Sheesh, looks like the cruise nightmares are starting early! Had one last night, forgot camera charger and extra battery - luckily later in the dream realized DS had remembered them. This one actually happened on our last cruise so its kind of funny it made it to this nightmare. Forgot our cruise doc's. Had the passports but no cruise doc's, wandered around and couldn't find anyone to help us. Then adult daughter and grand daughter showed up insisting they had to come with us, even though they aren't booked, thus increasing the stress! Panic set in as I still could find no one that could help me with the cruise doc's so we could board and the ship was ready to leave us. :scared1: At which point I woke up! :faint:

Well, after some discussion over on FB, it looks like folks would like to go ahead and try to coordinate an alternative luau to the Old Lahaina Luau (OLL) in Maui at the Feast at Lele.
When do you need the sign up by?

Becky writes the material is finished and looks beautiful. However, due to a system problem there will be a delay in mailing it. They are going to send me a picture of the material, which I will post.

I advised them that we have 10 shirts paid for on our wait list, bringing our total to 138.

Val

When do you need the sign up by?

Well, much like Val was challenged with the shirt order, we are challenged with this excursion planning...

If we can get 180 folks to commit, then we can buy out the place and probably get an even better deal! :dance3:

If we can't get enough to buy out the place, then we don't NEED to know if you are joining us or not until probably April 1st. But, then we run the risk of them not having any spots left.

...and then there is the transportation...since the number of folks dictates the size and quantities of motor coaches - yikes, so many moving parts!! :crazy2:

Okay, so short answer after the long story above, I'd say if you have any interest at all, please sign up now and just put in the notes column if you are still on the fence. That way, we'll at least have a big picture idea of how many folks are interested.

The final count will probably need to be established by March 1st to be sure everyone can get a spot (assuming we don't have 200 "for sures" before then).

Thanks!

I absolutely agree! DIS group, DIS planning.

So sorry!! I was definitely not trying to make things confusing. We just started "talking" over on the FB page about alternative luau options for Maui and it morphed into an actual planned excursion.

I promise that I brought ALL the info here to the DIS Boards for discussion and involvement as soon as it formed into anything!

Forgive me...

Thanks! I do see how challenging this is, and thanks so much for taking this on. I signed up, I am a bit on the fence still though since we haven't solidified our excursions yet, but I put that in the note as suggested. Thanks again!

When it comes to the Luau no one in my party is interested. I wish you luck in finding 180 people.

We all understand that no one is trying to make anything confusing, but that is the problem with having more than one planning site. Everything does not always get moved onto both sites. My understanding was that FB was going to be used for chatting and getting to know each other, but that DIS would still be used for planning DIS activities. I hope I'm not coming across as grumpy, because I am not. :) I follow both sites, but not everyone has time for that and even with reading both everyday I still am missing stuff because it is spread around.

This is kind of off-topic, but on the off chance that DCL does another Panama Canal cruise, can anyone tell me what the ports were?

On the Wonder PC cruise, we had an overnight stop at Aruba as we missed Castaway Cay, the actual canal crossing, Puntarenas (Costa Rica), Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. Puntarenas was probably my favourite port.

I am not familar with MAC but I know Word and Excel enough to be dangerous so if I can help let me know.

Thanks for all your hard work with this and the workshops. You have given me more to look foward too with this trip!

:thumbsup2

It is a pleasure. Actually, this keeps me grounded and sane at the moment. Things are getting tough again at work and this is my escapism. I even check during my breaks if somebody has sent me a PM or signed up for Secret Mickey/ Scavenger Hunt. I have a job that I would love some help with for the Navigator if you are up for it. I will send you a PM shortly.

I did mine in Microsoft Word in landscape, two columns, so it folds in half like a booklet.

I would offer to do, however, I have so much going on between now and the cruise, I don't think I can swing it.

Thanks, I will experiment with the basic layout over the weekend and then I just have the job of filling the pages.

Okay, I'm happy to organize the tour and coordinate with all those willing to participate since I just think this would be SO much fun...

BUT, I'll need your help - who wants to offer their cabin for viewing?

I am happy to offer our 11C for the tour. We are in 2519.

Corinna, you are a gem for volunteering. If you need help, PM me as we did the Daily Navigator on the last WBTA in 2011. DH is very good at making this print out.

I will take you up on your kind offer once this is underway.

Corinna-

You had asked me which bracelet my best friend and I wanted to do. Finally double checked with her.

I want to do the Princess one and she(djpate) wants to do the beach on.

Thank you for doing this and all the other things you are taking on. We really appreciate it.

I have updated my records.

Corrina- don't know if I told you I wanted to do the beach bracelet. There is just so many things going on I forget what I have done. I wish people would use the Disboards for planning and not Facebook - it makes it very confusing. I also could not get to the link for the scavanger hunt - if that your too. I was not able to get on the link

I did not have your selection before, but I have now updated my records.

Corinna

OK, the feedback has been positive so I will get going on the DIS Navigator. I would appreciate a bit of input on what people would like to see included in this. Any ideas are welcome.

Calling all activity organisers

If you have volunteered to organise an activity on this cruise, could you please remind me what you are organising or heading up. This will also include things like pre-cruise meets. You can either post on here, send me a PM or message me on Facebook (Corinna Ball, Manchester). I am aware that a lot of details will probably not be finalized until about two weeks before the cruise, but I want as much information as possible to start working on the overall layout of the group navigator. I can fill the gaps as I go along.

Would you like a copy of the 2011 WBTA Daily Navigator to your email address as an example. If so, PM your email address.

Okay, so got an answer back from the Feast at Lele folks regarding our little ones...if they sit in a highchair, they are FREE! :thumbsup2

Their guidance on this was that they basically don't charge for kids under 3, but if they need a chair (rather than a highchair) then you have to pay the kid's rate for them ($85 +tax and gratuity). Hope this helps those of you with toddlers!

Our cruise is beginning to look like huge sunny light at the end of the tunnel:sail:

Seattle area is on day 6 of snow and ice. Now we only have about 8"-12" which I am sure seems very small to those in the east and midwest, but here it is huge. There isn't enough equipment to clear roads properly so it isn't safe to go out unless absolutely necessary. To top of off last night we had ice rain - felt like I was back in the south...only the second time I have seen this in 40 yrs living here..so today huge trees are breaking and taking our power lines, 60'+ tall evergreens are crashing into freeways and interstates. They have had to declare a state of emergency and this afternoon started broadcasting that people leave work early and get off roads by dark because they feel they will be deadly.

I live east of Seattle in the "foothills" of the Cascade mountain range and we have over 12" and every road around here is a hill  I am an experienced snow driver (learned in PA) and have new seasonal tires on my front wheel car, but the men in our neighborhood also well equipped are having trouble so we have stayed put.

I have attempted to read as much on the threads as I could that would help with this trip in some way. The thread for homemade FE gifts is awesome but I STILL haven't made it all the way thru it.... One thing Dis Boards members like to do is talk :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Makes me a good fit! I haven't even managed to look at all the titles for different threads yet either...wow

We are supposed to get back to normal tomorrow - winter rain - so will be able to get back to our usual life :yay: But I am determined to at least make it thru gift thread and hopefully someday read all the thread titles on Dis Board:laughing:
