April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

Ok, I'll go first, since I made them up...

1. What is one thing that you're packing that you just can't leave home without?
Over the door shoe holder - you can pack a lot of stuff in that thing.

2. What is one thing that you're packing that you don't quite know why you're bringing, but it's packed anyway?
Laundry detergent, dryer sheets and quarters. I always bring them, just in case, but I've never ended up using them. But, my last 3 cruises have been 4-nighters, so I haven't really needed to do laundry.

3. How many suitcases are you packing? If you haven't packed yet, what's your estimate?
I haven't started yet, but my estimate is 4 suitcases, 1 carry-on bag and our laptop (for downloading pictures).

4. What time do you plan on arriving at the port to check in?
Our plan is to be there between 10-10:30am, barring any unforseen "emergencies".

5. Have you packed anything that is kinda bizarre, but you just have to bring it along?
The only thing that I can think of is my small sewing kit. I bring it just in case of a popped button, ripped seam, etc.

6. What one tip that you've either used or read on the DIS that you think is the most important?
Read your Navigator and highlight things that you want to do. I've missed a few things that I would have liked to see because I wasn't reading it closely.

So, I thought I was done, but then when I went to pack my carryon I realized I had nowhere near enough stuff to entertain the kids for 5 hours. So, I went shopping at Toys R Us and spent $150!!!:scared: :scared: :scared: I'm going to split the stuff in half so I have enough for the flight home which is 6 hours.
We've done the same! I had all these activites planned for both trips--sticker books, free printouts from Nick Jr and Noggin websites, etc. Then Justin decided the Easter Bunny had to bring them each a Leapster. And games. :sad2: Justin thinks they should each get a new one for the way there and again for the way home. Ugh. We bought four games the day before Easter (at 25 bucks a pop!) but only gave two that morning. Luckily we've found some on ebay and others on clearance at Wal-Mart, but still, it's adding up! Justin told our friends that if we didn't get these, the plane trips would be a trainwreck "because we have nothing to fall back on." Excuse me...I spent how long getting these binders full of fun stuff ready to go! I'm sure they would be perfectly fine with what I did for them...but you know men and their electronic gadgets. I only agreed to Leapsters instead of GameBoys since they're educational. Then we realized they should each have headphones, too, so the other passengers won't want to wring our necks because they're being driven crazy by "The letter letter A, the letter letter A. Every letter makes a sound, the letter letter A." I have to admit, though, they do love them! So it will be worth it, but now I've got all this other stuff to carry on, too!

We CANNOT get sick! That is my motto. I saw a little boy sneeze this morning at school and snot was just dripping down his face. Normally, I would be nice and find him a tissue, but this morning, I am sad to say, I RAN.
We've kind of started feeling a little under the weather. Hopefully it will clear up in the next day or so. Lennon has had a barely runny nose. Justin had a mild sore throat, and now mine feels a little dry. STAY AWAY SICKNESS!

My house looks like a tornado hit it and I HAVE to go clean it.
Mine does, too! Stuff EVERYWHERE!

What day is the last day everyone going to post? I think I will be the last one to be on our way to FLORIDA! Flight leaves at 6:20 am on Saturday, so we will be leaving the house about 4:30 to go to the airport. Hopefully be at the port by noon!:cheer2:
Probably either Thursday night or Friday morning. It sounds like a handful of people are leaving in the next 1-3 days, so for those people, (in case I miss you) I hope you all have a safe and fun flight/drive! See you at the boat!

1. What is one thing that you're packing that you just can't leave home without?
My daughter can't decide on what outfits to keep home, so she is bringing like 10 outfits. Me, nothing special.

2. What is one thing that you're packing that you don't quite know why you're bringing, but it's packed anyway?
Pirate game from POTC2

3. How many suitcases are you packing? If you haven't packed yet, what's your estimate?
4 suitcases coming, and probably 5 going home

4. What time do you plan on arriving at the port to check in?
Plane gets in at Orlando 9:35 am, get luggage, get to the bus about 10:15, depending when the bus leaves, between 11:30 and noon

5. Have you packed anything that is kinda bizarre, but you just have to bring it along?
nothing that I would call bizzarre

6. What one tip that you've either used or read on the DIS that you think is the most important?
Go to the concergie desk first thing to make arrangemetns for wine tasting and take the autograph item

Hi Everyone:cheer2: I woke up this morning and said, ugg, it's Monday - and then I said, HEY IT"S MONDAY!!!!!!! Woooo Hoooo!!!!

em5sm2.jpg
That pic is so cute....She's looking at it with such wonder! It's a real "innocence" photo!

Molli, those photos of Tritons are great! I wonder who the lucky family will be to sit right in front of that mural?
And that photo of Paige with the ship - I'm gonna copy that, it's great:thumbsup2

SnowyW...My sister lives in Pearl River and it sounds like you guys have the same situation...She gave birth to her third on Sunday and I'm sure the basement wasn't even on their mind! But normally, they've got problems, just like that...Good Luck!

:"Girls just wanna have fun" and features princesses making crazy faces. Cracked me up!! You better believe it's going on our door.
Is that the one of the Risque Princesses??? We got a kick outta that one:laughing:

Thanks for the list Amy:thumbsup2

I don't know where I am going to fit that fan in the bags.Jenni

Jenni, I can't wait to see the hair, really, I love that stuff!!!
And you and your fan! Don't you know they sell Sound Machines? They're at Wal-Mart for like, $10! When Eddie worked midnights, his mom bought him one from Sharper Image for $150! We're talking fifteen years ago. When I saw it at WalMart for $10, I was floored:eek:
They work great, you should give that a shot! 'Cuz I can't imagine how to pack that thing!:rotfl2:

Flight leaves at 6:20 am on Saturday, so we will be leaving the house about 4:30 to go to the airport. Hopefully be at the port by noon!:cheer2: Paula pixiedust:

Woah! LEAVING THE HOUSE AT 4:30 Means you're either (1) Not Going to Sleep; or (2) Waking up Real Real Early! You better jack up the Caffeine intake!

Our group is on one flight, together. Ed's mom, Angie, is too much - Normally if we vacation with Ed's sister, she doesn't want both families on one plane because if the plane went down, she would have no kids left - so she's on this flight with us, so if it goes down, she's going down, too:laughing:
I guess when you're a parent, these are the things you think of, right?
You know, I'll be taking a Xanex and a glass of wine before I board. One time when we flew, there was turbulence. The kids, they were young, they said, Oooh! It's like a Roooollller Coaster, Mommy!! and I just said, Yeaaahhhh, Jusssss Liiiiiiiike a Roooooollller Coooaster! Woooo! That stuff really makes me loopy!

But we're leaving Friday afternoon and we'll be in Port by 9:00 p.m. or so....
The husbands and kids will be at the pool......Moi? I'm not sure yet. I usually like to putz around and get the clothes ready for the next day. But if there's a party, I"M IN:thumbsup2

1. What is one thing that you're packing that you just can't leave home without?
My camera/video camera, I guess...I love to take pictures.

2. What is one thing that you're packing that you don't quite know why you're bringing, but it's packed anyway?
I'm not finished putting everything in the suitcases yet....But I did download the words to that Weird Al parody, the one Kyra doesn't want me to sing:rotfl:

3. How many suitcases are you packing? If you haven't packed yet, what's your estimate?
Girls - 1 big each/1 carry-on; Ed - 1 big/1 valet; Me - 1 medium/1 valet, 1 carry on and 1 Extra for souveniers...How the heck are we gonna fit all this stuff in the room!?!?!.

4. What time do you plan on arriving at the port to check in?
Same as you Amy - between 10-10:30am. The men will be dropping the cars off at Budget after "unloading" us at the terminal.

5. Have you packed anything that is kinda bizarre, but you just have to bring it along?
Is this a trick question?!?! I've read a thread on Just This Subject!!!!

6. What one tip that you've either used or read on the DIS that you think is the most important?
Extension Cord for the room for the chargers. That sticks in my mind. And the hangers with the clips on them (like the ones that hold slacks) so there's more room on the clothing line in the shower to hang clothes..Just clip your wet suit, each piece, to a different hanger.

I sometimes sneak over to the kids' thread and they are excited...I love the way Monica posts, she's so funny:laughing: These kids are going to have a great time!

I'll "speak" to everyone tomorrow - For those leaving early, I'll repeat Val's Good Wishes for a Safe Trip!:grouphug:

1. What is one thing that you're packing that you just can't leave home without?
First, my family. (Are you imagining me trying to squeeze everyone inside their own suitcase? :lmao:) Then the camera.

2. What is one thing that you're packing that you don't quite know why you're bringing, but it's packed anyway?
Probably the laundry stuff--detergent, dryer sheets, quarters. It's for "just in case." Between the messy eater who doesn't like to take time away from fun to go potty :scared: (please don't get kicked out of the OC, Lennon, PLEASE!) and the possibility of motion sickness, I'd rather be prepared than smell "odors" the entire time.

3. How many suitcases are you packing? If you haven't packed yet, what's your estimate?
Right now, we have two big, two small, a garment bag, a rolling backpack with a daypack (which I think will have to be two carryons instead of kept together as one), and probably "Jumbo" the purse. I got Jumbo as a gift, but I usually carry a much smaller purse. We use it for longer outings out of town, etc., when I'll need extra room for everyone's stuff. Plus an empty duffel for the trip home.

4. What time do you plan on arriving at the port to check in?
10 AM. Towncar is picking us up at Fairfield Inn at MCO at 8:30 and heading straight there (I'm sure we'll even be there before 10, but we are allowed a 30 minute stop, too, so we may take advantage of that for who-knows-what).

5. Have you packed anything that is kinda bizarre, but you just have to bring it along?
We're planning on bringing pictures of the boys' stuffed "friends" instead of the real thing so they can still sleep with them without risking losing them. Grandma Linda is going to take care of all of them while we're away, but having photos of them will help. I hope.

6. What one tip that you've either used or read on the DIS that you think is the most important?
Get to the port early. Oh, and the signed photo mat.

Whew!!! Finally finished packing -- we are leaving for the airport in less than eight hours -- eight short hours until we are on a plane to Orlando and warm weather. I have not felt excited yesterday and today, probably because I have felt so overwhelmed getting all of the details done. Now.........I wish I had a sleeping pill since the excitement is hitting!!!

Safe travels to all of you. We'll see you at Port Canaveral (Doesn't that just sound good:cool1: )

Wendy

Well I just cured my stress problem....I called in sick. :thumbsup2 Way too much going on here. I have a headache. I'm hoping that it's stress related and that I'm not coming down with something. We got our automated call from the fire department last night that the river will crest on Wednesday evening at 8:00. That's "great" because our flight leaves at 8:20.:scared1: Our neighbors have assured me that they will take care of our house if there is a problem. Our pump is turning on every minute (yikes!). My house is a mess, too. Hopefully, I'll get something done today. I have to drive DD to school so I will answer the questions later. Meanwhile, I have a song that won't get out of my head. It's the song from Winnie the Pooh...."Oh the rain, rain, rain, came down, down, down."

 koby!! i hope today is just what the doc ordered for you and your headache hits the road!

thanks for the packing list, i'll use it to double check and cross-reference :rolleyes1 anal obessesive planner that i am :rolleyes1

1. What is one thing that you're packing that you just can't leave home without?

i have pretty much stuck to the list this time, after cruising last year and taking things that pretty much never left my suitcase:laughing: I guess my pins -- i thought i could resist some pin trading but it won't happen!

2. What is one thing that you're packing that you don't quite know why you're bringing, but it's packed anyway?

a whole bag full of OTC meds, it settles my maternal side but hopefully it will not come out of the suitcase!!

3. How many suitcases are you packing? If you haven't packed yet, what's your estimate?

right now i have laid out 3 rolling suitcases, one rolling duffle bag, one larger toiletry type bag, one garment bag and one BIG carryon for everyone -- i think it will suffice. we have one bag packed for the return home, plus our Castaway Club drawstring bag to use on ship and can be another carryon home if needed

4. What time do you plan on arriving at the port to check in?

we are staying at Cocoa Beach, so i don't plan on rushing in the morning. my girls don't rush well in the morning  but i know we'll be excited too. we'll just get up, probably normal 7 a.m. ish and casually get ready and head over - i hope/plan to be there by 11 a.m. hopefully more like 10:30

5. Have you packed anything that is kinda bizarre, but you just have to bring it along?

umm.....is this kinda private :rolleyes1  :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

6. What one tip that you've either used or read on the DIS that you think is the most important?

so many -- over the shoe organizer, bathroom air freshener, items to be autographed, door signs, getting to port earlier (we got there at 4 p.m .for our first 4 day cruise on the land/sea package)

Good morning everyone....I'm off to work. I'm real envious of those of you who can stay home! I have to hand in a report tonight at school and I don't think it's really what the professor wanted, but I'll give it a shot anyway. I'm also stressing because I can't sign up for the Fall schedule until tomorrow and there are only 7 seats left in the class I want....Oy Vey!

I KNOW you are all excited!
Last time we got to port in the early afternoon. I don't know what we're going to do with all this extra time since we're arriving when the terminal opens? What restaurant do you think they'll shuttle us over to first?

I'm hoping that it's stress related and that I'm not coming down with something. ."

Better run out and get Airborne, just in case!

We got our automated call from the fire department last night that the river will crest on Wednesday evening at 8:00. That's "great" because our flight leaves at 8:20.:scared1: Our neighbors have assured me that they will take care of our house if there is a problem. Our pump is turning on every minute (yikes!). ."

God Bless You! Have a productive day straightening up...I hope everything works out all right.

Good morning everyone! I missed chatting last night. The wind has caused major power outages in our area. Nearly every house within 1 hour of here had zero electricity last night. Fun. :scared: Some restaurants & shopping centers had it, but for all of us in the boonies we were in the dark. Thankfully daycare & my work had power, so we're back to normal today.

1. What is one thing that you're packing that you just can't leave home without?
Camera, memory cards, batteries & charger.
2. What is one thing that you're packing that you don't quite know why you're bringing, but it's packed anyway? Half of a medicine cabinet. :lmao: Just in case we need anything, I want to be sure we have it.

3. How many suitcases are you packing? If you haven't packed yet, what's your estimate? One large, one medium, and Emily's small Princess one. Then a couple of small carry on bags for the plane.

4. What time do you plan on arriving at the port to check in? We're leaving the hotel around 9:15 am. So hopefully around 10:30, if all goes well.

5. Have you packed anything that is kinda bizarre, but you just have to bring it along? Ummm....I don't think so?

6. What one tip that you've either used or read on the DIS that you think is the most important? Bring highlighters for the Navigators. Remember to relax and go with the flow, don't try to do it all.

We'll see you at Port Canaveral (Doesn't that just sound good:cool1: )
I know Wendy's probably in the air right now and won't see this, but it sure does sound good!

I called in sick. :thumbsup2
:thumbsup2 Good for you!

Oh, Tricia! I sure hope everything stays dry for you!

weather.com
I can usually trust this, but I've been constantly checking Omaha, Minneapolis, Orlando, Cape Canaveral, and Key West. Within a couple hours yesterday, Omaha and Minneapolis went from sunny to thunderstorms! :scared1: I sure hope it changes back to sunny real fast...and stays that way!

5. Have you packed anything that is kinda bizarre, but you just have to bring it along?

umm.....is this kinda private :rolleyes1  :rotfl2: :thumbsup2
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I thought the same thing, too!

Glad you're able to be back with us today! Hopefully it stays on for you, too!

1. What is one thing that you're packing that you just can't leave home without?
Camera, memory cards, batteries & charger.
Spoken like a true "photo-aholic!" :rotfl2:

2. What is one thing that you're packing that you don't quite know why you're bringing, but it's packed anyway? Half of a medicine cabinet.
Justin keeps asking if we really need to bring all this OTC stuff. "Don't they have it available on the ship if we need it?" I say better safe than sorry!

3. How many suitcases are you packing? If you haven't packed yet, what's your estimate? One large, one medium, and Emily's small Princess one. Then a couple of small carry on bags for the plane.
Seriously?!?!?! THAT'S IT?!?!?! I want to know your secret! :lmao:

I'm still trying to get the boys' passports. I've called SIX TIMES! They keep telling me their servers are down. I'm talking to her right now, and somehow they "miraculously" came back on after I asked to talk to her supervisor. Lennon's is ready to be overnighted  and Hudson's...(I'm waiting for her to check) is too!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: She saw a tracking # for Lennon's and then rechecked Hudson's, and his had just gotten one in the couple minutes since she had checked it! :dance3:

1. What is one thing that you're packing that you just can't leave home without? Portable DVD player. I have a small fear of flying (actually crashing) and watching movies has always seemed to pass the time quickly.

2. What is one thing that you're packing that you don't quite know why you're bringing, but it's packed anyway? DW's 50 pairs of shoes

3. How many suitcases are you packing? If you haven't packed yet, what's your estimate? I think 5 for the 4 of us.

4. What time do you plan on arriving at the port to check in? Whenever the shuttle gets us there. :)

5. Have you packed anything that is kinda bizarre, but you just have to bring it along? I have a safari type hat that I bought on our first trip to Disney World 7 years ago. I always bring it along on Disney vacations. It has a few pins on it for trade and ones I like. DW hates it. Apparently I was wearing it for the boarding picture last time. DW says I can bring it, but I can't wear it for that picture.:lmao:

6. What one tip that you've either used or read on the DIS that you think is the most important? HAVE FUN!!!

On a sad note, another message board I frequent for my sports fix (motownsports.com) is reporting that the top poster on the site died yesterday in the shootings at Virginia Tech. It is hard to quantify the hurt I feel for someone I have never even met, but whose opinion on Tiger baseball I always appreciated.

So, if you see me walking around the ship and think that might be Kevin from the Dis. Please say Hi. You all of have made the anticipation of this trip a little more bearable and I would like to meet you.

In addition, if someone could please post the meets again I would appreciate it. I am a fly by the seat of my pants guy while on vacation, but will try and meet up with some of you.

Kevin

1. What is one thing that you're packing that you just can't leave home without? I think we're done packing. I'm now in the mode of as long as we have cash and our mastercard we're good to go.

2. What is one thing that you're packing that you don't quite know why you're bringing, but it's packed anyway?I can't think of anything. But I bet I would find something in my husband's suitcase that would answer this question. He is an "overpacker"! If it ain't nailed down he packs it.

3. How many suitcases are you packing? If you haven't packed yet, what's your estimate? 3 suitcases, 2 rolling duffle bags, 3 carry ons.

4. What time do you plan on arriving at the port to check in?between 10:30 and 11:00.

5. Have you packed anything that is kinda bizarre, but you just have to bring it along?I bring double and triples of everything...sunscreen, sunglasses, reading glasses (yup, we're old!!!), otc medicines
6. What one tip that you've either used or read on the DIS that you think is the most important?relax and let it happen!!!

5. Have you packed anything that is kinda bizarre, but you just have to bring it along? I have a safari type hat that I bought on our first trip to Disney World 7 years ago.

:lmao: When I read safari hat, for some reason I started singing "In the jungle, the mighty jungle the lion sleeps tonight......" Yet you all thought I was kidding when I said I NEEDED this vacation.

:grouphug: I'm so sorry. That tragedy happened about 1.5 hours from where we live. It's all over the TV, newspapers, etc. here. I pray all their families can find some type of peace.
