April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Inagural Wonder to Hawaii-Part 3

Sorry we haven't been on the boards much the last two weeks. Thanks to those who asked about us. We have been spending a lot of time at hospitals. Yesterday we got the great news that the radiologist was incorrect when last week she had identified a mass in his common bile duct. Unfortunately they still don't know why he is in pain and where the blood loss is occuring. But unless there is some other issue, we are clear to take the Halloween cruise he insists he wants to go on. More tests when we get back.

I too have been out of touch since April 24 when Dennis was admitted to the hospital with chest pain. They did a cardiac cath on the 25th and determined he needed a redo of his bypass that was done in 1997. That was completed on the 28th. He had a tia a couple of days post surgery ("mini-stroke") that left his right leg and arm paralyzed. That cleared in a day, thankfully, then he went into atrial fib a couple of days after that. Those two events slowed his discharge a couple of days, but we were able to come home night before last. Yesterday was our 44th anniversary so we were thrilled to be at home. :cloud9:Some very sweet ladies from our church brought dinner for us last night. Dennis is now on the mend, but we, of course, have lots of appointments coming up with cardiac rehab, coumadin clinic (because of the A-fib), surgeon checks, etc.

I will add Bob and Dennis to my prayer list. Hope they both will be feeling better soon!

Angie & Dennis and Val & Bob....:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: Continued prayers & pixie dust for you.

Hope they get it figured out but I'm glad to hear you guys get to have fun on your Halloween cruise :goodvibes

Glad to hear he's on the mend. We'll keep your family in our prayers. :grouphug:

We are coming into LAX on the 27th, I think our plane gets there at 1230 or so. I want to stay near the port, but would like to go to DL. How bad would the drive be on Saturday if I rented a car at the port and drove to DL? Would it be an easy drive, or a pain? Any advice on how to handle this? I was thinking maybe go from LAX to a good neighbor hotel and visit Disneyland, then go to a port hotel that evening, but that is alot of checking in and checking out. If we stay both nights near DL, what is the best mode of transportation to get from DL area to the port? Any suggestions?

Ok.. I think that I have answered myself. I am thinking I might do a good neighbor package thru Disneyland and stay at the Candy Cane Inn. I know that I have seen others who said they were staying here pre cruise. When are you leaving for, and how are you getting to the port? I was thinking maybe we would want to leave Candy Cane by 9am or so? I need HELP!.. lol

So sorry. My husband had to be on coumadin secondary to aflutter...it's really annoying, but a necissary evil. Hope things get better for the both of you. I'm glad you had a chance to be home for your aniversary.

I am so glad to hear things are finally going better. The coumadin can be a real pain. My daughter has been on it for over a year now. The hardest part for her is having to limit and/or eliminated green veggies. She really misses her salads. As of today she is back to louvinox injections instead of coumadin because of a minor surgery Tuesday. The shots make you appreciate the coumadin real quick LOL. Keeping fingers crossed that this surgery doesn't show she has to have a major one in a few weeks. She had limitations on the Alaska Inaugural cruise because it was only 4 months after her last surgery...last of 6 in one year. Really would like not to repeat all this again.....

Lots of prayers for his speedy recovery and be sure to ask at coumadin clinic for a pamphlet listing everything with vitamin K that he has to avoid...really hard to remember some.

Just saying hi. Well a very active 9 days here at WDW are now over. Tomorrow we are headed to the Magic for 7 nights to the Eastern. We have Tea on Sunday and Brunch on Thursday. Going to Paradise Point on St. Thomas. In St Martten I am going to try to get to the Airport for some plane sighting.

valbob89 and MrsMork Sending good vibes, thoughts, and hugs! :grouphug:

Wow...that was really nice of him....you don't meet nice people like this every day.
I know huh, I was so surprised! It was kind of a funny conversation, I kept explaining that I was on a cruise and wouldn't be back home for a week, and he kept reassurring me that it was okay, it was fine and to go ahead. So there he was trying to talk me into taking merchandise without paying. :rotfl: Then I was just so nervous about it, I had this irrational fear that I would lose the card he gave me with the address to send the check. I probably checked to make sure I still had it a million times before we made it back home.

Here's the kids with their treasures:

I hope your daughter gets good news from this next minor surgery as well. Seems there's been alot this year.:sad2:

Val & Bob --prayers for healing and comfort.
Which Halloween cruise?

Angie & Dennis--prayers for healing and comfort.

Alan--Maho Bay on St Martin is at the end of the runway. If you can't get on airport property to see planes this might work. People say the planes seem to be ready to touch down by the beach towels.

My plan was the beach. I want to get buzzed by a plane.

There were postings about when we could get the shirt material. Becky says we could have the material about 4 weeks from our order date, another 4 to make the shirts. So the issue is when to close the order and payment process. Now that DCL has told some or all of us that the final payment date is ???February 14, 2012, we can't make the paid date for the shirts the same as the FPD date. There is not enough time to get the shirts back and mailed out for the cruise if we order 2-14. Right now, I am leaning toward making January 9, 2012 the final payment for the shirts day. With that date I should have the material to you by March 1 and the shirts out by April 1. With some extra time built in for problems.

My fingers will be crossed for Bob's health and Wellbeing! Poor guy! and poor you, too, I know you're worrying.

Do we have any idea the width of the fabric? I'm willing to pay as soon as you like. We're staying on this cruise!

I'd use a car service (such as Karmel) to DL and then the same back to port on Sailaway day. In my view, There's no benefit in moving to a port hotel. In fact, I think what I just suggested is exactly what we are going to do.

I made a Disneyland Package That is 2 nights at Candy Cane Inn and a 2 day hopper pass. I set up super shuttle thru Disney from Lax to hotel. I need to set up something from Candy Cane to the port on sail away day. Then I need to do transportation from port to an airport hotel after we disembark. I could use a suggestion on a decent inexpensive airport hotel... :worship::scared1::cheer2:
