April 6, 2008 - 4-night Spring Break Cruise - Anyone else going?

What sure excursions is everyone doing? I decided to book my DS 13 on the Wild Side shore excursion on CC. I was a little reluctant but nervous that if I waited until we were on the ship it would be full. I have not read anything bad about the excursion. MommyMinnie is your DD going to participate in the Wild Side?

Last question for now, what are everyone’s plans for pirates night? I can’t decide how “all out” I want to go, if at all.

Counting down the days,

Tania

DD isn't booked for the wild side. If it's available when we get there and she want's to go then we'll book it. She's just not interested without more information.

OK, so I am really thinking ahead here...if I book a cruise while onboard this April sailing, I get a 10% discount, and an OBC, right? I am thinking I would like to book for May 2010, so my question is, how far ahead can you book? And since I am not up on the new ships being built, will there be a new ship for that date? Any suggestions?

You can book as far out as they have announced cruises. For us it has been about 18 months. If that is not far enough in advance you may be able to make a "fake" booking and adjust it later when your dates come open. But, please verify that before you do it. The rules may have changed since I make my last reservation in Dec of 06.

OK my DH is asking questions about something called "Dinner" and another option known as "starving to death". So I guess I'd better go.

Just teasing ladies and gents. He does cook and help. But, I've held up the family computer long enough and need to book.

See the Oddball posts are starting. I don't know when we will arrive but we probably won't settle until after dinner. DH tends to get happy feet and never stays still in a hotel for long.

Another Rad question. What time is everyone planning to take the bus? We generally go early 8:00 or so. But then, it's hard to make the family stick to a schedule on vacation.

How about 7:00 PM at the pool?

Why doesn't everyone meeting at the Radisson PM me with their cell phone numbers, so we can connect if we need to.

How early can you get onboard? We're cruise newbies.

It's a good thing the service on the cruise is so good!:rotfl2:

The terminal opens at 10:30 I think but that's from an old book. Last time I boarded we were given a number to board in order of arrival.

Then everyone checks in at the counter and hangs around in the terminal for a very long time. There are places to sit and visits from characters to keep us busy while waiting.

At about 1:00 they start calling the numbers to get on the ship and actual boarding starts. The whole boarding process takes until about 3:30 or 4:00.

Some people stress about getting there early so they can swim or be the first on the ship.

Some people mosey in at the last minute.

It's an odd combination of checking into a hotel and boarding a plane.

My information is about 18 months old however, Brian may have a more up to date take on it.

I'll get to that PM after lunch.

My parents are looking at staying at the Radisson on the 5th - they are very budget conscious, so can anyone give me a ballpark for their most economical room? I am trying to talk my parents into it, as they can get the shuttle and save the parking fees at the port, as well as get breakfast. I can't seem to find their rates on their website.

Thanks!

We are paying $169 for a 2 room whirlpool suite. Be SURE to ask for the cruise package. That way you save the $15 per day parking at the port.

Here's your problem. I'm staying in a 2 room suite because all the smaller rooms were gone-a-ronie.

Since everyone is telling what they have booked.....

We are going on the Ardstra gardens tour. It's usually for younger kids but we want to seen the flamingos and don't want to take up the whole day with one activity.

On Castaway Cay we have no plans. Generally we stay plenty busy without them.

We are going to Ardastra Gardens as well. - CANCELLED. More walking than necessary. Kids getting money instead for souveniers.

I think all of this is correct. I'm not sure about getting a number, but that may be true, as well. The benefit of how DCL handles this now is that there seems to be a lot more order to the process. When we cruised on the Wonder in 2001 the boarding process did not seem as smooth as what I have heard and read about now.

Take care!

Brian

Thanks for the info, Mommieminnie. I talked my mom into spending the money to save the aggravation of driving to port, etc. They found a room connected to the Radisson????? Same package, same rate, so I guess they are OK. It is hard trying to make arrangements for everybody, especially when we are here, and they are there!

BTW, I just got a call from my TA that my luggage tags and DW tickets are in, I'll be picking them up today! YAY! You guys probably already have them, being in the US?

Everybody have a magical day!

Anyone going on this excursion in Nassau? We haven't really had time to look at the options and just finally went through it last night. Right now we are booked to go to the Aquarium. Has anyone heard anything about this "trip"? Is it age appropriate (and not a total tourist trap) for my DH, DS (8), DS (6) and DD (3)?

I still can't believe we are less than three weeks away!!!

We haven't been on the aquarium trip but I've heard it's great and a lot of fun for the kiddos.

Check the main board. I know there is one pic on the new pic a day thread that is very sweet.

Keep up the good work! We have a friend who cruises often and can't say enough good things about the cruise package for parking and transport.

As of Friday I didn't have tickets in yet. I'll check when I get home today. I booked straight through DCL so there shouldn't be a TA slowing down the process for me. I am getting so excited!
