Well, baby was supposed to come on Wednesday by scheduled C-section, but she had different ideas. Mia Cerys Sullivan was born at 9:02 a.m., and was 7 lb 11 oz and 21 1/4" long. She looks something like her older sister at this point, which is no bad thing. Mom and baby are doing well; mom just needs some rest now. (And grandma too; up at 4 this a.m. and spent the day at the hospital. Going to bed shortly.)

Congratulations . How exciting!

I paid in full on Day 1.......the $95 about broke me............:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Gotta love DVC!

pppplllllllzzzzzzzzttttttt.....couldn't find a smiley that was making a rasberry....this will have to do!

Who do I need to pm about the group rates at the Doubletree?? I can't remember (not surprising for those who know me :lmao:)

TIA!

BTW - Val...sent you my form :)

I do believe that the Doubletree group rates go to MickeyMom923..

Yes Mickeymom923 aka Bev. She is on a cruise now and won't be around for a couple of weeks. Her rate was 139.00. ( not marina view ) and doesn't include breakfast. Send her a PM just know she won't see it for a little while.

Jon

Tell us the size of some of her clothes and maybe we can help. These shirts are not fitted so we don't necessarily need anything but a rough idea. Are her sweaters size small, 2X or somewhere in between? I'll look for a women's clothes measurements chart so we can get an idea for conversion.

That would help me also ! Thanks.

My worst nightmare for this cruise...........just happened to my 17 year old DD.
She took a DIRECT flight and her luggage didn't make the plane.:sad2: She was at airport in plenty of time. It took the airline 48 hours to get her luggage to her !!! When I contacted our airport they found the bag and it was put on the next flight, she said it was just put on the wrong cart.

I need a little help from anyone who lives in the LA area, or is expierenced in driving there.

We are stationed in a remote location overseas, and the only flight that we can take to make sure that we are there before the cruise, has us arriving on April 21st. Our plan is to rent a car (already reserved) at the airport, drive to Disneyland and stay there until the morning of the cruise on the 29th, and then drop the car off at the port.

Can you give me information on the driving conditions? We would like to spend our first few days driving into LA to visit the common tourist spots before hitting the parks the last four days. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Sorry for your DD. This happens to me way too often. The last time was in March, and my luggage was lost somewhere between Portugal and Orlando. It took them 5 days to get it to me!! :scared1:

A number of you have asked about the size conversion of shirts. I don't know it this will help, but I have a link to a document I pulled together with size measurements. I got these charts from the Hilo Hattie Hawiian clothes site. Note they indicate the measurements are without ease. I guess that to mean no extra room, fitted to the body. Also, the chest waist and bottom numbers given by our shirt company are 1/2 numbers so double them and their shirts do have ease - a lot. From what I see, the shirt company we use, their shirts run a little large

Lyrah, you want to avoid rush hours like the plague. You'll want a good, detailed map, and to know your route before you go. The Interstates there are a serious tangle for people who aren't familiar with them. (We moved from Germany to California - even 20 years ago, it was a nightmare)

Boy do you live in a beautiful part of the world---at least it was 50 yrs ago when I was there very very shortly :) I live in Seattle and now have made numerous trips to Disneyland, usually driving, some flying and renting car. I think you would be happiest if you stayed at Disneyland and made trips to any LA sites from there. That is what we have always done. Actually we get so enchanted with Disney we always do less in LA than we have planned ahead of time :yay: It is a short drive to any "sites" in LA itself..less than an hour in the worst traffic usually for us. And the drive into downtown is always so fun for "looking".

Doesn't the company we are using have a published size chart for their shirts? Seems like a standard thing.

The bags that were out were barf bags. Hubby and I love it rocky! For most of the shore excursions we do on our own. I have USAA so I have booked the rentals with them. Some as low as $35 some mid $50. I am hoping to book with DCL for Molikini and Arizona. The rest on our own.
Oh wow, must have been very rough then to have bags out.
We're also thinking of doing shore excursions on our own for the first time. A little nervous as we've always done the DCL one's and have never been to Hawaii either so have no idea where to start. Will have to start research soon.

Does anyone have the names of the ports we will be docking at in Hawaii? I thought I would start looking at rental cars.
As I mentioned above we are also thinking of doing the shore excursions on our own and renting a car. Are there care rentals near the ports. If not how do you get from the port to the car rental offices. Would really appreciate some advice.

Wow you have been busy, its about a month since I last checked in and I have had to catch up about 70 pages! :rotfl2:
We had a fabulous time in California and anyone that has even had just a passing interest in the Adventures by Disney Backstage Magic tour - run, do not walk and book it! It was the most incredible trip for a fan of all things Disney. ...........
Following the cruise, we are planning on staying at DL for 1 night (assuming we can get into the GCV on our DVC points) and are wondering what the best/quickest way would be. I'm thinking a taxi - or will there be other options? Any idea on costs?
Glad that you had a great ABD.
Not sure if you are aware but you can use your DVC points at Paradise Pier and Disneyland Hotel without swopping them out of DVC. As there is only one DVC resort at DL, DVC allows members to use the DL resorts as DVC resorts so no extra points for staying there. I know GCV would also be first choice but if there isn't any availability when you book you also have the other two resorts as choices. We only found this out when we booked a DL reservation with our points and ended up at PP which was nice. One stay we had a car park view and the other had a CA park view.

Hey Gang....:good vibes
So are we going to have a Specific day that we all wear the DCL Hawaiian shirt? :confused3
How about a gruop photo with everyone wearing the shirts?.....:surfweb:
just wondering? I could set up a time with shutters to have a photographer take a our photo, somewhere....
what does everybody think? :surfweb:
255 until DL then the Cruise.....:cool1:
Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2
We will probably wear our shirts for embarcation, and Honolulu day, at least.
Ohhhh yes, this sounds like a super idea. Think we'll also wear them on embarkation day for sure. :cool2:
And group photos would be such a special keepsake.

Happy Sunday everyone!
I sent a message to Val about the shirts, so we are in for a group picture for sure! We will be wearing them on embarkation day as well as some other day I am sure. The design is so cute! Thank you Val, for all of your hard work! :worship:
As far as excursions go, I am just so grateful that every port is in Hawaii. It is a completely different, less stressful process to plan and so many more choices are open to us than other cruises. I think we are going to do excursions outside DCL for every port, unless DCL comes up with something amazing.
I hope everyone is well and I look forward to chatting with you these coming months! :cool1:
Same here!

I paid in full on Day 1.......the $95 about broke me............:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Gotta love DVC!

Me too! I LOVE MY DVC!! :cool1: This is a "WONDER" ful way to use my points!! :dance3:
So did we .... just have to love DVC!:love:

We moved to OC, CA to a town which is "next door" to Anaheim about 11 months ago from Central Mass and we were also told about the awful traffic. I agree it can get jammed up and rush hour's are slow. Having said that I find it easier to get around and find alternative routes than in Mass.
We have done home to the port on a Sunday afternoon to watch the Wonder sail out in about 20 minutes and on other day had to find an alternative route because of an accident. Make sure you do have a good map or Navigation. If you have a iPhone the MapQuest app's directions includes voice directions. Hope this helps you, let me know if you need any more info.
