I vote for Number #1. You might want to set up a poll to get more accurate numbers.

My favorites are #1 then second place to #4-Green.

I'd be getting two adult shirts (and am really pretty likely to go with the flow, so I know I'd get one of whatever is chosen...can't speak for the slightly more fashion focused sister however!).

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

...

I never particularly liked the colors [number 1], brown makes me look like mud, but I LOVED the design, and would find a way to work with the color.

Primarily, I'm thinking wearable, here - You appear to be an afficianado of Hawaiian shirts, Bob, and you live in SUNNY California, where clothes tend to be more casual and colorful. It's great that you're not afraid of color.

But for some of us, living in darker climes, we're used to wearing more "conservative" (you can read "boring" for that) clothing. If I'm buying a 25 - 30 dollar shirt, I'd like to be able to wear it more than once, and occasionally even in my everyday life. If it's flaming pink Hybiscus with Characters in their natural colors, that's seriously NOT going to happen at least for me.

It's another glorious day here, in the great north east. Hope it will be where you are, too! Happy day, all.

(LindaBabe posted the above before Valerie numbered the patterns she worked up and brightened the green and brown pattern.)
Bob here. We live in foggy California, not the sunny part. San Francisco -- and I can hear the jokes about pink and rainbows, and that's okay. This seems to be the place where half the population wears black and gray, and that's to weddings and baby showers!. My crack about guys not wearing pink was a bit unfair, because as kids we were brainwashed to believe it was a girlie color. Not true. It shows an ability to ignore teasing, or refuse to believe in stereotypes, or any number of other positive qualities. Besides, pink means flamingoes, and Crockett and Tubbs in "Miami Vice," and the Main Street Barbershop Quartet's bow ties! Looks good with khaki and suntans, too.

Yes, the shirts may cost $25, but what percentage of the cost of a 15-day cruise and airfare is that? Some people buy snowglobes or a paperweight shaped like a city's icon (I'm thinking of Capitol buildings, Miss Libertys, Eiffel Towers, pyramids, Taj Mahals) or a sweatshirt. Aside from the sweatshirt, how often will we re-use those things? I buy tropical shirts, especially on cruises, if available. I think the idea of buying a yard or so for scrapbook covers is brilliant. Make a fish extender for a future cruise. One could take the shirt apart after the cruise and use it in a memory quilt or photo album.

Whatever the group prefers, and the company can make, I'm gonna buy. Everyone is making this a lot of fun. Thanks!

I like them all to be honest. I would like to see the first one in a completely different colour palette, though not sure which. I think after all I've said I prefer the duller colours than the bright green.

I think the second one is perhaps my favourite as I think it is very different and you can see everything clearly.

I love the top left one of number 4.

This is the Bob half of Valbob reporting. Editorializing, really. Whatever Valerie has made, and she's put a lot of time into learning how to make things with Photoshop Elements, are just ideas. The shirtmaker will do almost anything as long as we provide high-resolution images. However, Valerie found all of the graphics on the web, and many are much too jaggy or anti-aliased.

The samples are starting points, and several of you have shared ideas that allow the group to refine its requests.

And, since my opinion is just another one of many: I don't like dull colors, and I think brown and green is camouflage, not tropical excitement. Of course, Valerie promised me she'd take my opinion from this forum the way she takes my suggestion for how to season a casserole. But what do you think?

Anyway, I have more than 150 tropical-print shirts. I really, really like Hawaiian shirts, and it makes me sort of picky. First, I want sharp prints. Next, I like bright colors and either a good monochrome (shades of just one color, with white and maybe black) or some surprising combinations. Think of the color of road signs at WDW -- purple, red and yellow-orange. Who'da thunk it, but it looks pretty neat.

After we get a general idea of what the group hopes for, we can get a couple of targeted patterns from the designers. I'm sure they can work with colors for us. For example, some fabric available in Hawaii (mostly for dance troupes) is the same pattern in blue on white, or red on yellow, plus several other colors. So they may be able to modify a couple of their stock patterns to our color preferences. and if you think purple, red and yellow-orange is just plain wrong, what about the Mickey colors of DCL: Shorts red, Shoe yellow, white and black? And they'll make our logos and characters the exact colors we want.

But green and brown? It's a vacation! It's Hawaii! It's a sea-cruise! The tropics! We should get something that looks like fun, not like a branch off a pine tree. (What, try to swing the vote? Me?)

I like the silhouettes on a teal or blue-green floral. And what's with you wussy guys who are afraid to wear something with a little pink in it?

AMEN Bob!!!!
This is a summer, tropical, cheerful, DISNEY cruise! Seriously, What's with the Camo colours, really?
I would love a mixture of bright colours, including pink, and YES, My hubby is man enough to wear pink! ;) But, I know we can't all get what we want.
I agree with Bob and do think we should try something with the colours of the Mickey and the ship in mind - red, yellow and white with black writing maybe? I think they are unisex colours that shout Disney. What does everyone think? :confused3:confused3:confused3

PS - Val is doing a great job all out of the kindness of her heart, be thankful and ease up on her! :goodvibes
Thanks Val, It's people like you that make cruising so much more special for the rest of us. :flower3::flower3::flower3:

In order of preference 2, 4 violet, 4 blue, the new 1

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Another glorious day. Off to a picnic this afternoon. Hope it's equally as nice where you are!

I like #1. Second choice is #3. We would want 2 adult shirts and 3 yards of fabric. Thanks for working so hard on this!

I like #1 first and #3 second. We would be ordering two shirts. We would get them no matter what is chosen.

Val - the dress I ordered is a no go. It looked better on line.

My vote is for number 1. Just a thought that I haven't seen mentioned. I find myself with so many t-shirts from other cruises that I don't wear because they have a date on them. :sad2: Would this group consider not having the date & year on them ? I like all the ports listed and I think you are doing a GREAT job Val. :thumbsup2 I could see myself wearing the shirt again and I would even consider getting my DH one. Even though my DH isn't on this cruise I could see us wearing them on the Fantasy in Nov.

My choice is #3, but will get 3 plus a Duffy no matter what is chosen. Thanks so much for this.

Love the idea of the group shirt.. Wondering how they are ordered .. more so .. how they are sent out. We live in Canada .. often there is " no shipping to Canada"

Can we see if there is a department of Disney that can approve the design before we chance it?

When the company makes the shirts, there will be waste fabric for every shirt. Perhaps we can ask that the waste fabric be sent with the shirts for those who want to make Teddy Bear items instead of the company throwing it away.

We have an abundance of t-shirts and do not wear them very much as we think the round necks are not a fashion statement with our 62 year old necks. Hawaiian shirts are v-neck and have buttons !!

I think the font is subtle enough that having the date on the shirts as well as destinations and title of being the Inaugural Cruise to Hawaii is not going to stop us from wearing them after the cruise. We wear shirts that say Castaway Cay, Disney's Hilton Head, etc and find that they are great conversation starters about some of our best vacations.

The "camo" coloring reminds me of the subtle Hawaiian colors of the natives, the Polynesian Hotel and Aulani. The wild patterns make me think of 1950s American tourists. I lean toward the camo.

Depending on the final design and cost, we are likely to buy two and want fabric scraps for a shirt for My Pal Mickey and maybe yardage for a dress depending on the cost per shirt and the cost per yard. I guess that means we are a definiate-maybe for pattern number 1.

If there is no shipping to Canada, some of us would be able to accept your shirt shipment and ship them on to you I am sure. ::yes:: Or they could be distributed at a DIS meet at Promenade Lounge on Embarkation Day before the Life Boat drill along with other DIS stuff. :thumbsup2

Jan :earsgirl:

Jan, I believe Val said the company are prepared to sell material for people to buy. I think there are lots of little animal/dolls/pets that require matching shirts!!;)

HI  Marilyn!

Yes, I saw her post that they are prepared to sell yardage, but I am wondering about scraps. They would throw those away and they could make shirts for pets and perhaps be free or cheaper than a yard of goods.

I guess that would be nice and a good choice for them to make. Might take some working out how to do it though.

I vote for #1. Second choice is #3 (any chance of making Donald's butt a tad smaller?) LOL Please put us down for definitely 1 adult; possibly 2.

Hi everyone,

Thank you to Val and Bob for taking on this project. Annette and I like #2 then #1. We will both want shirts and extra fabric.
