Interstate by us closed down this afternoon. Luckily I was going the OPPOSITE direction at the time, but I was surprised that 3 1/2 hours later (on my way home) it was STILL closed.

This is why:

how sad, Karen! :sad2: How many were killed? My MIL lived in Las Vegas and the freeway through the desert was just awful with accidents. We often went there for the weekend, and we often got stuck in traffic for hours coming back home, and there were times when we saw bodies covered with sheets on the side of the road when we finally got to the accident scene! It always bothered me for a long time after!

Good morning everyone!

Karen - what a nasty accident. Unfortunately we see them on the Chicago news all the time.

So what did everyone thing of Idol? White type in case someone hasn't watched yet: It didn't bother me that Brandon was first. After all he did forget the words.

White type: Yup, me either. Any of the bottom three would have been fine. They just didn't stack up next to the top girls. Surprised Sanjaya is still there, but I think part of that is votefortheworst.com's doing.

Only one person in the car. Dead at the scene. They were going EASTBOUND and getting ready to exit. THen suddenly crossed all 3 eastbound lanes AND the grassy median and ended up under the truck.

I missed the actual accident by 15 minutes.

We have them by us a good bit too, but usually I don't have to SEE them! :) Glad about that!

Morning! Went and got a bunch of new pool toys yesterday, there was still a huge selection since it's still sooo early in the season. A lot of people have pools around here and even before summer starts, stores get low on the stuff. I buy the cheap stuff because it's bound to get ripped, etc. but I buy a lot of it, so I always have something handy to blow up ;)

I was miffed yesterday. I had a parent/teacher conference scheduled with my DS teacher. Since he's in the 5th grade, all the parents get a conference, as opposed to the lower grades, where only at risk students need one! Well, his teacher had them scheduled back to back, in 20 min. increments! Ours was at 5:20. We planned on going to dinner after! We get there right at 5:20 and there was a family ahead of us that had the 5pm appointment. The mom said that the people that had the 4:40 appt. had JUST gone in because the people before them took forever! So she was basically 40 min. behind. I was upset because she could have called, you know? We had gone shopping but were home for about 15 min. before we left for the school, and there was no call or message! So I interrupted the conference (hey, if she can be rude, so can I) and told her we weren't going to wait around for 40 min. because we want to go to dinner. She said come back at 6:20. I told her ok, but we may be a bit late! We show up at right before 6:30! Well, there was still someone in there so I am glad we showed up a bit late! As we sat there, another family came for the 6:40 appt. The teacher comes out right at 6:30 and lets both us and the other family come in the classroom! Now, I really don't care about this other student, I don't want to hear about him and his grades, and I don't really like that another family hears about my child. He's got good grades, but there are still some issues I like to discuss with the teacher during conference and I don't really want to do it in front of another family! Anyway, the teacher was completely unorganized. Didn't have certain print outs from tests and had to keep running back and forth between her classroom and another room, where the printer is, to print stuff out! I guess the other kid had a lot of problems with bad grades, so she spent a loooong time talking to the mother, who didn't speak English so there was a language barrier! We just sat around! She finally got to us, and quizzed DS on some social studies stuff so she could make up her mind for the final grade!! By that time, he was tired! It was 8pm by then!! I told her she couldn't possibly expect him to answer her NOW! Shouldn't she have had the grade figured out prior to the conference? All the other conferences I have ever gone to before, the teacher had the report card printed out and ready! This one filled the report card out as we sat there!! She asked Josh what grade he thinks he should get for every subject and then went on to explain to him what grade he's actually getting and why! No wonder it took so long for everyone else! :headache: It was just ridiculous!! I am debating on whether or not I should talk to the principal!

I have today and tomorrow off! I plan on doing a bunch of housework again so I don't have as much on the weekend! My principal said she may give me a few extra hours in the weeks to come since Kindergarten registration started and that's always a busy time of year and they need the extra help!

Kay,
I feel your pain. I had a conference with my kids' teachers this week and it went just as badly. The teacher was scatterbrained! She didn't have anything organized!!! In fact, she hasn't really taught my son school much in the last week! :sad2: And to top it off, she showed up to the conference in a baggy sweatshirt and jeans with a hole in the knee!! I just cannot believe the help schools get these days....

oh....

wait....

uh.....

nevermind. :rotfl2:

You guys may get a kick out of today's blog entry. I got a kick out of writing it: http://www.pediascribe.com/20070315/annual-review/

Mike has been really busy lately so I've been posting things without having him look them over. Won't he be surprised when he actually comes across this one! :)

What happneded? We haven't heard about the wreck or whatever it was. Please let me know. Ohio Mini, How did you get your Ohio Banners that are flying high on this page. We love them! By the way Go Bucks in the NCAA Men's Basketball tourney. I don't love basketball but I have been watching to support our Bucks. As far as IDOL is concerned we are supporting Melinda (we just love her attitude, personality and voice) and LaKeisha aka KeeKee (she has an incredible voice). I wasn't surprised by the results as I figured that those 2 were the weakest 2. Now if we can only get Sanjaya off the show.

Ok Kay really had to hold myself back on a highlight and comment on your post 1st paragraph :rotfl: know this is a family board. yes im a class clown type. We are having Kindergarten regestration starting next week too was given a list from the Principal and all she needs for furniture and rooms know what Ill be doing tomorow the day shoul fly. we are haveing low level flooding here now all the normal levels just higher water levels.

The wreck was someone going eastbound who suddenly swerved, crossed all eastbound lanes, then crossed the median and slammed into the truck. She was 47, and died at the scene. No word yet on WHY she lost control.

The Ohio Banners were borrowed from someone else here on the DIS. I asked permission to "borrow" them for my siggy and they said ok. I give you permission to use them too. :) They are pretty cool!! I don't know that I'll ever take them off b/c I don't know that I'd ever find them again to put them back on! :)

I love Melinda and LaKisha. Time for them to stop being so humble though. They need to stand tall and proud and know they did a great job. :) Not cocky, just confident. It looks like LaKisha goes into another world when she sings.....she doesn't act at all like that in real life, but she gets to singing and she crosses over to another dimension. I'm rooting for those two. We also like Blake here. Love his beat boxing....wouldn't want an entire CD with that on it, but it's cool how he works it in now and again. :)

:lmao: :lmao: I had to go back and read to see what you were talking about! :rolleyes1 Better watch it or I am going to get myself banned! :rotfl2:

went grocery shopping and bought myself some Haagen Dazs Light. Guess what? I managed to only eat about 1/4 of it, and not the whole thing!! Aren't you proud of me? :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone! Happy Friday!

Friday is usually casual day for me, but we are having a group of college kids in for interviews so I'm in a suit. Oh well could be worse.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks for permission to use the flags. They will fly high on my posts once I figure out how to put them on. Can you educate me on how to add them to a post. I am not even that big of a basketball fan and I have been watching and supporting our team. Go Bucks!

We agree about Blake but after a while his beat boxing got on my nerves.

we are really getting the snow have been out and shoveled twice over 8 inches and still comming down Know what ill be doing tomorow morning and 18 degrees

Good morning Cruisers

We sail in 58 weeks!

:shamrock: Happy St. Patrick's Day! :shamrock:

soon it'll be one year... :rotfl2:

Funny story...last night, at 9:15, my daughter presented me with a leprechaun trap! Neither one of my kids have ever done this before, and I wasn't sure what to do with it, so I asked on the CB. I knew they'd have an answer and they did: mess up the room, throw around some glitter, and make it look like a leprechaun was there! I still had some green glitter, so I sprinkled it around, (bad idea, took forever today to get that stuff cleaned up), and made a mess of the room the trap was in. I felt bad that she presented me with it so late, otherwise I would have gone out and gotten some gold coins, etc. but there was no time. I just made it look like the leprechaun was there but got away and hoped she'd be happy!

So this morning, she was up first, she checked her trap and came back upstairs, woke me up by saying "mom, I didn't catch one" She was bummed! She laid with us for a while in the bed and watched cartoons, then she went back down! I heard a scream, then running footsteps up the stairs. She ran in the room and said "I CAUGHT ONE" I was thinking "what the heck??" She had this little plastic leprechaun, about the size of an adult thumb in her hand! How did this happen???? I didn't put it in there, my DH was still sleeping, and so was DS!! :confused3 I questioned DH later to see if he put it in there maybe last night and she just didn't see it this morning, but he said no. I asked DS and he didn't put it in there either!! I am still confused...seriously!!! I have NO idea how it got in there! :confused3 Are they real after all?

Plastic leprechauns are very very real. I've even seen them. The REAL leprechauns aren't as common. I do have one hanging out in my pantry now, but he's plastered on the side of a cereal box. :rotfl2:

Good morning everyone! Did a lot of running around yesterday so today is all about laundry and other fun stay at home activities.

Karen - how is KT's play going?
