April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

:scared1: :umbrella: Cheryl!! and everyone else in the path of the storm  and :tinker: pixiedust: for this nor'easter to get a move on it!

crazy weekend -- sounds like everyone who is left home now is reaching the scurrying about phase of packing! hehehe me too!! I took both DDs and a friend to the mall yesterday, spent just as i predicted but i did get a final return of our shirts from Disney store. We have Pirate themed shirts --- so that's what we'll be in. like POC themed. NO BODY mention to paige that hers is really a 'boys' shirt :rolleyes1 my little princess: her and friend got matching sequined tank tops from Ltd 2 and they were so cute, i was easedropping as we were walking out to the van and they were planning their outfits and what would look good with their new shirts :rotfl2:

thanks for asking about my 1/2 marathon event :thumbsup2 it's always fun to talk about them and legally i have bragging rights for one week :thumbsup2 then i'm not allowed to bore anyone with my stories. i was soooo thankful the weather held out for us. my calves are more sore today! there was about 3100 folks on the course so it was a great size with a decent amount of cheerers along the way, considering the weather. The OSU pep band played as we circled around the "shoe" which :rockband: There was a group of miliary men that inspired me....the completed the course in their fatigues, boots and backpacks weighing 46 lbs! (did i tell you already? sorry if i did)

Paige wants to check the kids thread before school............i'll be back

I have one more picture frame mat left. Anyone want it??

Good morning everyone!

Emily's party was a success. Saturday morning she was almost bouncing off the walls from the excitement. Here's my almost five year old before the party started:

Later, right after blowing out the candles. She stepped way back from the cake, guess she thought it would fall or something. :lmao:

Yesterday we had rain & high winds nearly all day. This morning it's sunny, but the wind is howling. I just keep thinking "a few more days until tropical weather....." ;)

We told Emily yesterday that she'd have a short week at daycare. Her eyes got big, and she said "Why?" We told her that on Friday we're leaving for vacation, and that's just a few days from now. Then she's like this :yay: She still doesn't know where we're going, but she's excited about leaving!

I guess every night I'll be checking my lists, getting ready to go. I had a dream on Friday night that we got to our room on the ship, I started looking around, and realized I forgot my door signs. I had everything else, but almost kicked myself for not bringing them. Of all things! :rotfl2: Then when I woke up Sat. morning I looked around quickly to see if I was on board or not. Crazy, just crazy I tell ya!

Have a good day everyone. I'll be back soon.

   My computer at work blocks the photos. I have to wait till I get home to check out the yummy treats.

Thanks for sharing!!

Hello everyone. Ok the rain needs to stop soon. During Hurricane Floyd we had 21 inches of water in our Basement. Thankfully since then we renovated (tore down the 1st and 2nd floors). We installed French Drains in the basement and another sump pump.

We were out all afternoon yesterday and when we came home, DH looked down the basement and no water. He was happy.:) Then I went downstairs to do laundry.... the Slop Sink in the Basement was filled to the top.:scared1: So for the next 8 hours (until 2 AM) we were picking up everthing off the floor and emptying the sink every hour. So far the drains and pumps are keeping the water from coming through the floor, but the sink still keeps filling up. Called our friend the plumber and there is nothing he can do. The water table has to go down and then the sink should be fine.

We are scheduled to leave 5AM Wednesday morning to reach the AutoTrain by 1. Hopefully the sink is back to normal or I don't know what my dh will do.

Good thing the majority of my packing is done. I am just sitting here at work on 4 hours sleep, hoping everything is doing well at home.

Hope everyone else if fairing much better. How many days until cruising?? LOL.

 Wow to all the weather issues! :scared: Nobody needs this kind of problem just before vacation! I sure hope everyone's homes stay dry until things settle down. It sounds like a few close calls for Cheryl and Kathy, but even a small problem with water can make it seem huge! :grouphug:

I've been checking the Weather Channel website for a couple days now for Friday night in Orlando (clear skies for a hopefully good landing), Saturday in Cape Canaveral (~80ish and sunny!), and Sunday in Key West (same, I think). So far, so good!

Amanda, thanks for posting your photos! For some reason, I didn't have Emily's face memorized well enough! (Tragic, I know!) Great job on the cake, too! Oh, and we watched Ace of Cakes last night. It's funny because it started at 4:30 PM, and the boys were watching Noggin, so when Tivo was going to change it, they started freaking out! Justin came in from the garage and asked why I was recording that show. So I had to tell him that he's known around here as "Duff." His response: :rolleyes2 Later after the boys went to bed, we watched it. He says, "Now, which one am I?" :rotfl: I can see why you like the show! The cakes are awesome! And so was Emily's! :thumbsup2

And speaking of family photos, I'm wondering about those that haven't posted them yet!!!! :rolleyes1

Boy, Amanda, with all your crazy dreams, I think you need a vacation! :rotfl: I know I sure do! I think I'm starting to feel the same stress that everyone else has had. What a weekend...the boys were not well behaved at all! I'm going to feel so sorry for our cruise neighbors! For one reason or the other, they both cried almost nonstop yesterday afternoon! Do you think there's room in my suitcase for the timeout chair? Even Saturday night after our Target/mall trip (which we had to cut short because they were crabby), we tried to eat out, but they were quite a challenge. (This is why we're fearful of mealtime on the cruise!) Our fingers are crossed for nice and polite children for 9 days. :rolleyes1

So to all my fellow TV lovers, have you heard that April 23-29 is "TV-turnoff week!" What great timing! Or did you all schedule your vacation around it? :rotfl2:

Amy, I know you're probably busy with after-party stuff, packing, and all, but are we going to get our last set of questions today? :rolleyes1

I have a question for repeat cruisers. I know Amy has mentioned the great shampoo, conditioner, and lotion onboard, but what about the soap? Or is it shower gel? I'll probably bring my super-moisturizing stuff just because most things dry my skin so much, but I'd like the extra luggage space!

So if I accidentally mess up & call him Duff :rolleyes1 atleast he'll know why. I LOVE that show. I still have last week's recorded that I haven't watched yet. Maybe tonight while I'm printing out the door signs - yes, I haven't done it yet. But I will - not letting that dream come true!

Oh, and speaking of signs, for anyone celebrating a birthday, um, like Chris (Amy!!) I saw this one posted:

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=17625970&postcount=191

I can create my own signs, and yes, I have some designs all ready, but when I saw one on that same thread,I had to snag it. It's called "Girls just wanna have fun" and features princesses making crazy faces. Cracked me up!! You better believe it's going on our door.

Hmm, I'll have to think of some new questions!!!

As for soap, they just have regular bar soap, so we always bring our own shower gel. I think that someone said that the suites have the H2O shower gel, but the rest of us get regular soap. Also, for those with kids with sensitive eyes, I would bring your own kids shampoo.

One other thing that I was going to mention, if anyone is having a hard time trying to find Children's Bonine, I saw it at Publix the other day when I was doing my party shopping. So, if you can't find it, let me know and I can pick it up for you!!!

And I thought I was done packing.:rolleyes1 Thanks for the info.

And I thought I was done packing.:rolleyes1 Thanks for the info.

Wendy
Now, don't think that I pack ALL of this stuff, but I use it as my starting point and cross things off that I don't need for this trip.:thumbsup2

So, I thought I was done, but then when I went to pack my carryon I realized I had nowhere near enough stuff to entertain the kids for 5 hours. So, I went shopping at Toys R Us and spent $150!!!:scared: :scared: :scared: I'm going to split the stuff in half so I have enough for the flight home which is 6 hours.

I did snag a fan for $15 at BB&B to bring onboard. I have to have my fan to sleep with.

We are not going to post a picture, but I will probably be getting my hair dyed with purple streaks tomorrow, so you will see me. Otherwise, people say I look like Cindy Lauper. :scared1: My husband looks kinda like Sean Astin. My daughter is tiny with brown glasses and my son has tight curly blond hair and looks like a little angel (but doesn't always act like one).

We CANNOT get sick! That is my motto. I saw a little boy sneeze this morning at school and snot was just dripping down his face. Normally, I would be nice and find him a tissue, but this morning, I am sad to say, I RAN.

My house looks like a tornado hit it and I HAVE to go clean it. I don't know where I am going to fit that fan in the bags.

Jenni

Oh! Molli, that is great about the marathon! Congratulations! You do deserve your desserts!

Hello everyone!

I have written 2 posts today and then went to preview and "POOF" I was disconnected from the website and internet and they did not post:mad: . Anyone else have this problem. Won't be previewing my posts any more.

What day is the last day everyone going to post? I think I will be the last one to be on our way to FLORIDA! Flight leaves at 6:20 am on Saturday, so we will be leaving the house about 4:30 to go to the airport. Hopefully be at the port by noon!:cheer2:

-Paula pixiedust:

I don't usually preview, so I haven't been having that problem.

We're leaving the house around 10am on Friday to drive over to WDW. We'll be hanging out at MK until around 4:30pm, then over to the Beach Club for dinner at Cape May Cafe. Then, depending on the girls, we might head over to EPCOT for Illuminations then to our hotel at the Embassy Suites near the Orlando airport.

Ok, this is the last installment of Get To Know Your Fellow Cruiser before our vacation. I had a hard time coming up with new questions, but here they are.

1. What is one thing that you're packing that you just can't leave home without?

2. What is one thing that you're packing that you don't quite know why you're bringing, but it's packed anyway?

3. How many suitcases are you packing? If you haven't packed yet, what's your estimate?

4. What time do you plan on arriving at the port to check in?

5. Have you packed anything that is kinda bizarre, but you just have to bring it along?

6. What one tip that you've either used or read on the DIS that you think is the most important?

Do we sense a theme here???
