Hi everyone!!!

Chris and I will be joining you! We are going to take the train to La from Ontario, Canada.

So far my plans include driving to MI and getting the train from there. It is 2 nights on the train and the route mimics the old route 66. We plan to get to LA 4 or 5 days before the cruise so we can do Disneyland - oh and drive to Vegas and get MARRIED:bride:

We always said that if we get to Vegas would would get married so this cruise will be my Honeymoon cruise :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

So I have so much to do and I don't know where to start!

Looking forward to meeting some new DIS friends!!!

Marcy

Hi and welcome. Sounds like a very exciting time for you next Spring. You have a lot of planning to do:dance3:

Can you give me information on the driving conditions? We would like to spend our first few days driving into LA to visit the common tourist spots before hitting the parks the last four days. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

We live in New Zealand so coming from a small sparsely populated island to driving in a big, unfamiliar city on the wrong side of the road is pretty scary ... but it in reality, its actually not so bad.

Make sure you have a good map or get a GPS in your rental car. Give yourself plenty of time to get places and just enjoy - you have no rush to get anywhere - you are on vacation! Relax and just have fun.

The touristy stuff is usually really well signposted too.

Not sure if you are aware but you can use your DVC points at Paradise Pier and Disneyland Hotel without swopping them out of DVC. As there is only one DVC resort at DL, DVC allows members to use the DL resorts as DVC resorts so no extra points for staying there. I know GCV would also be first choice but if there isn't any availability when you book you also have the other two resorts as choices. We only found this out when we booked a DL reservation with our points and ended up at PP which was nice. One stay we had a car park view and the other had a CA park view.

I didn't realize you could still stay at PP or the DLH, thats good to know we still have that option. I thought they stopped that when the GCV's opened. :thumbsup2

CONGRATULATIONS! Sounds like an AMAZING trip!

(My son got married in the 'drive-thru' at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas. THEN they called us. I told him the least he could have done was gone inside, where I could have watched it on the web cam!)

Happy day, all!

Wow you are on top of things! We leave for the WBTA on Sept 4 and we just decided which ones we want to print yesterday.

I think I just got into the swing of being super organized in planning and getting ready for my upcoming vacation. Essentially we are having three vacations in one with a vow renewal thrown in for good measure. Normally I get a panic at about a week or so before the cruise realizing that I am nowhere near ready.

I hope you will have a wonderful time on the WBTA.

Congrats surviving summer classes. I took organic chem II one year and when studying for my final started dreaming that molecules were chasing me :scared1: Would never take another intense summer course again.

Oh you were daring, I did A+P 2 in summer session many years ago, should have had myself tossed overboard THAT summer...did I learn???? NNNNNOOOOO....I took two classes this summer, each was 6 weeks long - but the content was from a 13 week semester...for the second class I had three papers due each weekend. We had to post our paper by Sat at 2300, then pick someone elses post to reply to by 2300 on Monday...she would comment on our post sometime on Sunday and we had until 2300 Monday to reply to her comments. So, it was one paper done with time to research fully, and two done "on the fly" one due in 48 hrs the other in about 24 hrs. OUCH....the bigger part was APA formatting, and all the citations...as I said - please toss me over a rail and into the water if I even mention taking another class in the summer....

Wow that is a packed trip! Makes a lot of sense why you would be prepping already.

Yeah it's amazing what you can do when you're young and energetic. I was also working a full time and another part time job that summer. Looking back I can't believe it I survived. I guess you never know what you can do unless you do it... but I would never ever try to do that again.

Definitely they can be used at all 3 hotels, actually...... but....I hate to be the downer....lol....but the points required is very different!! We have been using points at all the DLR hotels for years, but where we will use 18 pts for the 3 of us in VGC, when they were full recently, our GC room was 41 pts!!!

Of course it's a bit less at the other hotels, and it is a nice option...but pricey!!

Thank you to everyone who posts the openings they find! Our friends haven't been quick enough yet, but I keep sharing the info!!
