April 6, 2008 - 4-night Spring Break Cruise - Anyone else going?

I'm also a newbie but I'm up for a meet, door decorating, fish extenders, etc. I would love for DS to make friends and maybe actually go to the clubs (he is on the shy side).

Our plans have yet again changed around a bit....
Poly before the cruise (April 4th & 5th)
Cruise (deck 6)
Contemporary after the cruise (April 10th & 11th)

Mrs. Tigger - how can I add the official list to my siggy like you have it?

Hi everyone!

I'm not sure how much decorating, LGMH, fish extending activities we are going to do. We'll do something, I'm sure, but it may not be very organized. I do think it would be fun to get together, though!

The DCL buses should be the ones we'll be on from the resorts to Port Canaveral and back. I'm excited to ride the new ones!

We're also on Deck 6: 6058 near the elevators.

Have a great day!

Brian

OK, being new to DCL, I have been lurking on the boards and reading about fish extenders. Yah, I had no idea what they were, but my question was answered when another newbie asked. So, are we on the April 6th cruise going to do fish extenders? And if so, how many of you are, and what sorts of things do you leave for others? I had been planning to bring a few items anyways, and have already started planning our family's pirate costumes...so, are you up for it?

Okay, I'll bite (sorry about the pun):rotfl: .

What are fish extenders? :confused3 That is the first time I've heard that one.

I had the same question about a month ago when I cam across it. I'll try to find a "real" explanation, but here's the basic idea. The room numbers next to the stateroom doors are in the shape of a fish. The extender is usually something that hangs over the fish so that other DISers can leave gifts, et cetera. You can see a thread about these at:

OK, so I am really thinking ahead here...if I book a cruise while onboard this April sailing, I get a 10% discount, and an OBC, right? I am thinking I would like to book for May 2010, so my question is, how far ahead can you book? And since I am not up on the new ships being built, will there be a new ship for that date? Any suggestions?

I've heard that if you want to change the date of your cruise once you book it this way, you still get the discount price. So if you can't book that far ahead, you can always book earlier and then change it.

On the other hand, We booked this cruise 18 months out...

Hi everyone,

I've heard the same things. If you book while onboard you get the discount, then you can change the date later. The key is to not change who is cruising. For instance, on the DIS podcast a month or so ago they explained that you can't book just one person (to only pay for one reservation) then add three others; you have to book the full number of people that you plan to have go. You can also have the reservation transfered to a travel agent if you want, as well.

There are a couple of threads in the general DCL Forum about how all of this works, as well.

I had thought about booking while onboard to get the discount, et cetera. But I'm not going to have the money to buy all the wonderful goodies on the ship AND book another cruise. :-)

As for the question about the new ships, the first is supposed to be delivered to Disney in 2011 with the second arriving the following year.

See ya in 46 days!

Brian

Thanks for your help! Is it OK to book more people, and then cancel the booking if they can't go? I was going to book my step-daughter's family on the cruise for 2010, too. I know I will have to pay the deposit for them, but I am assuming I will get it back if I cancel for them?

So excited, only 44 days til our trip to Disney!

We will be on this cruise too! I haven't read through all the post yet but here is our info:

Me
DW
DD 12
DD 10
DS 3 1/2

Not sure where we will be before. Probably in Orlando going to a water park. Afterwards we are at Port Orleans, Riverside.

Welcome!:cool1: I've added you to the official list (see link in my signature).

If you end up at the Radisson before the cruise, a few of us are planning to meet at the pool that night.

I'm sorry, but I don't know the answer to that. It might be worth a quick note or call to the folks at DIsney Cruise Line or your travel agent to see if they can clarify.

When Jon and the DIS Unplugged podcast team talked about it recently, it sounded like you could change the dates you wanted to cruise, but any changes to who was cruising might trigger a significant enough change that you may not get the discount. But again, please check with DCL, Dreams Unlimited, or your travel agent.

See ya real soon!

Welcome dlaushey!

We are beyond excited up here!!! Big ice storm is suppose to hit this afternoon and I need some warm weather and sunshine.

I know those staying at the Raddisson are planning a meet the night before. But, how about a meet on board before we set sail? Say something like the Goofy Pool around 3pm? Will everyone be on by then?

Goofy Pool meet sounds great - anyone know when those arriving on DCL buses from WDW arrive? From reading the boards it sounds like we are near last in arriving...?

We will also be joining you all on the Spring Break Cruise. I am extremely excited about our upcoming cruise. This will be our first cruise. We live in Florida so we will be driving to the port on the day of departure. My DH, DS 13, DS 8, and DS 5 will be on the cruise with me. Tania

:welcome: Welcome to the group! My 5 year old boy will be happy when I tell him you are coming.:dogdance:
