Thanks again Val!!

I have posted the following on the 3rd posting on this thread. If any of you know of a better way to provide a form you can complete and send to me, I would love to hear about it.

If it is your sincere intent to order a cruise shirt, please copy the order form found on the google link:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OAn7Xz7SUa9A9_xguleVOT1XcNO4VlRZFmYtuC0NXlg/edit?hl=en_US#
From the edit function click ‘select all’ and then ‘copy’.
Paste into an e-mail, complete form and send it to my attention at valbob89@aol.com.

Although early interest infers moderate sales numbers and shirts selling for $33.50 or less, prices could range as low as $26 or as high as $45.75 (see table). This price includes the manufacturer’s bulk shipping and handling charges but not the cost to mail them to the individual group members. Bob & I will handle that mailing and advise you of the pass-through charge from the USPS. Regardless of when you order, every shirt will be sold at the same price. However, we cannot confirm the cost until the order deadline. If you’re confident you’ll buy a certain number of shirts even if we haven’t reached a discounted price, please place your order immediately. I will update the thread weekly with the number ordered by that date, and resultant unit pricing.
The manufacturer requires the total order for our group reflect at least 10 shirts in each size requested, i.e. if we order 100 shirts, 89 adult size large 10 size medium and 1 size small, they cannot fill the size small order. The group must order a minimum of 5 yards of material in order to include any material. (If we do not receive ample orders, you will not be charged and your yardage order canceled.)
They have not offered child size shirts before. Therefore, based on your feedback, they will determine the sizes they are able to offer.
We received a sample adult 2XL shirt for review. It has five buttons, including the one at the collar, which closes to about 19 inches. The camp-cut shirt was true to size with the following measurements: from bottom of collar to bottom of back of shirt is 32.5 inches, back of shirt width at bottom of sleeve and waist is 28 inches and length of shirt sleeves is 12 inches at the shoulder seam. With front panels of 14.5 inches, the 2XL is roomy at 56 inches. The 100% polyester shirts were selected due to the fact they do not shrink, will wrinkle much less than other material and dry quickly – all factors when considering travel wear. Additionally, this lightweight, breathable polyester is the best medium for color transfer, and with the complexity of our design this was a factor.
Although Bob really would love to have a pocket on the shirt, he agrees that the busy design would not lend itself to adding a pocket unless it is matched up to the shirt print. Even Tommy Bahama's, that he pays over $150 for do not have matched pockets any more. So, no pocket will be on the shirt.
Payment will be required by Dec. 1, 2011 via PayPal, utilizing an account established for this event only. Further information forthcoming.
Current schedule has the shirts being received from the manufacturers by March 1, 2012 for distribution to you by March 15, 2012.

It occurs to me that if we don't get sufficient orders of the kids sizes to warrent the company making them that one could buy yard goods and a simple kids pattern and sew them, just as I'm doing with the teddy bear shirts. I'm not planning to put the borders on theirs because they are so short.

Thanks Val for the additional information on sizes. I noticed they go from XL -XXL and there is no 1XL. I will have to get the tape measure out .
I never used Paypal so I hope I can figure out how to copy the form and get the money to you.z
Hope things go well for Bob

Right now I am just trying to get a firm count of the number of shirts people are confident they are going to pay for a shirt. We need this to determine the individual cost as it will be based on the volume ordered. I don't plan to start accepting payment until November.

Speaking of accepting payment, I went to Bank of America and opened a separate checking account just for the ordering of shirts, today. I asked the manager if she knew of any way, other then Pay Pal, for depositing money into the account. She suggested you ask your bank if they have a Bill Pay process that can be used if I gave you the account info. She cautioned to ask about any charges associated with transactions. The other suggestion was money order or cashier's check. Some credit unions and banks will provide them at no cost, to their customers.

I will establish a Pay Pal account with the Valbob89@aol.com. I am only using that e-mail address for the shirts and will close it and the Pay Pal account once this adventure is over.

I am sorry but I feel I just can't accept personal checks. As I am not a merchant I don't have any way to accept credit or debt card payments.

Maybe someone knows of another way payment can be made that would work for everyone. Pixiegran has offered to help me with the ordering process. I am going to send her a copy of your order forms so someone else has a record of your requests - a backup copy. Although I do have a service that provides off-site backup for my computer I think it is a great idea (and generous of her) to have someone other then just me know what you have sent me. She indicated she has handled a lot of uniform orders so maybe she has an idea what, other then Pay Pal, can be used to make payment.

I honestly think paypal is the easiest safest way to go for you and for all of us. They are really super easy to set up an account with and really easy to use. I managed to do it all by myself and I can't manage to do anything computer wise usually...I rely on expert daughter to help me with everything :worship:

I think it is so fast and safe to pay with paypal, I use it for all my online ordering. There will be some people who I am sure do not want to pay online so I would say a money order is the best way to go...but be sure to make deadline early enough for mailed in payments to be in hand by time you order.

Only give your mailing address on pm not posted for safety by the way..this board is open to public and having a public address with posting about money coming to it could be asking for trouble:sad2:

Bob here. These are men's sizes, and XL is the same as 1X or 1XL. Note also that the shirts are men's cuts -- no darts, full shoulder width, elbow-length (approx.) sleeves, and with front buttonholes on the wearer's left.

The sample we were sent washed up nicely, and came out of the dryer looking smoooooooth. The 100% polyester should be great for quick hand washing in the tub or sink, or thrown in the ship's laundromat.

Thanks for your concern. The abdominal pain has been on and off for years. CT on Monday.

As long as I go, I will be getting at least one XXL. Also, I would prefer to pay by PayPal as well.

Cayla....please tell me you aren't cancelling????

OH NO....Michael and I booked two cabins - one in my name and one in his...since neither of us has found roommates we are once again traveling together (we get along so well it is really a joy to travel with him)...so I am releasing the cabin in my name.

The stateroom number is 5644 cat 6A Verandah room....If anyone is interested in this cabin, please contact me via PM, I would like to make sure my TA keeps the room if at all possible.

Cayla

The cruise that we took was late Sept to Mid Oct. We had perfect weather other than a few rocky days

Could someone clarify for me the cut off date for ordering and paying for the shirts? Is is Dec 1st?

We won't know if we are going for sure by then. Not complaining mind as I know there has to be a cut off, just want to know.

I know what you mean. I think our vacation will be done by the 1st of December. If not oh well no shirt for me either. I have to be honest, I think the date is a bit early considering final payment is not due till New Years Eve. I guess it is up to the shirt company so I don't think Val has any control on that one.

To be honest, I think even if we ordered and then couldn't go ahead with the cruise, we could re sell the shirts on to those who only book at that time when all the cabins come available at PIF time. Can't be sure of course, but I know usually people booking later want to try to do and have everything to be a part of the group.

Very good point.

Cayla, can you hang on to it for a couple more days? I think I have someone who wants it. (Oddly enough, she might have wanted it as your room mate too.)

Paypal I believe you can pay through paypal without having an account of your own. You CAN use credit cards to pay through paypal, but you should add 80 cents to the transaction to cover the cost to the recipient for you having used a credit card.
