HI  Marilyn!

Yes, I saw her post that they are prepared to sell yardage, but I am wondering about scraps. They would throw those away and they could make shirts for pets and perhaps be free or cheaper than a yard of goods.

I guess that would be nice and a good choice for them to make. Might take some working out how to do it though.

:sad2: Bad use of pronouns on my part--I did not mean that "they" the company could make pet shirts, I mean that "they" the scraps could be made into pet shirts. :upsidedow

In other words, if the company would not throw away the scraps left after cutting out the shirts  and would send all the scraps to one person to distribute :thumbsup2 or some with each shirt order :cool1: the people interested in making their own pet clothing or having a friend make it for them :yay: would be able to do so cheaper or for free ::yes:: compared to buying a fresh yard of fabric to cut and have scraps left from that too. :woohoo:

My vote is for number 1. Just a thought that I haven't seen mentioned. I find myself with so many t-shirts from other cruises that I don't wear because they have a date on them. :sad2: Would this group consider not having the date & year on them ? I like all the ports listed and I think you are doing a GREAT job Val. :thumbsup2 I could see myself wearing the shirt again and I would even consider getting my DH one. Even though my DH isn't on this cruise I could see us wearing them on the Fantasy in Nov.

I think we definately want the date of the cruise on them. We have several from previous DIS cruises and the dates on them don't stop us from wearing them. Like those shirts we used to get at concerts, they are memories and when you get older :rolleyes1 the dates help "remember when". :lmao:

Number 3 is my vote. We will order 2 adult shirts no matter which the group decides on. :thumbsup2

Can we see if there is a department of Disney that can approve the design before we chance it?......

No, no, no -- best to not open that can of worms with Disney!! :cool1:

The company that produces the shirts will know what they can and can't do - the copyrights are for sales. Several T-shirt companies shy away from Disney logos/characters and Disney is very strict about their policies, but unless this company is new and unaware, they should know what they can safely do. JMHO

....

I think the font is subtle enough that having the date on the shirts as well as destinations and title of being the Inaugural Cruise to Hawaii is not going to stop us from wearing them after the cruise. We wear shirts that say Castaway Cay, Disney's Hilton Head, etc and find that they are great conversation starters about some of our best vacations.

The "camo" coloring reminds me of the subtle Hawaiian colors of the natives, the Polynesian Hotel and Aulani. The wild patterns make me think of 1950s American tourists. I lean toward the camo.
.....

Yes, yes, yes! Absolutely agree that the earth tones in the "camo" are very much like native colors & also Aulani!!! Love them. Too wild & bright and I also see touristy....! DH does Hawaiian shirts but his are on the side of softer, natural colors...well, since I buy most of them that could be part of the trend. :rotfl:

here is how the poll on the shirt design is going as of this morning 10:00 SPT ending with posting 2985. I only polled your first choice

Design

1 ----- 11 votes

2 ----- 3 votes

3 ---- 1 vote

4 ----0 votes

As a FYI - I used the roll call list from our first page to tally the count. There are still a lot of rows that do not have a name designated with the info. Also, just a recommendation, as I have tried to use it and I would think others will too, If the owner would do a sort command (I didn't want to touch it myself - didn't seem right), making it alphabetized it might make it more user friendly. Thanks

Questions I have received or read

Shirt 1, The design where the text is, is this only going to be at the bottom? I was thinking this would only be at the bottom of the shirt, about 4 inches, and the rest the design with the characters.

Shirt 1, could we get the design but make it some other color? I changed it once, I could do it again (I don't like the color it is now but won't mention to who picked those colors). I guess we could ask for any of the designs to be in a different color and see what they tell us.

Can the shirts be mailed to Canada? I am sure they can be. I haven't worked out with the company how they will be mailed, to individuals or one mailing and then we can distribute. One cruise I was on the tee-shirts were mailed out by the group coordinator, on another they were distributed at the M & G, on another we ordered individually and they were sent by the company. We can discuss this now, or later. It does impact the individual costs.

Can we get the scrap material? I will pass on your question. I doubt it but have no problem asking.

If I missed any questions, or you have new ones, post them and I'll try to respond when I update the poll count tomorrow.

Val

I like the first two best, but I'm good with anything. Need 2, maybe 3 if they do kids (sorry, I can't remember if they said kids or not).

Hey, we are tourists!!;):lmao::lmao: Seriously though, do the Hawaiian people wear the more subdued colours then? OK, I know they wear normal clothes, I don't mean that. Having been on a few cruises now I see bright Hawaiian shirts all over so I just thought that was the norm, hence mentioning bright colours. Personally I am not a stand out person so prefer subdued or pastel colours, and I will have a job getting John in a very bright patterned shirt, so more subdued would be good, but preferably not the camo/green colours. I will look bleugh and definitely camouflaged!!;):rotfl2:

I vote for #1...I have to say that I still like the camo style colors the best, but would buy 2 adult shirts either way.

Again, thanks so much for your time in putting this all together.

Scrap or no - I will probably make Teddy Bear shirts. They can't possibly take that much material each. and, honestly, they're probably easier to lay out on yard goods. Scraps, however, could be pieced into scrapbook covers, bandanas, or whatever else you'd like to use them for.

I definitely WOULD NOT ask Disney to approve. . . Easier to get forgiveness, etc, etc.

Not authorised to choose :rolleyes1, but we will be in for 2 plus some material whatever the choice

Bob here. For a decade I worked for the newspaper that put on the Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco. I still see some of the shirts we gave to registered racers in the '80s -- even saw one in Barcelona when we were there for the Magic repositioning last fall. As planned so far, the type is small enough nobody can read it from 15 feet away or so. Plus, there's all that other text, so the date won't dominate. Maybe we can poll people for how much text we need, etc., once the pattern voting is done and we have to narrow down the colors.

Remember, the patterns are concepts, so what the largest number chooses will help define the final. Same with color preferences, amount and size of text, and size of Donald's tail. (Maybe you were referring to a silhouette of Donald that was made from the image of him in a grass skirt. Yep, that's a large hindquarters.)

If we had several hundred people who wanted to buy shirts, then it might justify the cost of producing more than one pattern/color. But then we might have many small groups saying that because "their" preference wasn't chosen, they won't buy. And we're back to one. We'd have to have "sponsors" fronting the money for extra production runs, and that seems unlikely.

Plus, we'd lose unity. On other cruises we have gotten friendly jokes from the comedian and special consideration from the crew for activities by being a large DISboards contingent with matching lanyards. Imagine dozens of matching shirts showing up here and there.

Hayley, how are you doing?

Hi Maz, I'm great, counting down the sleeps, Hopefully only about 15 to go! :cool1: How are you both, I hope your both keeping happy and healthy. :goodvibes

Uuuummmmmm, Correct me if I'm wrong, but you ARE American tourists, aren't you? :confused3:) Not me, I'm an Aussie tourist :rotfl2:

Still think the green and brown looks like we're an Army, and when it's brightened to green and red it looks like a Christmas Shirt.

Did we consider trying the Red, Yellow and White with black font?

AGREE!!!!
Say No to Camo......It even rhymes, It must be true! :lmao:

I VOTE FOR #3 out of the choices we have so far.

hey all. busy weekend here....so haven't had much time on the boards. I think I like the one with the more modern characters on it and the floral background (is that #3??)....although, honestly, Jason and I will probably get a pair of shirts no matter what hte pattern looks like....just to have it as a neat souvenir (and then when we get home we may turn one into a cover for a scrapbook or at least pages....which is what we've started doing with lanyards from trips, too! :thumbsup2). I am personally more in favor of the more fun, tropical colors....I would love it in a yellow or pink or lime green or bright blue....but I know that my color choices are probably not for everyone -----and particularly some of the other boys on the cruise might balk at wearing a pink hawaiian shirt :lmao::lmao:.....but then they'd probably also balk at wearing my fancy pink princess tuxedo vests.....little do then know how popular those vests make me and Jason with the ladies!! (if only all that popularity weren't totally wasted on us!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:)

As I said earlier, I want to thank all of you for your input and encouragement with the designs for our shirts and apologies for taking up so much space here. I think, based on the feedback I have gotten, that we have four favorites for a possible design. Brooklyn does such a great with graphics I am anxious to hear her feedback.

I would like to get a vote on which one you like best; if you would seriously consider purchasing one (need to get an idea of count so we can get a more defined quote on price) and if so, how many you are interested in purchasing. Then I'll send the winners off and see what they can do with them.

The first design is the one that seemed to get the most positive feedback, but I have brightened it up.
NUMBER 1

The next is the red map. I brightened the white and made the text a little crisper
NUMBER 2

I'll let you know how the vote and count is going at the beginning of the next few days.

I like 1 & 2. I actually like 2 better, but I like both.

Thank you again for all the work you've done for us.

I know that I would get 1 definately, maybe 3 (depends on non-diser travelers coming along)

Not authorised to choose :rolleyes1, but we will be in for 2 plus some material whatever the choice

Come on, Albert, you can make that choice!!! :lmao:

We had over 200 that had matching turquoise T-shirts on the first 10 day southern and it made quite a stir! People kept asking where they could get one of those and were disappointed that they were not part of the group. :lmao: I gave the DIS website to many folks that trip. :surfweb:

Agree that more than one pattern defeats the purpose of unity, IMHO.

Here is shirt one with a flower pattern

here is an example of how we can adjust the background color to whatever we want. I only enhanced the color to a few to give you and idea. We could ask for any thing.

Is it too late to vote??? I really like this one the best of all the ones that have been presented so far. My color choice would be (1) purple, (2) pink, (3) darker blue [4th across on the top row]

again - THANKS VAL :worship::worship:for doing this!!!! I am so loving this idea!!!!!

:lmao::rotfl2: Now all the other boys will be asking you to make a vest for them. :rotfl: Oh, and just incase Dennis - AKA DrHug - asks you for one, he doesn't need it! :rolleyes1;)

Third is the M&M & D&D with our slogons
NUMBER 3
5941886388_d077d1cfc5_z.jpg

It's #3 for the 3 of us followed by the "new" brighter #1 (or #1 with a whole new, more tropical and touristy color pallette altogether ). But we will go with whatever the majority wants.

:worship::worship::worship: THANK YOU VAL AND BOB!

I know I shouldn't post anything else but I really really like this revised design I have been playing with. Bob will say the "volvo" blue is boring but I like it. The trim would only go along the bottom. I increased the size of the flowers and decreased the size of M & M. I have concern the original I posted would be to busy when made into a full shirt.
