If you believe in prayers they would be appreciated by the tragedy at NIU this afternoon. This university is one my company visits for recruiting and three of the people on my team are graduates of this school. Very very sad. :sad2:

Northern Illinois University - I've never heard of that college (until today). I can only image it is small and therefore it is probably a close-knit community. Nonetheless, it's always sad to hear about such tragedies. People should try to make their mark on the world in positive ways. Killing is the coward's way out.

Let's see if I remember how to insert an image.

Nope! But if you go to the link, that is a picture of my DW Steph, practicing to be the next 'Gator Hunter.' She was helping to take blood samples from alligators that day. The gator is alive (and thankfully not kicking) and was released back in the wild unharmed.

Type {img}
then put the website where the picture is
They type {/img}

But....Do not use the { } keys, instead use the [ ] ones.

OR.....click on the little icon above the text box that looks like a mountain scene (little yellow square with grey triangles) and then enter the website where the picture is located

HTH

Haven't seen the news so no idea about NIU. Will check it out.

Our weather the other day we had everything rain sleet and snow as the day went on and temperatures went down. seems we are getting active conversations going. Thought we would add another question for everyone where do you plan to be for the sail away party. on the first cruise we were down on the pool deck for awhile the second cruise we were up on the deck above being rail hugger and watching the action.

Mike,

We are usually on deck 10 on the side by the port (not to be confused with the port side). :) If there is something special like on the DVC Member Cruises we'll stay mid-ship. For the regular cruises we usually go more forward. DH will call his dad right about time for the horn so they can hear it and we can rub it in that we are cruising without them. :lmao:

On our May '06 cruise a bunch of us went down to deck 4 to hang a banner and wave to our friend Garry who was hanging out at Jetty Park.

For our last May cruise, we went to deck 10 starboard side so that the kids could both see the Sail Away Party and also wave to the people on the shore. So many times, it was US waving to the people on the ship - I wanted to give the kids a chance to see how it felt being the 'waver' rather than the 'wavee.' :)

The dolphins made a liar out of me (fish kind, not football team) - I told some folks that you can see dolphins in the water as the ship leaves the port, but none showed up that day. However, 9 out of 10 times we go to Jetty Park, we see dolphins. We usually see juvenile sea turtles, and sometimes sting rays and manatees.

So unless the kids want to go to Deck 9 for the Sail Away, we'll probably go back to deck 10 for the 'wildlife.' :thumbsup2

Seems it doesn't work with picasa. That's the problem.

Here's a photo of Steph with an Indigo Snake - one of the ones she was tracking last year.

well, I reserved our stretch limo. I am so excited. This will be a surprise for the kids. they have been bugging me to ride in a limo for the longest time so I booked it for airport pickup, roundtrip. The price isn't so bad, $295 round trip plus tip. We live about 45 minutes from LAX. It's a 10 person stretch limo. I thought I'd go a bit bigger even though there are only 4 of us, just so we can store our luggage somewhere and won't have to worry about it not fitting in the trunk!

I am getting really, really super excited for the cruise!!! I am counting down the days!!

We will try to be on Deck 10 starboard side cameras and drinks in hand and ready for a week of fun in the Caribbean with new friends. Randy is Steph a biologist

Eileen
Steph is a wildlife biologist, mostly working with gopher tortoises and indigo snakes. It IS something to see Steph, all 5' 2" of her, holding a 7 foot snake. Football size men scream like girls when Steph asks if they would like to hold the snakes themselves. :rotfl2:

Granted, many people are afraid of snakes. :scared: Steph tries to get people to appreciate nature. She's been to my son's elementary school twice to give a talk on reptiles. She brings a couple of corn snakes for the kids to hold. We have a corn snake as well, named "Tickle" by my DD, because that was what it felt like to her when he crawled up her arm.

Good morning Cruisers

We sail in 10 weeks!

Good morning everyone! For those who haven't been reading the main cruise forum I thought I'd let you know we won't have to fill our the Bahama Immigration form any longer. This used to be a paper form that came with your documents but now DCL is transmitting that info electronically. So if you did online check-in you are done!:thumbsup2

Randy - great pictures. Remind me not to get in an argument with her or she'll duck tape my mouth. :lmao:

Good Morning All,

Has anyone taken or have information on the Pinel Island Snorkel excursion in St Maarten. :confused3

sunny morning here and 29 degrees out anyone know where the two palms cam is located we told our son we would wave to him as we sail by. any more up dates as to the April shuttle launch Randy.... getting ready to watch the Nationwide (Busch) race soon. Mike

any more up dates as to the April shuttle launch Randy....

The launch is still scheduled for Thursday, April 24 at 8:26 a.m. EDT. That will make for a nice wake-up call for those returning, if it slips to Saturday. On the other hand, there will be a very slow drive to the Orlando airport. :snail:

Member Gallery Update

We have a new photo up in the Member Gallery. ldcruisers (Lee and Debra) sent in their photo. Stop by and meet them.

Keeping us on page one. Getting ready to settle in to watch the Daytona 500 We are thinking of checking the clothes we plan on taking for the cruise this weekend as tomorrow is a holiday.

Getting ready to watch the race here as well. One of the DIS "kids" from our 2004 cruise is being sworn in before the race (he has joined the Air Force). Hope we get to see him.

It is time to start thinking about what we are going to wear. yikes!

I hope some one can enlighten us on what we have to look forward to. . .plus we have 3 kids who are excited but nervous about what to expect. They are 15, 10 and 9.

I started the attire shopping today. . . for the DD (10). More to do though!!!:yay:
