April 8, 2006 Western Magic Cruise

Good Tuesday Everyone,

Started the cruise shopping this afternoon. Gap Outlet had a very handsome orange plaid shirt with a surfer embroidered on the lower left front. I got Kate a dress for formal night from Talbots. Nothing for me yet.

Polly, your daughter and Brett will have something in common with your daughter. Brett receives First Communion in May too.(No princess dress this time around.) Kate and I had a great time shopping for her First Communion Dress. I think she tried on every FC dress in northeast PA. :rotfl2:

Have a great evening,

Pocono

PS Can't wait to hear about Everest!

What's up Va?

That's funny. Abby tried a lot on, but we knew all along, the poofier the better. She started by trying her sister's on, but it was too small. She was very disappointed, so I said she could get whatever she wanted. Thank Goit didn't cost me a fortune. She does look absolutely beautiful in it. Now we have to try and find a veil. No luck yet. have you got your son's suit yet?
It is such a special day for them. :sunny:

I also have a confirmation in the fall. At least that is pretty low key at our church.

I haven't begun to shop for me yet either. I'd like to lose weight first, but just don't have the energy to put into it. I have to have dh try on clothes. he's put some weight on and I don't think anything is going to fit. :scared:

Enjoy your week off

Lori

We went skiing this past weekend in West Virginia (Snowshoe). Dh and DD had a great time despite the cold (-7 in the am).

DD and I bought a few clothes at the after holiday sales but not much else. DH has a nice suit and we are still debating if we want to rent a tux for formal night.

We have been very busy with school activities - first strings concert last week; a few big projects, etc. I am hoping to start pulling things together soon - we cruised in Dec so I already have shhorts, bathing suits, etc.

Hello everyone!

Vavasmon - you are one brave woman with that kind of cold!

Anyone get their girl scout cookies yet?
I pick up ours for the troop on Tuesday. Hope to get most of them out of the house on Wednesday!

Just a little over 6 weeks to go! Are you packed yet?

I everyone

Got my girl scout cookies on Tuesday and they are gone already. I still have more that will be coming, but my family devoured the first batch. We spent last night at the SU vs UConn women's basketball game. It was girl scout day at the dome. My dd15 performed at half time. It was a good time for all. :cheer2:

We have started getting clothes together. Hopefully this weekend I can get out and get my dh some pants. He usually lives in jeans, so I'd like to dress him up a bit. He won't wear his suit except for formal nights.

My kids want pirate stuff so I have to try and find something for them to wear. pirate:

On line registration is up so I registered all of us. Still wondering if we are going to Cozumel or not.

My week off is almost finished. I've got about 75% of my house fully spring cleaned. A little more to go.

Have a great day.

Lori

Hi Poly -

I read another post about on-line registration. What is this? Is this instead of handing in your paperwork at the port? If so, this is great news!

Thanks!

UMTerp

Hi Um,

You go on Disneycruise.com log in and then go to my cruise. It is one of the options now. They had on mine that they wanted all forms filled out by 4/5.

The only thing I didn't do was put in our passport numbers. I didn't feel like digging them up and I know they have to check them upton check in any ways.

Good Luck

Lori

Hi Poly!

Thanks for the info! I had no idea they were doing this now. I'll have to go and check on mine. Hopefully, that will help with checkin lines! That's great!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good morning everyone!

We go to pick up 96 cases of cookies today!!!! We are getting close to the 30-day mark! That's when I will really get excited. I can't wait for the warm clear water and warm breezes!

Have a great day!

Hi! We are also on the April 8th sailing. We are WDW vets but this will be our (me, DH, DS17, DD13) first cruise. I'm gathering so much helpful info from these boards. Thanks loads for all the tips! We have the first seating and are booked in cabin 2579. We are arriving in Orlando on April 7th and spending the day at Epcot. We'll be at the Dolphin that night and then drive to the port on Sat. morning after having breakfast at 1900 Park Fare. I'm looking forward to meeting up with some DISers!

Good luck with the cookies Polly & Um. Our 5 girl troop sold 975 boxes of cookies this year. I paid our bill yesterday. How much does your council charge for a box of cookies? We're still at $3.00 Thank goodness. I don't think the locals would be willing to pay more than $3.50 a box.

Winter has returned to the Poconos this week. Snow flurries and ice is predicted for Thursday morning. :crazy2: We've all been sick the past couple of days. I can't bear another trip to the doctor's office. :guilty:

Any word on Costa Maya or Coz?

Poconoboatniks

Welcome Chuch, Glad to hear you will be sailing with us. 1900 Park Fare Wow Enjoy! What a nice way to kick off your cruise! :cool1: Have you made your Palo ressies yet? DH is salvating over the stollen with strawberry preserves and whipped cream. I love the chocolate souffle! :thumbsup2

Have you cruised any other lines? We have only cruised on DCL. DH is afraid he'll be disappointed if we try another cruise line. We love the western ports of call. DH especially loves Key West. I like the extra sea day on the eastern.

Pocono

Welcome chuchubipretu! Nice to have you with us! Yes, try to get a Palo ressie if you are interested. Brunch is the best, in our opinion, but the souffle is wonderful too! If you have any questions, a few of us on this thread have been a number of times (some even on the Western before) so ask away!

Pocono - your "little" troop did great! Ours cost $3.50 per box. It's starting to be a harder sell. Oh no, more snow! I hope we don't have any more here. It pretty cool now but supposed to be 60-64 on Thursday! No, I didn't notice that we had become veterans - how cool is that? I knew you and I were pretty close on post counts. Congrats on your promotion to a veteran!

I haven't heard any word on Coz vs. Costa Maya vs. Nassau. I really would like to know something so I can start making some type of plans (or not). I hope we don't go to Nassau. I haven't heard that much great about it, although I haven't been myself. Hope DCL won't keep us waiting too long!

Done packing yet?

UMTerp

Edited to add: Pocono, what does your DH like so much about Key West? That was our least favorite stop last western. What's your secret? Share with your friends!

Hi Everyone

Still snowing here. Can't wait for warmer weather. My kids tell me we leave town in 36 days. I am so ready.

DS had a wrestling match tonight. He did great. He pinned both times in less than 30 seconds. Coach seemed very pleased. One more match, the big end of the year tournie. I hope he does good. DD has been at school every night until 7. She's in the school musical. It's 3/17-3/19.

Chuch- your kids are older like mine. Maybe they'll see each other in the teen room. Mine are dd15 and ds13 and dd7.

Our cookies are also $3.50 per box. My dd is brand new to the troop so she didn't sell by herself she sold with my neighbor. It was more fun that way anyways.

My neighbor went to the dollar store and picked up pirate stuff for all the kids on the cruise for POTC night. Cute stuff and cheap. Penny's also has pirate baby tees for the girls. 7.99. My dd15 is really into this. pirate:

not done packing yet, but I have started getting things together. DH needed new pants. I'm glad I found that out now and not a week before.

Stay warm and out of the snow. We'll all be baking in the sun soon. :cool1:

Lori

Just wanted to say Hi all.

I bought some eyepatches at a clearance sale for 25 cents each. I am still debating about the rest of "pirate" clothes. I hate to admit I still have part of a suitcase packed from New Years - I am now considering that our head start. 38 days to go!!!

I also just want to know where we are going to stop. I know what I want to do in Cozumel or Nassau but for Costa Maya nothing has jumped out (I don't think we want to do a runis tour) - DH and DD want something water related.

Any of you vets ever used a taxi to get from the Raddison instead of their shuttle?

UM cookies arrived at work today.

Poly - congrats to your DS! That must be alot of fun for your DD to be in the school production! Congrats to her too!

Vavasmon - we stayed at the Radisson once and took their shuttle. It was painless and fun because we met another DISer on board!

38 days! Hooray!

UMTerp

First time cruiser. Can't wait! Staying at Mariott Courtyard at Cocoa Beach the night before. Struggling with excursions. Doing the Atlantis submarine at Cozumel. Suppose to do 7-mile beach at Grand Caymen. But 2nd guessing that one. Staying on ship for Key West. Palos res.--done! Spa--booked.

Any thoughts for a first time Disney Cruiser?

Welcome Lori!

My family did the Atlantis sub in Coz on our first cruise. We loved it!
We also took a taxi to 7 mile beach and loved it too. The only thing that was a problem was a pretty big drop off at the beach. It got deep fast for my little one. Are you traveling with kids? If so, what are the ages? I have a DD (8) and DS (11). Do you have early or late seating for dinner?

My advice is to realize that you won't be able to do everything on the ship that you will want to do the first cruise. Good reason to rebook!

Have a great day!
