April 6, 2008 - 4-night Spring Break Cruise - Anyone else going?

Hey, Tania, welcome! My DS7 (Turns 8 in May) will be thrilled to see more boys! I also have a DD9 turning 10 on the cruise! Can't wait to meet everyone!

Only 36 more days til we leave for our Disney vacation!

I am so excited about our up coming cruise. I went “cruise” shopping this weekend. My DH says that I need to relax. He says that I am starting to annoy him.  I am afraid that the next 5+ weeks are going to go by very slowly.

What sure excursions is everyone doing? I decided to book my DS 13 on the Wild Side shore excursion on CC. I was a little reluctant but nervous that if I waited until we were on the ship it would be full. I have not read anything bad about the excursion. MommyMinnie is your DD going to participate in the Wild Side?

I also booked a banana boat ride for my DS 13 and DS 8. I was wondering if any of you know if an adult has to go with them on the banana boat.

Last question for now, what are everyone’s plans for pirates night? I can’t decide how “all out” I want to go, if at all.

Counting down the days,

Tania

Tania, the only shore excursion I have booked is the Cabana Couples Massage at CC. It is kind of my present to my DH as he is not a fan of Disney (yeah, I know).

I have so many secrets I am trying to keep from my family I am going to burst! So I can tell all of you - my kids don't know that they are going on a cruise (they think we are spending a week in Disney). They also don't know my parents will be on the cruise (my kids miss them so much because they spend the winter in FL). My husband doesn't know we have matching Tiki Mickey outfits to get on the cruise (Ha! He'll absolutely hate that!). AND, I have asked my step-daughter (DH's daughter) and her DH, and DD (10 mos) to go with us. I told her I will pay for the cruise if they pay airfare and any other expenses. They are letting me know today. I hope they come. She is 29, and DH doesn't get to spend too much time with her anymore. They were very close, so I think this would be good. Plus, it gives her a little time away since they just had their baby, and haven't had much of a break. I hope they come! I have asked them not to tell their dad! :woohoo:

SO, shhhhh! Please don't tell my secrets! What happens on the Board stays on the Board, right?

As for pirate night - I have some pirate bandanas and a hat, and I am planning on getting frilly shirts, some swords, etc. I have an eyepatch. I don't know if i will do much more since DH is not a fan of dress up. I'll do it for the kids, though. Anyone else here have plans for Pirate night?

Oh, well, my dreams for a big happy family have been dashed - my D-step-D isn't comfortable travelling with a 10 month old, so she won't take me up on my offer. I wish my MIL had offered to take me on a cruise! :confused3

The food alone would have convinced me to go. :rotfl:

OK, I've been doing some counting:

38 - number of days until we board ship!
9 - number of girls from DIS going on this cruise, ages 5-13
8 - number of boys from DIS going on this cruise, ages 3.5 to 13

I think we are going to have a blast! My husband doesn't want me to talk about it anymore. He doesn't know how I get so much pleasure out of the planning part of a Disney trip. Of course, he is neither a planner, nor a Disney fan. That should have been a question on the form I made him fill out before we got married. I guess he didn't read the fine print. I hope some pixie dust strikes him down while on the Disney trip. Somebody needs to make a believer out of him! Magic? Anybody? :wizard: :tinker:

We booked the Aquaventure for Nassau but that is the only excursion we booked. For CC I want to just relax and enjoy the beach. We may rent some snorkel gear or float once there but I'm not sure the water will be warm enough for my liking.

As for pirate night we have pirate t-shirts that we bought last year for the Pirate & Princess party that we will use again. I don't think I would be able to get my boys to "dress up" so I will take baby steps on this and see how it turns out. Maybe next cruise they will want to go all out.

I'm sorry they didn't take you up on the offer. Y'all can adopt me and take me on your next cruise ;)

Wow on all the secrets you are keeping from the family! No wonder they aren't nearly as excited as you are.

I guess it's her first child?

Guess What!!!

It turns out the family down the street from us will be on the cruise with us! Our daughters figured this out on the school bus. How funny is that? So DS5
will have his best friend on the cruise. Any worries about him not wanting to go to the kids clubs are gone!

The only thing we have done is the package at CC which reserves the snorkle gear, bikes, and floats. We may not even get off the boat at Nassau. Also, CC is our big beach day.

We're in the same boat (sorry, had to do it.) There is a good chance we won't get off the Wonder in Nassau. I am hoping to do some of the things around the ship that day, and on our day at sea. Our CC day is pretty wide open, with the exception of feeding the stingrays at 10:00 am.

Have a great weekend!

Brian

Hi, I'm new to this but wanted to give this a try. This will be our first cruise. My DH and DD10 will be joining me on the trip. We hope to see you all on board.

OK, well I'm really a novice to the forum "world" but we too will be going on the cruise the 6-10th. I noticed that several of you are from Atlanta/ Marietta, etc... so are we (I haven't had time to really go through all the posts yet). I guess we all have the same idea for Spring Break this year! I'll be there with my DH, DS 8, DS 6, and DD 3. We went on the 7 day cruise in 2003, but haven't been back since. We are also going with my mom, dad, sister, future brother in law, grandmother (90+) and aunt. My kids can't wait! We're not sure where we are staying the night before.. Maybe the Residence Inn...

Welcome Nanna & Warcholmom!

If your interested we are planning to meet and introduce ourselves on boarding day around 3pm by the Goofy Pool. My picture is in my avatar so maybe I'll be easier to recognize.

DS6 is so excited about meeting others his age!

Greetings to All!

In just 4 weeks and 5 days we will all be experiencing the magic of the Wonder. I can't wait. My two little ones are super excited also. I decided to tell them about the boat drill. My 5 year old is terrified of loud noises. He took it rather well. He said something about jumping into the water. Too cute.

Is anyone trying to lose a few extra pounds before we set sail? I am scared that I am going to eat too much. I plan on taking the stairs instead of the elevators. That seems to be a good suggestion from the boards. Well, I'll be in touch.

I've been talking to avid cruise-goers from Weight Watchers. The trick is to remember that while there is a lot of great food on the cruise, not all of it is that interesting. Don't take anything that you can get at home anytime. Also, when at a buffet, grab a soda first. It's harder to grab food if you have to balance a drink.

If none of that works, forgive yourself after and take off whatever you gain.

I would like to think I will have control, but hey, we're on vacation.
