Two things to keep in mind. One was one Karen and I discussed before our May cruise when some on our thread were stressing over the perfect formal wear. We may not be the best dressed table, but we'll have the most fun.

In the same mindset (and this is coming from someone who has been involved in some pretty large threads). It is quality not quantity that counts! We've been blessed with some wonderful cruise groups and I think this one will be too even if it stays as small as it is now.

Hi Everyone,
I have been lurking here for a little while and just wanted to let you know that I JUST BOOKED THIS TRIP!!!:cheer2: I have been going back and forth and finally decided to just do it! I called DU this morning.

It will be me, DH and DD princess: (she will be almost 7 on the trip). I hope(!) there will be other children her age on the trip because she is an only child and we always worry (and feel guilty) that she will not have another child to play with.

Okay, now here's my big secret...my DH does not know about the cruise! I am planning on paying for it and scheduling everything and giving it to both of them for a super surprise Christmas gift. :cool1: I don't know if I can keep my mouth shut that long! I'm horrible at secrets, but I really want to make this one happen. And besides, I think that it will be the only way to get him on the ship. He likes Disney well enough (we are DVC members) but he has mentioned that he is getting "WDWed out". I figured the cruise would be a good way for my DD to have all the Disney she wants and loves, but he would have enough cruise amenities to keep him happy, too. Me? I always wanted to take a cruise, always wanted to see the Virgin Islands and I love everything Disney!!! (Okay, now who is this gift REALLY for?????)

Glad to be part of the group!:grouphug:
Christi

Welcome, Kristi!!!!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Glad you've been lurking a bit....so you won't be overwhelmed at how crazy we are (mostly Jen and Kay!!!) :lmao:

It's possible to keep the surprise! Dh have kept a WDW trip and a DCL trip a surprise from our kids before (and didn't tell them till we were heading out for the airport both times!)

On our Blabbermouth cruise, one woman kept it a secret from her kids until the Christmas prior. She said having the DIS as an outlet to talk about it really helped her keep the surprise. :)

Glad you are joining us!!!!! I'm sure Mary will post information for how to get on her website page: http://monorailgreen.info/April08/photoindex.htm

I don't think you guys are crazy!! You may think I'm crazy after a bit. I love, love, love to plan trips (again, another reason my DH won't be all that shocked...he knows me weel enough). I am actually in the midst of planning a family Magical Gathering for this upcoming June.

We (me, DH, DD, my MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL, 2 nieces and 1 nephew) are going to WDW from June 9-16, 2007. We are staying at BCV (which I can't wait to see!!!!!) on our DVC points. We decided to take the entire fam because it would be the only way our nieces and nephews could see "the World". My BIL and SIL live on a shoestring and we don't want our nieces and nephew to miss WDW as a kid. And we added my MIL and FIL because it wouldn't be a family trip without them. They are hilarious and we always have a blast when we are together.

So anyways...I am in my glory planning 8 days for 10 people and now I have the cruise to start planning as well.

Thanks for the welcome...I appreciate it!
Christi

Welcom Christy:cheer2:

Mary - I tried to ask tech questions last night (iphone - chat room) so maybe, just maybe I could get a response from Mark. Apparently I'll have to wait and think of a better question to get him to respond (for goodness sakes he responded to Kay's dress question).

Oops, ya know what, I spelled your name wrong. I saw Christi and immediately thought "Kristi" because I know a Kristi who spells it Kristi. :)
Sorry!!!

Karen,

Whenever I post I'm always concerned if I spelled everything right and if the pronunciation is correct. I never know if you have red pen in hand ready to correct me:rotfl:

What? And write on my laptop screen??? :lmao: No way.

I'll give ya a bit of grief if you do something funny i.e. someone from our Blabbermouth cruise wanted to say he was "stirring the pot" but he said "sitting the pot" so I gave him a bit of hassle over that. I made him a magnet for his stateroom door with a toilet picture on it that said something like "Home of Mr. Scuba---he sits the pot." :lmao: Someone else kept trying to say "you betcha" but in one post she said "you batcha" and in the other she said "you vetcha" So I actually made a sign for her stateroom door with a Mickey on it that said "are we having a good time yet? You VETCHA BATCHA we are!"

As for other things, I'm not going to call ya on it. Heck, when I type here on the DIS I don't get everything write. There will be times I'll write it's when it should just be its or something like that. Or I'll drop a common in a compound sentence.

So don't worry about me....unless your typo makes something REALLY funny....then you'd better be checking your stateroom door for magnets! :)

We jokingly call my husband the "red pen of life". He let's nothing get by him!!! Sometimes, it is exhausting!

UTOP

Good morning!! It's a beautiful day here in Southern California! Today would be my day off, but I am going to substitute for someone at my kids school office! I used to work there VERY part time until I got my other job at the other elementary school. I told them I'd sub for them anytime they need me though (well, only on Thursdays and Fridays since those are my days off).

Other than that, it'll be busy for me today. I have to put together all the cub scouts awards. Tonight is our Blue & Gold dinner, and my DS will be receiving his Arrow of Light (highest achievement you can receive in cub scouts) and he will be "bridging" to boy scouts! I am going to cry, I just know it! It will also be my last day as awards chair!

I'll be back in a bit, have to take the kids to school in a few min.!

I'll correct my dh and my kids....like when they say something to the effect of "she did really good on that project."

No...she did WELL on it.

Or "me and KT are going to play in the playroom."

No....KT and I. :)

But my grammar isn't perfect, nor is my spelling. :) Especially in everyday converstation or informal writing. If I'm writing something important, I'll double check it for mistakes. But not when I talk or write informally. I have so much to say and so little time to say it. I need to get it down and out! :) :lmao: If I checked for grammar mistakes in every post I wouldn't be at 12K+ posts! :lmao:

Kay I'm sure over the next year or so we'll get more cruisers. Right now everyone is caught up in all the hype of the repo cruises and mexican cruises. Happens all the time. So I'm sure once that hype dies down we'll see some more. Plus new people find this site all the time and that is how we get new cruisers as well.

yeah, I guess. I also have to remind myself that not everyone is as obsessive compulsive about vacation planning as I am and books their vacation more than a year out! :rotfl:

Funny, last night, I thought Mark was YOU for a post or two! I didn't look at the name, and your siggies look almost identical!

And, even if NO ONE ELSE finds us, we are going to have a ROCKING* GOOD time! :)

*Rocking does not imply there will be a lot of ship movement and sea sickness problems. :lmao:

don't say that! I am REALLY worried about this rocking stuff after reading becka's trip report! :sad2: Maybe hers had to do with the time of year also? But at the least I am glad that I am now on deck two. She was on 5!

you guys keep me sane! I don't know what I would do without you. Everyone around me is getting tired of hearing about this cruise, and we're still 15 months away! Not like I can keep my mouth shut about it for that long! At least here I know you guys won't get tired of it. OR WILL YOU??? :rotfl:

What I hate about formal clothes is you don't feel really comfortable in them, so I am happy to hear you guys don't dress to the nines! Is there time to go back to your stateroom and change between dinner and the show?

Christi

Hi Christi!! Welcome! :cheer2: I think Jen has a daughter your age, don't you, Jen? My daughter will be 8 when we cruise but she plays with younger kids all the time. I could NEVER keep this cruise a secret!! I plan on getting a stretch limo to take us to the airport here and pick us up when we return home and I am trying to keep that a secret. My kids have always wanted to ride in a stretch limo. It's HARD to keep the secret, I just wanna tell them. But then I think of how surprised they'll be when I say "ok guys, our shuttle is here" and they walk outside and see the LIMO, and I keep my mouth shut!

Oh, and my family never would have thought of going on a Disney cruise if it weren't for me! My kids are excited now of course, but never would have cared if I had never mentioned going! But this is MY dream vacation, it's well known in my house this cruise is for ME! It's my birthday the day before we sail and I never thought I'd be this excited to turn 34!

Karen,

Whenever I post I'm always concerned if I spelled everything right and if the pronunciation is correct. I never know if you have red pen in hand ready to correct me:rotfl:

You had me soooo nervous that I should have said punctuation instead of pronunciation.:rotfl:

Glad you've been lurking a bit....so you won't be overwhelmed at how crazy we are (mostly Jen and Kay!!!) :lmao:

hey now!! I saw that!! That's ok though, if Christie read the thread, she'll know who the *really* crazy people are around here!!! *hint...it's not me*

Glad you are joining us!!!!! I'm sure Mary will post information for how to get on her website page: http://monorailgreen.info/April08/photoindex.htm

actually, there are instructions on page 1, first post! And if Karen paid ANY attention, she'd know that!! :lmao:

Hi Christi!! Welcome! :cheer2: I think Jen has a daughter your age, don't you, Jen? My daughter will be 8 when we cruise but she plays with younger kids all the time.

When we cruise the girls will be 8, 12 & almost 15.

My youngest has a leap day birthday. I usually make a moist yellow cake with creamy fudge frosting (Oh sorry Kay) and give her half the cake on Feb. 28th with 1/2 the candles and we have the other half of the cake on March 1st.

Also, I'll give her a gift on the 28th and the 1st. There will be a February 29th in 2008 so we are so excited.
