60 (Please give Liz 10 miles and 2 hours)
Hours - 17 (Told you I have been putting in the time)

Next week will probably be another low one since I am tapering now and will have to see how I feel afterwards to see when I get back into the gym. But I will be back and with full avengance!!!

As far as the quote, I know that line but I will have to think about it. I can't remember which movie it was in right now. Hopefully soon will it pop up.

Keep on Rockin' Ducks!!
Bryan:cheer2::woohoo::cool1:
