Randy - sorry I think the link is a little too mature for a family board (even with the warning). If anyone wants it via pm that's fine but I don't think the link itself belongs on the board. Sorry.

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day

.

Here is my own little tip, hope you don't mind Mary . . .

After I printed out my on-line passporter (yes, all 95 pages!) I put them back to back into sheet protectors and into a 1 inch binder.

This was so I could cart it back and forth to the hospital, but it has helped in the long run, I can just grab the book and go, and the pages don't get dog eared with the kids leafing through it either.

Using dry erase markers, in different colors, I am then able to circle, star, cross out whatever I need to, . . .now it is a customized list for packing, and if I ever change my mind, or should I say "use my female right to change my mind", I can just "wipe off" the marker and it is good as new.

Can't wait for Mary's tip of the day tomorrow. . . .:surfweb:

BTW~~ Do all of you "expert cruisers" go every night to the dining room assigned in rotation, or do you ever skip a rotation dining and ever just do the buffet at Topsiders? DH just bought new "dressy" shorts to wear with a collared shirt, but everything I see is "NO shorts" in the dining rooms, for cruise casual, but you can wear jeans. . .just wondered, I know it is probably a personal choice thing and if you add in kids, that can change the choice too.

No problem at all Mary. I hoped the warnings would be enough, but you're right - it doesn't belong here. Someone sent me that link in an email, and I posted it immediately after viewing the video. An impulse post, if you will. :)

Patty,
We have never skipped a restaurant in our regular dining rotation to go to Topsiders. We've skipped to go to Palo (few and far between)

As for shorts. Dressy shorts. I wouldn't think twice if I saw him in shorts. If you're really worried what other people are going to think/say/judge you for, then I'd go no shorts.

Here's a story.....we went on a cruise with my parents once. (DCL). My dad, in all of his manhood wisdom, forgot to pack his dress pants. He had shirts, he had his ties, he had his suit jacket and sports coats, but NO dress pants.

So he wore jeans to every dinner (and this was back when the rule was "no jeans") He even wore his jeans to Palo and to formal night. His only other choice was to buy $80 pants in the gift shop.

I didn't care, he didn't care. If anyone around us cared, they never said anything directly to us. And if they cared, it was ruining THEIR vacation, not ours.

Good morning everyone time for another Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day!

Even if you have an inside cabin you can have a view from the bridge! Your tv has 3 channels dedicated to the cruise itself. These channels give you a wide variety of information. Once shows a camera facing forward just as if you were looking off the bridge.

Another will show time, temperature, distance traveled etc. A third will show information you need to know, repeats of the shopping talks, and repeats of the disembarkation talk.

No problem at all - the more tips the merrier! I started them years ago to help new cruisers and most of them are ones I've picked up from the boards.

As for skipping the dining room, we've only done it for Palo. I've heard good things about the buffet at Topsiders and wouldn't mind trying it. As for shorts in the dining room that is up to you and your DH. I think if it were the first or last night or if it was pirate night no one would bat an eye. Any other night some may notice but I doubt anyone would say anything. If you want a more casual night than the Topsiders option might be a good one.

We were out shopping this morning at Bed, Bath and Beyond and what do we see? :goodvibes

your making me jealous. we don't have a bed bath and beyond, don't think we have them in canada. i was telling my friend, who has a 8 and 10 year old, that it would be the perfect game for her and i to play with her kids. it would be easy and fun. i'll just keep my eyes open for it. i'm going to our local toys r us tomorrow and i'll look there.

That was a HORRIBLE day. 12/28/04
It was the LAST day of a GLORIOUS 10 day cruise.
And it was my birthday.
And the crew of the Disney Magic kicked me off their ship. :(

But in 27 days they will be welcoming you back with open arms!:woohoo:

Looks like they just opened one. Not sure if it is near to you. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.ca/default.asp?order_num=-1& Also doesn't mean they would carry it. I think you might have luck at Toys R Us. If you don't have any luck I can pick one up for you.

I am trying to put up my countdown counter.
Iam not sure if I know what I am doing let's see if it works???

It worked!!:cheer2:

Does anyone know where I can get one of those key to the world holders that go around your neck?? Especially for kids??pirate:

thanks for the link. it is about 2 and a half hours from me so i will not be going there to soon. there is one about 1 and a half hours from me just across the border in the us but i wouldn't be there to soon either. i'll try toys r us. they have tons of stuff, and thanks for the offer. i may have to take you up on that. your fault though, you had to tell me about a nice, new, easy game that could net me a dollar in dimes:rotfl: . i'll let you know how i make out.

we were wondering the same thing about the key to the world card holder are they water proof and will they also hold passports

I got mine, (only bought one to see if I liked it) at the passporter.com website. . .they were not expensive either. . . I don't think they are waterproof though.

They hold kttw, passport, pens and money in a zipper pouch.

back to work for me tomorrow! Had a good week off, got a lot done around the house, some much needed spring cleaning, and got started on organizing things for the cruise! We went out to shop some more today. I think the kids are all set, bought them their formal shoes and bought myself some too, and some sandals!

Boy oh boy do I have stuff to do. I can not wait. I can not wait to see my nieces and nephews see the characters for the first time.

Oh my gosh, I love this thread. Ive been reading trip reports for a while. I can not wait..
:cool1: :rotfl2:

Good morning! Time for another Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day!

Two waterproof disposable cameras are better than one! If you are planning any water activities you may have already thought of bringing a disposable waterproof camera. You might want to bring two. This is especially true if you are doing something like parasailing or jet skis. Why two? So you can get two different perspectives.

For example when I went parasailing I took one up with me and gave one to someone on the boat with me. They took pictures of me going up and down and I took pictures while I was up. Together they tell a great story.

Same thing on CC if one parent is in the water with the kids the parent relaxing on land can take pictures as can the parent in the water.

They don't cost that much and the memories you'll have will be priceless.
