Can someone give me some insight as to how the DCL transfers work from disneyland hotels? I have still not booked my pre-stay and trying to figure out our best option. I would like to save some money and have thought about staying off property, but as I am traveling with my dad who is suffering from some illness, easy is definitely important. Did I read that you just leave your bags outside of your room (like on the cruise) and they pick them up???? I hate to spend the money, but if this is the case ( plus having the convience of being so close to the parks) easy may trump price!

Update:

Alot of additions in last week. We are up to 4 groups of 26-27 as of now. I am closing this Feb 28th to print and send the groups. I will be including the amount of adults and children per cabin for those who want it.
I have 10 people doing all the groups and a few doing 2. If there is a heartship for anyone to do more then 27 cabins( due to ordering items) please let me know. I would think that 1 or 2 of the people doing all the groups , me included would be able to be left so theres no problems if someone is short a item .I just cant see making another group for 8 people and im trying hard to make everyone happy :goodvibes

Also please for all the GTY's when you are getting cabin numbers assigned let me know. I know some might not know till closer to when we sail but I want to update as much as I can.I plan on being in the promenade lounge at 3 pm prior to sailaway to hand out group rosters and maps with as updated info as i can get.I will also post on my cabin door but right now im a GTY too soo not sure where that will be!
Heather

Heather, you could drop PoohFriend#1 and myself from one or two groups if that would help you. We signed up for all cabins.

Paula, I'm sorry what you are going through. Your family is in my prayers.

Paula, sending you and your family  and best wishes!

Instead of creating a group of 8 people, can you make it 5 groups of 20 - 21?

I am so sorry Paula. (((Hugs))). Sending prayers and :wizard:.

Let me know your cabin number and I can give you a reminder that we are meeting for dinner on the first sem-formal night. ( Thursday May 10th @ 6:00 PM )

:scared1: Wow Deb !!! Could I volunteer to help John pour ? Anything else I could do ? Feel free to ask, that's ALOT to take on.

I KNOW....that's a lot. No I don't want you to volunteer. I want you to be pampered and enjoy yourself. I'll get it taken care of....not to worry. But THANK YOU for offering!!!!

Why??
Jan

WHY? because I am so tall! one panel wouldn't reach my ankles!:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

But I admire all of you making such beautiful items with the fabric.

I set up my sewing machine in my bedroom yesterday to try to get a handle of my sewing......It's really hard right now, we are so busy!

Connie

Thanks.

I was even looking in the Hawaii by Cruise Ship book and could not find any addresses or zip codes in there. This really helps.

Glad that helped.

Just wondering.... did you happen to work an a certain store at Great Northern?? I noticed your first name on the Lanyard List and think we may know each other already.

Please put me on the all cabin list ... Thanks.

Would anyone be interested in dining at Beach Blanket Buffet (I think that's the Topsider's equivilent on the Wonder?)... on formal night?

In other words, a non-formal, formal night dinner? We don't do formal and even semi-formal is a struggle so will dine elsewhere and would love some company.

I'm with you ... Kirstyn and I don't dress up that much ... Formal night is usually a skirt and nice blouse, or the buffet ... maybe we'll see you ... we should be on the same rotation as I'm on the early dining linked group.

I can't wait for the candy swap! Do we give out candy in small groups or one lump package?? thanks.

I'm so sorry to hear about your fathrer in-law ... My thoughts are with you and your husband.

:dance3::dance3: Did the other excursion open up ? Hope you can join the party.

So far I'm on the Hollywood excursion... don't think I'll switch.. I want to be able to say that I ate at a restaurant the Dr. Ross (George Clooney) ate at! Sorry .. I was a huge ER fan!

On other notes ... Love the dress and the earrings .. I hope they make some more soon!

On a happier note ... picked up my new 2012 Corolla today ...My first new car since the late 80s! It is so nice!!!

Re Scavenger Hunt .. I just noticed on the Rollcall that the scavenger hunt has only 3 cabins? I thought I signed up for this? Is it too late now?

MJ

I think way back, someone volunteered for a "book/magazine swap/drop" bag at their door - anyone recall who? If not, I'm happy to do this and donate books to the crew at the end of the cruise. I guess the other question is, is anyone interested in a book swap? Or is everyone kindleing/ipading it these days? ;)

I'm a Nook person, but I will be bringing a couple of books to put in the bag (and maybe grab one to read). There's always room to squeeze a paperback into the suitcase!

I'M IN! Don't plan on hauling formal wear and was planniing a visit to Beach Blanket Babylon (what my friend Ian calls it) that night.

THIRTY WORK DAYS REMAINING TILL RETIREMENT! Two weeks, a week vacation, then four more weeks.....but who's counting?

Paula - our thoughts are with you and your family.

I was reading an article on Christchurch last week. It showed pictures of areas of the city that are still recovering from the quake. One picture was of a hill of rubble in front of a lovely stone church.

I think I may have volunteered to do the book swap and can this time if you like. We are in cabin 6606, which is mid ship. You if want to take it on that is good too. I love actual books. Last night we went to the San Francisco Orchid Show gala (have a bit of the "flu" this morning). Around the corner from the pier where the event is held is the Friends of the San Francisco Library store. They were having a $1 sale on new press release books and I picked up 25. That should keep me a week or two.

Thanks to you and everyone with your kind thoughts and prayers.

There is still a large section of the central city completely off limits - its the zone that had highrises - the Central Business District. They are opening it up slowly as they bring down the highrises. They are planning on a new building code that the maximum height of a building will only be 3-4 stories. Some of the highrises had emergency stairwells collapse with people stuck on the upper floors with no power. 1500 business/commercial buildings are coming down, 10,000+ homes are condemed and every single building has to be checked for safety and damage.

20 years + to rebuild the city. :sad2:

In terms of the book swap, your cabin is more central than ours which is down on deck 2 so is possibly a better location.

Thanks
Every cruise we go on there are people in regular clothes at the dining rooms on Formal and Semi-formal nights. If you like Beach Blanket, go for it, but if you want the regular diningroom, just go there. ::yes::
Jan

Mum's also threatening to rebel against the dining, she didn't like the bland offerings on the WBTA so not sure how often she will join us. She's not into sit down dining or dressing up.

I am from Washington State and we do not have any special candies that I could swap, unless someone loves Reese pnut butter cups and can not get them in their corner of the world then I would be happy to partipate. We love to try new things from around the world. The grocery store is the 1st place we stop when we get to Canada for our favorite treats

Love Reeses! Can't get'em here - or almond joys, or a lot of the US candy... first stop, Walmart ;)

I will ask Corinna if she will pop a note about non-formal dining in the navigator - that way anyone can join the rebels on the top deck :rotfl2:

For the candy swap, I'll pop people into small groups of 10-12 players and you basically just drop a small/snack size candy bar into the FE for those playing your group.

That would be Paula loving the Reeses! :thumbsup2

Deb, Dennis will be available to assist John if you need. You know he will not know what to do with himself with me at CGs! :) Just let me know.

Ya know, that is a great idea. I will take you up on that one. I would love having Dr. Hug there with us. I'll bring him a pink tie to wear, unless he already owns a pink shirt. hahaha. I make John wear a pink shirt. He doesn't mind. He says, "Real men wear PINK." hahahaha.

Not sure if he has pink in his closet. I'll check and see what we can do if he doesn't already have one. I know back in the day he had some pink dress shirts.

I'm going to hop over to Etsy to check out those earrings, wouldn't it be funny if all us girls wore the same style earrings to dinner!

I reallly have the urge to start packing but the hub says NO suit cases on the living room floor before April 1st. I'm mentally packing right now, lol.

Our condo is so small that we have no staging area for packing. I make lists and check them way more than twice! :upsidedow. Suitcases come out of the storage closer the day before departure if we are leaving early and the day of departure if we leave late. Each time a trip is coming I miss the guest room in our last house.

Sadly, I am going to have to CLOSE the Champagne Girls tasting. We have nearly 100 ladies attending. I don't even know if DCL can accommodate all of us. But I can't add anymore because I'll go broke paying for all the champagne and I will run out of pink flowers and leis. So.......

The Champagne Girls tasting is officially closed to any newcomers. If I already have your name, you will be added. But I will not be taking any new names.

Could someone please make a note on page one that the event is now CLOSED. Thanks.

For those who have not participated before, the money we chip in for Champagne Girls barely covers half the cost of the beverges. Previously Deb has paid for all the favors (in our case the leis and hair flowers) and half the bubblies. For 100 of us, that is going to be a larger chunk than in past cruises when the group was 30 plus or minus.

 I would like to suggest that we each plan to bring a few extra dollars to toss into the kitty to help her out. My category is Guzzler and was $10. I am planning to bring at least $5 extra.

I am willing to bet that Deb will tell us she does not need or expect this, but I think it would help her out. She does not need to go broke on this party.

It could be totally anonymous--each of us does what she feels led to do. How about that?

Jan

:thumbsup2 I am sure it has to do with what I ordered.

I keep telling myself the same thing ! My verandah will be on deck 4,9,10. :rotfl2:

::yes:: We cruise in Cat 11 so those are our verandas too and we are happy to share.

This sounds good, Jan.

Angie.. I think I still have a pink wig... :cutie:

I did not think you were taller than I am. (but if you are joking then you need to know I take things literally. My Dad was a big teaser and I never got used to it.)

I wonder if they will have us start a new thread soon.

Usually someone starts a new one at 250 pages--a DISer or a Moderator.
