I just remembered that I'd promised Julie (goldcupmom) that I'd host the April exercise challenge since she'll be tied up on some grading projects, and assuming that no one else was interested in hosting.

Since I don't see a thread for this month yet, I figured I'd start the thread.

The challenge is on. And it's a challenge by you to you! Challenge yourself to do "x" number of minutes of exercise this month and then JUST DO IT!

Post here as frequently as you like and I will start a list in this post and keep it updated as frequently as I can throughout the month. As you post, please tell me how many minutes you have through that date and what your total challenged number is. For example "I did 60 minutes on the treadmill yesterday, and am now at 60/1200".

As you reach milestones for the month, your name and total will change color in this post.

At 10%, you'll be bright pink
When you reach 25%, you'll be orange
When you reach 50%, you'll be purple
When you reach 75%, you'll be turquoise
At 90%, you'll be red (because you are on fire!)
When you hit 100%, you'll be WISH green!


So, let's go, everyone! Post your self-challenge, and I'll make the list here, and then let's watch the list change color!

I did 20 minutes of walking yesterday at DH's 1/2 marathon. My total so far is 20/1200.

I'm in! Although I tried for 1000 last month and fell very short, so I'm going to decrease by 200 minutes. That might be more attainable for me. Is it wrong to decrease in these challenges? I hope not, but my April goal will be 800 minutes. Good luck to everyone!

Is it okay for me to join you ladies? I've never participated in any sort of challenge or actual advertised commitment and think it would be very helpful to have some sort of accountability. So, if it's okay, put me down for 1200 hours for April, please. I'm doing a cleanse until Wednesday, so may not be working out those days. So I'll get started on Wednesday.

I've only participated in a few challenges, but these people on the WISH board are very welcoming and supportive! You'll enjoy participating in the challenge!

I'm in! Although I tried for 1000 last month and fell very short, so I'm going to decrease by 200 minutes. That might be more attainable for me. Is it wrong to decrease in these challenges? I hope not, but my April goal will be 800 minutes. Good luck to everyone!

Great job, Kristin! For whatever it's worth, I think it is MUCH more important to set a goal you can strive toward than one that defeats you. I know you are the type of person who, if you reach 800 before the end of the month, will continue to add minutes to your total accomplished, showing that you topped your goal, rather than becoming sedentary. I can't wait to see you get to 800!

I would like to join in!! I always find myself saying I am going to exercise more but rarely do. This is a cool way to keep me on track. Also, we leave for WDW on May 7th so this is a good way to pass the " I just want to be there NOW" feeling!! I would like to do 1200 minutes of exercise in April. Right now I am at 0.

Happy to have you here, Vicky!!! The more the merrier, and new challengers are always welcome! Be sure to keep track of your minutes every day and report whenever you can, even if it is only once a week. I'll try to update every day, though I won't be able to when we are away to see "Newsies" on Broadway.
 
I'm in. My goal for this month is 1000. I'm going to try to do more than that but my mom is having hip replacement surgery in a couple of weeks and I'm not sure how that's going to go.

This will be my first time trying this, but I am in. This will make me accountable for my actions this month. I am signed up for a 1/2 marathon in May but just the thought of running endlessly during training to reach that goal is exhausting.

I will try for 1000 minutes...Go Accountability!!!

PS: thanks Cam for all the encouraging words, I wasn't going to workout today but I came home from work and DH kept DD occupied while I worked out!
