I've been to Hawaii a few times now and while I love it, the main attraction is a long cruise out of LA - we prefer the 14/15 day cruises and love DCL, but more importantly, enjoy the onboard activities with Disfriends - old and new.
We have not been to Hawaii yet, but think this will be a great way to see a little of several islands and, like Paula, the real bonus is DISfriends!

IM ENGAGED!!!! :lovestruc

I got engaged last week while i was in disney world at epcot during illuminations.

Congratulations!!!

White Horse & Yukon Railway excursion from Skagway

Awesome pics. ! Thanks for sharing.

Puk Dog and ABC store on the list! Saturday is Kamehameha Day with parade et al.

DVC tour brief but fun putting on the hard hats and shoes and goggles. I wasn't permitted to take pics of the construction site from the grounds. Sorry guys. Did take some pics when Tony and I were driving around. I even did a pin trade:rotfl2: The lobby is very cool. I peered into a gift shop window........open open open....... and what did my eyes behold but a Dooney and Burke Hawiian Aulani bag:rolleyes1

Lame at posting here so posted some pics on FB of the unit. Enjoy.

Saw the pics. on facebook ! Do you know how far the resort is from the port ?
Okay, I'm diving in and sharing pic's!

Juneau - Orca's

Thanks everyone for allowing me to go off topic and share some pictures.

Amazing pics !! Thanks for sharing them.

Those are great pictures. I couldn't get any good ones of the humpbacks or the orcas (which were closer); mainly got a lot of water in the shot. That fluke with the white/black contrast was beautiful.

And you couldn't tell you weren't on a DCL cruise, other than being in Sitka. :goodvibes

...Well, this wahine has made the decision to skip this cruise. I would so much rather have more than 4 days in the islands if I am to be gone from home for 2 weeks. I hope everyone has a great cruise.

Aloha, Lynne

And because Lynne is skipping this cruise, I will be skipping it, too. I never actually got my name on any list except for the lanyard list. This means I won't be participating in it, either. I'll PM Erik & Jason about this, too.

Although I will miss seeing many of my friends who are on the cruise, not going means I will be doing something with my DH instead. He wasn't going to be able to go, and this way we'll have some time together. Perhaps I'll see some of you on future cruises.

Aloha,
Shirley

:sad2: I am sorry your not going to be able to make this cruise.

Before I booked the cruise I did the math to do a land based vacation to Aulani and even with staying DVC you have to add food, rental car, airfare, extras and we broke even. But with Disney I can fly SW and no fees for bags. I wish we were having a over night or Kona but it is what it is and will be great. So can't wait. Just watched Brady Bunch Hawaii!

For me I wouldn't do the long flight from the East Coast so this is the way to see Hawaii for me.:)

I was worried about this too, but we were swimming EVERY DAY. :thumbsup2 The pools felt like bath water.

When I was on the Wonder in Dec. it was crazy cold. The pools were like bath water and I never enjoyed the pools so much before !! You could see the steam coming off of the water.

Congratulations again roomie. :dance3::dance3:

Rainy day here in Massachusetts. I was supposed to finish the chicken coop, but looks like we'll have poultry in the basement for another week.

Just an FYI....Disneyland released their 2012 bookings today so I called DL to book our pre & post cruise stay but I got a clueless CM. I wanted a room only reservation at Paradise Pier and he quoted me a price that was higher than online, when I questionned it, he tried again and still got the same price. When I questionned the room category (I wanted standard), he told me there were none available and he could only book pool view. I said the booking window only opened today and all standard rooms are gone? He said I guess so. Okay...then I asked about AAA/CAA discounts and the price he quoted me was $15 cheaper...I'm sorry a $5 per night discount. I told him there had to be something wrong with his system since the minimum AAA/CAA discount we've ever received was 10%. He told me things must have changed for 2012. I thanked him for his time and told him we would wait to book our stay.

I'm going to try again in a few weeks and maybe all the bugs will be worked out and hopefully the proper discount codes will be in the system.

I'd try again right now with a different CM, then if you get the same rates, try every few days.

Desperately trying to catch up!

Welcome to all the new cruisers, More the merrier!

Well, I have booked airfares, so something else to tick off the list. We have 4 days in LA / DL before the cruise so I suppose accom is next on the list.

OK, We've been to WDW, DL and DL Paris, my personal preference is DL, and I'll explain why. We have baggage, 2 kids, so I find DL easy to visit while still having all the things my kids love. Although as they get older we are enjoying WDW more. Hey, it's Disney, I'd be happy to visit any of them. ;)

I saw some mentions of Duffy. Does anyone know if he's available onboard, or should I grab one at DL before we board. Think he'll make a perfect first toy from DL for the new baby! :goodvibes

More talk about FE's. I think it is confirmed that we are doing groups of 25. One question - Kids? I like to do a seperate gift for kids, but have no idea how many will be in my group? Hmmmm, any ideas?

Alaska pics are gorgeous and have made me want to cruise Alaska, add it to the list I suppose.... :rotfl:

CONGRATULATIONS to poohbear926 on your engagement, what a perfect place for a proposal, I bet it was beautiful. :lovestruc

OK, I only have 4 more school days and then we have 3 weeks school break, yippee. Need to start preparing for the baby, so I'm sure I'll be kept busy, but at least we're not on a strict timetable for a few weeks.

I'll check back in soon. :thumbsup2

Hayley

Sorry to hear that AuntLynne and Clipper Merlin are not going. We were looking forward to seeing you again. Hopefully we will meet up again on another cruise.

just got off the phone with DL hotel reservations . I was asking about Paradise Pier hotel and I think I got the same CM. He quoted me a "great senior rate" of $200 per night for a standard room. !!!!
I told him that we stayed there last year after the PC cruise and it was half that price. He said he did not have any better discounts. I think if that is the case we will be looking elsewhere to stay. Did anyone get any other prices?

Wow...I would have taken the $200 per night rate, I was quoted $275.

I was just coming back on to post that I called again and the CM I got this time was more knowledgeable and while I did get a different price quoted for Paradise Pier (this time $266/night), I asked about CAA/AAA or Senior Rates (traveling with my Mom and this year got a great rate at DLH). He told me that the "discounts" for 2012 won't be out until August or September. He told me right now all the bookings are at Rack Rates. He said I could book now and try in August to see if a discount is available....I decided I'm going to wait until August and try again then.

You can get Duffy both places. At least he was on the MR cruise. You can get a Duffy Bear at CA adventures just as you are passing into the Paradise Pier area or at Enginears Toys on the right as you come into the park. Duffy loves cruising so get him before you come on board.
