Shhhh.. Don't Tell Anybody!

Your secret is safe with me, but maybe, just maybe, you don't want to post a secret on an open internet message board. (shrug) that's just me though. :) :lmao: :lmao:

Shhhh.. Don't Tell Anybody! :ssst:

Randy. Glad to hear that it work out for Steph. :woohoo: in scheduling the finals. Now you can feel good about making the rest of your plans.

It still not going to be a walk in the park, she has to study and prepare :3dglasses, for the finals and get ready for the cruise. Good luck Steph! :thumbsup2

Well you've got quite a few pages to catch up on but I addressed this a few pages back. buttons and mini navigators are something Mark and I have done with a number of our cruise groups. We've been involved in some very active threads that planned a number of things together. This group didn't get quite that active. Which is fine. Each group has its own vibe. Anyway with so few people participating (especially until very recently) we opted not to order buttons for this group. Lesson learned and I guess I shouldn't volunteer something like that until I get a vibe for the group.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

TA just emailed and we got moved to early seating! This is great for the nieces and nephews! Im so used to eating later on cruises

we have early seating too and I'm a bit nervous about it. We are from the West Coast so it will be even earlier for us and we never eat this early here at home. I also worry about having to rush in from port. But I'm sure we'll be fine! :thumbsup2 I didn't want the kids to miss out on activities in the club tho, and I also didn't want them to be super tired during dinner!

whooohooo!!! My ticker starts with 1 month now!!! So what if it says 4 weeks 2 days right after? It's the 1 month part that matters right?? :rotfl:

Good morning everyone. Happy Wednesday!

Looking like it will be a nice day here in Chicagoland. Those of you to the East might be getting some of the snow/rain/sleet we had yesterday morning.

Member Gallery Update

Amy sent me in a photo of her and Michael for the gallery. I've also added Kay's family plans for the ports. If anyone else wants to include their family plans please either e-mail or pm me. I might not always see any plans posted here in the thread.

I'm applying the Vib-O-Rator 2008 :wizard: to this roll call.

VIBES INCREASING. INCREASING. INCREASING.

Getting really strong vibes now!!!

Hopefully this will help!

good morning :) just checking in while I sit here having my morning coffee and before I have to wake the kids up. Mary, thanks for adding our port plans to the website.

I am so tired this morning. I think I'm a bit under the weather, my stomach has been feeling kinda funky since last night. Please oh please don't let me get the bug that everyone else has been getting. At school, there are some kids that have been sick for 2 weeks!! We send them home by the truckload every day it seems. And I'm the one that sees them, so it's germs galore. I have plenty of hand sanitizers and I do wash my hands often, hoping it will prevent me from catching it but I think it's just a matter of time!

Hope you all have a great day! I'll check in at lunch when I'm home. sadly, the DIS is blocked at work! The NERVE!!

Current Cruise Plans:
Palo Brunch: No vacancies. Going to try the 'elevator rumor' approach.
Palo Dinner: Day 4 at 7pm
St. Maarten: Still undecided
St. Thomas: Still undecided.
Elemis Aroma Stone Therapy: Steph only, Day 2 at 11am.

I am also leaning toward a visit to the
Butterfly Farm in St. Maarten.

My sincere apologies if I offended anyone. That wasn't my intention at all. I agree that this thread has really picked up over the last week or so.

What I meant was that on our other long cruises (the 2004 10 day Christmas Cruise and the 7 day '06 Double Scoop cruise) the meet threads really took off and people were planning all types of things together. We had custom t-shirts made, linked dining, special wine for the group, numerous get togethers, etc. So to keep track of all that I did the mini navigators. Plus we did the buttons so that everyone could be identified as a DISer.

With this group the vibe was just more casual. People didn't check in as often, not many participated in the getting to know you stuff, and we didn't even have a group name. Everyone seemed content with doing things just with their families. All of which is perfectly normal. That's why we didn't feel there was a need for the buttons any longer and why we didn't order them. Plus at this stage with everything we have going on ourselves for the cruise I just don't feel we have enough time to even thing of a design or anything. In fact Mark and I are looking forward to a quieter cruise as well and sharing it with our friends Karen, Mike, KT and Nick. I hope everyone understands.

I guess I should have gone back through the thread and deleated any references. Plus as I said next time I'll get more of a feel for a group before I decide anything.

In contrast our other cruise this year is the DVC Member Cruise. We have a huge group of DISers going, many for the 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th time. We have a lot more plans and the design for that button is easy as it is the Member Cruise life ring we've used since 2003.

I hope this clears things up and again I'm sorry if I've upset anyone with this.

I do hope that everyone can get together at an onboard DIS meet. Is everyone happy with 3pm in the Promonade Lounge on sailing day?

An apologetic UTOP!

PDFG and all our friends who need it.

My sincere apologies if I offended anyone.

Mary
Speaking for myself, you didn't offend me at all. The purpose of my recent post was to hopefully bring smiles - my attempt at humor. LOL - Steph says I should NOT quit my day job to become a comedian. :-)

Anyhow, I understand that each roll call takes on its own personality, based on the mix of people that respond. Personally, I find it comforting that there are at least a few people that I "know" who will be sharing our special vacation.

On my last 3-nite cruise, there were only a handful of people involved in the roll call. We met but only 2 other families showed up. Prior to the meet and greet, we ran into one lady, Sue, and her daughter at the pool and I identified her just based on her description in the posts. She coincidently had sat down on the lounge chair next to me and I asked her if she was Sue. I think it made us all happy to connect with someone with whom we had at least shared some communication - instead of just being on a big ship alone, immersed within a sea of strangers. As the cruise progressed, we would run into Sue from time to time and quickly share experiences. The other family really had no interest in waving hello or sharing experiences after the meet and greet. That was okay too - to each his own. Maybe I pissed them off - these were the folks I promised would see dolphins following the ship out of the port. LOL.

So whatever we've got ... we've got. Some will form bonds for life (like Mary and Karen). Others will just go their own way. And the rest will just enjoy the occasional run-in with an acquaintance who we've shared stories, holidays, and anxieties over the past few weeks and months. :-)

Mary

I assure you we are not offended either. We read the same thing back when I first on the boards. Your reasons were justified and we did not think anything the different. Deb and I are with you all the way. :thumbsup2 Onward, the vide is getting stronger, STRONGER. It will be a blessing just to have an opportunity to meet a fellow DISer, only if they wish to.

Thank you.

Mary,
No offense here. On some of our other cruises we were talking on the DIS 10 or more PAGES a day for 18 months. We, literally, knew the ins and outs of everyone's lives intimately. And formed some really tight bonds. I guess part of my reasoning for not being as involved with this thread are twofold....I'm running in literally every single direction and I don't have a lot of time to be here. The second is the advent of my blog. When things used to happen in my life, I'd run to my cruise meet threads and share them (kids getting into plays, Mike being diagnosed with a kitty litter kidney stone, births, deaths, etc) but now, with my blog, I run there and share it in a different way. I know several of my cruise buddies have followed me there and kept in touch, and some have not. Unfortunately, I just don't have time to double post everything.
I hope that anyone on this thread who sees me onboard will feel comfortable enough to come up to me and say hi. I'll be the slightly overweight girl with spiky hair who is more than likely laughing/playing games/chilling/chasing kids/eating double lobster and creme brulee.
Every cruise I've been on has had a different vibe (as Mary put it). Some have been filled with fellow DIS'ers who have planned out multiple activities a day. Some have been very low key with lots of relaxing and no feelings like I had to be anywhere at anytime. And both kinds were great in their own way.
Personally, with as busy as I've been with the kids, and as busy as Mike has been at work with flu season and with the podcast, we are looking forward to just chilling. I figure the only time we HAVE to move is to get on and off the ship. Other than that, everything is pretty much optional. :) :lmao:

No one was offended here either. In fact, I feel guilty for not checking in more. Things have been crazy around here since I went back to work to pay for this cruise.
Zerog....we are going to the butterfly farm. Just booked it last night. We were not going to do anything on St. Marteen, but my daughter keep seeing a commercial where you can order and raise your own butterfly from larvae
(yuck) We figured it would be easier just to take her there and get it out of her system. We were not going to book through DCL because we know excursions are sometime cheaper on your own, but it wasn't too expensive, less then a hundred for the 3 of us and the son is free!!!!
