April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

Sunday is supposed to be Horrible here on the East Coast. I was all set to get my lesson plan ready for the week, and the week that we'll be away.
It's supposed to be nasty here tonight too!! As long as the sun starts shining by Friday, I don't care if it rains all week!!!

Then my sister calls me earlier and tells me:
The Doctors Will Be Inducing Her On Sunday Morning!!! :headache: (Insert Homer Simpson DOH!! Here)

I love my sister, and as I've told you before I've not been around for the birth of any of her children, but I have No Time during the week. My week is Work/Work (Mon); Work/School (Tues), Work(Wed), Work/School(Thurs), Leave on Friday. I am really stuck. Her house is Two Hours Away from here, and coupled with the horrible weather, I'm sure they'll be some roads flooded out. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :scared:
Well, at least you can keep your track record if you can't make it. :rotfl: Just teasin, but I'm sure that it would be nice to be there, if you can make it work.

This afternoon I broke out in some Hives and I was ignoring it and then while I was studying the itching became much worse. I took an oatmeal bath and I'm drinking lots of water. I'm guessing it's stress related.
MAN I NEED THIS VACATION:banana:
Isn't it amazing?!?! We're not supposed to have stress BEFORE our vacation!!!

Any Last Minute Tips Anyone????
No tips here, I haven't even thought about packing yet!!!

Amy, your mother did a stellar job on those dresses!!! Just Beautiful!!! Magnifique!!!! Si Senorita!!!!!
Thanks Corryn!! I can't wait to see them on the girls!!!

Now that is TOOOO CUTE! I LOVE IT! :thumbsup2
(What's funny is I looked at the picture before I read that it was your niece modeling it, and I was thinking, "Who is that? That doesn't look like Emily or Madison...Am I not memorizing the right kids' faces?!?!?!" :rotfl2:)
Ok, now THAT'S funny!!!

Amy, I saw your posts on the main board about the SPH rooms (I knew you'd be there giving your :thumbsup2 so I checked it out!) You mentioned no steamer trunks, and I don't think ours will have one either (no bump out, and I think I read in room reviews that it doesn't have it). Is there enough drawer space without one? The canvas hanger is a good idea, but I don't know if it would be necessary. I looked at the pictures on DCL website, and it looks like there's quite a few drawers by the desk area, but I'm unsure if it's enough for everyone's shorts and undies.

I know you're busy trying to get everything finished up for tomorrow party: so if you don't have time to respond until Monday or so, that's fine. Good luck with everything this weekend!
Hi Val - the only problem with the dresser drawers is that they aren't very deep. We've always ended up using ALL the dresser drawers, plus the steamer trunk. That's why I purchased the canvas shelf hanger. I'm sure that you can do without it, I just worry, since we've always had the steamer.

Ok, I'm all caught up and I need to get back to cleaning. I'm waiting for Chris to install the last part of the wainscoting so I can paint and we'll be done!!! I'm trying to clean around here, without his thinking that something is up!!!:rotfl2:

happy saturday all -- next week at this very time we'll be onboard!!:cool1:

can i get a whoop whoop?

jenni -- order LOTS of desserts! that way i won't be the only one! actually i know your pain, our first Wonder cruise our server wasn't the disney server i read about on the DIS. he was nice, but subtly discouraged us from ordering 'too much'. at one point i ordered a steak and baked potato for DD and he said, honestly, that it would be way too much for her. i said, well that is what she wants. it really put me off. on our last cruise on the Magic, our servers were more like what i read about here. encouraged us to try things and had NO issues ordering multiples. i kid you not by the end of the week i was ordering one of EVERY dessert so i could sample them :thumbsup2 one night for sure i had 4 and my family finished before me and were all getting up and our server said, hey wait, don't leave Molli she's not done yet! that'a girl :thumbsup2 i haven't had servers that just bring out dishes b/c they recommend them and no one ordered it, or extras or anything; but i don't think we are HUGE eaters either. dont get me wrong, i'm ready to indulge!!!!

maybe i'm feeling deserving after my feet took me 13.1 miles today!! that's right, the weather held out and i got my medal to prove it :woohoo: my best pace yet -- 14:00 flat. not too shabby for a walker

amy -- the dress is ADORABLE!! good luck finishing the room today!! when is the party, i thought it was today? must not be if you time to post 6 times in a row :rotfl:

i thought i would pack today but its 3 p.m. already!! monday ---

thanks for the list of movies too :flower3:

glad the wallet was recovered

much PD sent to Vallen for finishing his paper

snow days in April!

i'm having trouble keeping up...............................

amy -- the dress is ADORABLE!! good luck finishing the room today!! when is the party, i thought it was today? must not be if you time to post 6 times in a row :rotfl:
Thanks!! The party is actually tomorrow afternoon, Chris should be here around 5pm. So, I still have lots to do, but we're coming along. And, his brother is going to come help me around noon tomorrow.

Oh Amy I just LOVE that pirate dress. Emily was sitting here, and she started pouting, saying "I don't have one, I want one" :lmao: I just love it! What a great seamstress your mom is.

Well, I'm just crazy I guess. I finally finished up Emily's cake last night around 9pm. Then I cleaned up, and headed to bed. This morning we did a mad cleaning spree, then the excitement of the party, and I didn't get one shot of just the cake. I did get one of Emily from the side, blowing out candles, but that was it. :sad2: I think someone else may have taken a photo or two, so I might get a copy soon.

Now, tomorrow through Thursday, every night we'll be focused on packing & making sure everything is ready to go. CAN'T WAIT!!! :yay:

Well, it's 12:40am and I'm still up, but the dining room is finished (well, as much as it's going to get done before the party).

Dining room before: we didn't take an actual before picture, but this one shows the horrible blue that was in here, the primed wall and the new color all at once.

Diningroombefore.jpg

Dining room after: I don't have everything back in the room, but you can get the picture. The bottom color is actually a cream color. We've decided that the chair rail color is kinda dingy now with the new wall colors, so when we install the baseboards, we're going to repaint the chair rail too. It's going to be one shade darker than the top of the walls.

Diningroomafter.jpg

So, I'm off to go put stuff back (Chris is asleep), and do a little more clean up around here. Then, I'm heading to bed for a busy, busy day tomorrow with the party!!!

Oh, and even though the DIS time is off, it's after midnight SO...

Countdown to cruising!!!
6 days to go!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Ok, now it's 1:45am and I'm still working away!

So, here's what I've found for today...on our last cruise, we went on the DVC member cruise and a couple of us came up with a gift for the kids in our DIS group. We had 11x14" picture mats made with a 5x7 opening and each child's name and we gave it to them, so that they could get it signed at Guest Services. Well, I came across 3 blank picture mats. They are open to the first 3 people that PM me for them. :dance3: The only caveat is that you'll need to find me for them, because I won't carry them around the whole cruise.;) I spent precious hours on our last cruise trying to find the right people to give them to. :guilty: But, they are up for the taking!!!:woohoo:

Amy, that is a GREAT idea for the character signatures.
We have done autograph books and had the autographs done on everyother page so I could put the photo next to the signature BEFORE Disney thought of it. Did this for several years.

Then we have done a pillow case with heavy cardboard inside and the ring thingy......for embroidery users.... and brought along 4-5 different colored sharpies. The characters and the cast members LOVE this idea.

I love this idea of the large mat and the picture cut out for a special picture so it can be hung up. I like the idea that you can take to guest services and they will get all the characters to sign it. DD is 13, but still loves the signatures (or I really enjoy both the PICTURE and the signatures!):rotfl:

Need to work on the door signs which are finished except the magnets on the back to stick to the door.

Packing is all done,:laundy: would put them in the car, but suppose to be freezing and I don't want certain things to freeze - shampoo, ect.

Who won't be on the board this final week of countdown due to leaving early to see WDW? You will be missed and I will be jealous that you get out of work/school sooner than I can!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

That's what I have already! :thumbsup2 This is the idea I "stole" from the main board:

Amy, I hope you have everything set to go for today! We'll be anxious to hear all about it tomorrow! And see pictures! (Ahem, Amanda. ;))

We went out of town to go to Target yesterday. We lucked out at Target on black shoes for the boys but did get a canvas closet organizer. We just happened to go to the mall to check for shoes there, and low and behold, they had sidewalk sales! In April! I thought they were only January and July. Anyway, we finally did get some shoes for the boys, but we're not as crazy about them as their Buster Browns. Of course they didn't have Lennon's exact size (he needed a 9 but they only had 9 1/2), so if everyone sees him tripping over himself every night at dinner, that's why. :rolleyes2

Amanda, I searched Tivo and found Ace of Cakes is on this afternoon, so I have it set to record. I still haven't told Justin about you calling him Duff, though. I have Thursday's episode set to record, too, but I don't know if I'll have time to watch it that night. Maybe if I can get all my packing done before then, I will.

We watched POTC last night. :thumbsup2 I told Justin that I would like to see POTC2 onboard if we get the chance, but I wanted to watch the first one before leaving. So we finally did! I was surprised by it! Not only was it good, it was funny, too! I was kind of freaked out by the pirates on the Black Pearl, though. Lennon woke up once while it was on during one of those scenes, and was scared, even though we stopped it as soon as he came out of the hallway. I thought it would have been a bit more kid friendly, though, since it is a Disney movie. We'll definitely have to send the kids to the club if we want to see #2 onboard.

I'm off to pack more, pay bills, :laundy:, etc. I probably won't be back until tomorrow. Have a great day! :)

Amy, the dining room looks beautiful. I hope the party goes beautifully.

Last night I got up to use the bathroom and I tripped over the suitcases and fell flat on my face. Ow! Thankfully, I just skinned my finger and smashed my toe a bit.

Does anyone know if we will get to see the newly enhanced Disney Dreams? I just read about this and got excited, but it says it won't start until just before the Med cruises. Well, we are kind of just before them.

:goodvibes
Hi everyone How are You All Doing? Is it the Quiet before the "Storm"?
We've got that Nor'easter goin' through right now. It's been raining and pouring.....

I called DCL to take the girls off the Eco Tour Excursion since me and Ed will be doing it while they're at the Wild Side Excursion.....Anyone else doin' Da Wild Side?

I'm trying to make Door Signs....Now that Tori is home she can show me how to work the power point:laughing:

We went through our suitcases yesterday, got out our birth certificates and put them in my Dis Binder, matched shoes to dresses, went to Wal-Mart & Target and got what rest we needed and now everything is just waiting to be "packed" tick-tick-tick-tick:upsidedow

Ed made dinner tonight - Gnocci with bolognese sauce and pork and beef bracciole with some fresh mozzerella and olives on the side! Deeliciouso!
So gotta go, dinners ready!
It was soo good...you know when you're working and you're just sooo hungry and someone else makes dinner?

We've just downloaded about thirty new fonts and our door signs will be finished tonight!

Amy, I hope you're going to post and tell us all about the party!
Molli, you have to tell us more about your marathon!

Good Luck to all of you prone to flooding here on the East Coast -

Anyone have any good stories from this weekend?
Anything?

Hi Everyone!!! :wave2:

Wow, lots been happening since I was here last!!

Jenni--So glad DH got wallet back. I can imagine how stressed you were! Hope your toe and finger survived! I also just read about the newly enhanced Disney Dreams and I hope they try it out on us too. We deserve it!! :rotfl: It sounds neat. If we don't get to see it that just makes it necessary to rebook. I also read about the new sail away party. Wonder if we'll be part of that too? :confused3

Amy--Wonderful dresses. Great idea. Your Mom is soooo talented. How great to have that gift. Dining room looks very nice. Very professional job, could you come and do mine? :rotfl2: It looks like we have the same dining room chairs too. Hope your suprise party :cake: was a big success. Can't wait to see photos. Happy Birthday Chris!!!

Val--Great idea on the photo mat. Never would of thought of it. Last cruise we were on we had bought a book while we were in WDW. We had some of the characters sign it. That was neat. Know what you mean about POTC. Not a real good younger kids movie. Some parts freaked me out too. Wait till you see POTC II. Capt. Jack is worth it though.

Molli--Congrats on the Medal!! :cool2: You do deserve that extra treat!

Amanda--Hope your party was a success! :cheer2: Can't wait to see pictures of the cake!!

Paula--Congrats on finishing packing!!! :woohoo: We have our cruise portion of our trip packed, still have to finish up the WDW part. We leave on Thursday so I'll still be stalking till Wednesday. Hope work goes fast for you the rest of the week!

Wendy--I know what you mean about not being able to sleep. Wed night I'll probably be on the DIS boards to pass the time away till we leave. DH can sleep well the night before we leave for a vacation. :sad2: Not me! I toss and turn and think about everything imaginable.

Corryn--I hope your hives are better! Nor'easter happening here too. DH is a plumber and he's on call this weekend so he's out fixing everyone's sump pumps. His beeper going off is driving me nuts!! :offtopic: Get this, he had a call today from someone that wanted him to come and fix the water leaking out of their foundation into their basement. :sad2: Guess they see water and think plumber? :rotfl: Dinner sounds wonderful, I'll take the leftovers!!

Today I had to go shopping to buy a baby shower and wedding shower gift for the parties I'll miss when we are away. The malls were pretty empty because of all the rain. It was a mess. When I was out, I stopped at the Disney Store. I bought a small stuffed Mickey. I put DH's new wedding band on Mickey's arm and wrapped it up. At the Hallmark store I found this great Mickey bag, when you open it up it says in Mickey's voice "Hiya pal! Hope you have a great time and enjoy this gift." It is perfect. DH decided that he wants to exchange gifts on our actual anniversary which is the 19th. I really didn't think he would be getting me anything because we did just update my wedding band set. Anyway, we'll be driving to FL this day so he suggested pulling over around 2pm (that's the time our wedding took place) and exchanging then. So much for me suprising him on the ship. I was thinking about getting an alternate gift but we have already spent too much money and I couldn't think of a gift which would be meaningful and not give away anything. I'm excited to give him his gift!!

Hope everyone is well and enjoying a nice quiet Sunday! Sorry this is so long!!

Cyndi

Cyndi, that all sounds like it just fell into place. Isn't funny how you just "find" things one right after the other? Like Kismet:cloud9:
The last story you told sound pretty funny. I'm sure Eric must have thought it was a joke at first, but some people just have no clue:laughing:

I have another story to tell. I love telling stories if you haven't figured that out yet.....
Anyway we shopped in WalMart, but Tori wanted this big bag for the vacation and she had the cash, so we drove over to Target. On the way, she is just going on and on about this beautiful bag with tulips, oh, I just love it, oh, I hope they still have it, yadda yadda yadda.

So we get there and lo and behold there is  "The Bag"
Tori is just gushing over it! We start walking around the jewelry section and I'm browsing and trying to see if there's anything that will match my stuff for the cruise.
Tori is going, Isn't it just beautifull? Isn't it gorgeous? Just Look at it! (You get the picture)
I'm not responding, so she says, Mom, isn't this bag beautiful?
(wha? Mom? Who's that? Oh, that's me!)
But I'm busy concentrating on earrings, and I say,
Eew Tori, that's the ugliest friggen bag I think I've ever seen....
Ed chimes in leaning over the shopping cart handle...
Yeah, Tori, if you carry that bag around you in Key West, I'm just going to have to act like I don't know you...
Cramping My Style.....It looks like Vomit Green.....
She starts to get defensive, how can you say that, thanks a lot, etc.
so I say, Hey, Tor, do I let what anyone says stop me from doing anything? Do I?
(no answer)
So then just get the bag!
But you don't like it!
No, I think it's disgusting (Ed adds a bunch of comments in between) but I'm not walking around with it, just get it..

All of a sudden, this Head pops up from above the earring rack and says,
That is The Most Beautiful Bag I Have Ever Seen and If There Were Another One Left, Then I Would Buy It!!

Two young girls in their early 20's were listening to everything we were saying:rotfl2:
And they must've been thinking, How could these parents gang up and Torture their teenage daughter!?!?!? We've Got To Save Her!!!!!

So we were all shocked, because she popped outta nowhere, and I says,
Hey Tor,There Ya Go! There's another opinion! Just get the bag!
Then me and Ed busted out laughing and the two young girls took off...

Did I mention we love our daughters?:rotfl:

I'm watching the news now and all they're showing is the horrible flooding around here.
I know Cheryl (ctc917), Cyndibear, Bill & Margaret, Paula & Kip, Koby (Tricia), LuAnne(LHagerty), Emily (surprise07), SnowyW, and VCruiser are all East Coasters and I've been praying that my DisFriends are warm & dry!:grouphug:
We don't need no drama before the cruise!:scared1:

I hope all of you, on the East Coast, are doing O.K. -- the storm looks bad. Stay warm and dry and think that by the end of the week, you will be in warm 80 degree weather. We have one more day until we leave and I think that I might be down to six suitcases. Whew -- who would have thought that I would be excited about six. I'm just glad that all of my kids are big enough to carry their own suitcase. I remember one trip when they were young, when we had suitcases, strollers, and car seats -- I'm sure that most of you can identify with that one.

I keep catching the kids trying to add and take out things from their suitcases. They think that I don't notice....:rotfl:

Corryn - That dinner sounds wonderful -- much better than the Costco lasagna we had earlier.

Hopefully, most of you will be in bed as I am typing this, so when you reading this it is probably Monday -- 5 days until the cruise!!!!!!!

Wendy

Good morning fellow cruisers!! The party was a success!! Chris and Madison were surprised and we all had a good time. I have to clean up the party remnants today, and then I get to start PACKING!!!:dance3:

I hope that everyone is going well in the NE!! We had a nasty storm yesterday that ripped through here with lots of rain, high winds and some tornados. Thankfully, it was quick moving, so the bad stuff only lasted about 30 minutes. But, unfortunately, it has left central FL in a cold front. No 80 degrees here right now. It's actually 57 degrees this morning. :scared1: But, it's supposed to warm up by the end of the week.

Hello everyone,

I'm running around like a crazy person trying to do my packing, we leave NH tomorrow, so last night the electricty goes off so I'm done for the night and today it is raining like crazy and water is coming into my garage which is freaking me out, I keep running out there to check on some things we have stored out there because of course I have just too much "stuff". I wish this weather would just go away...

So now I'm off to get ready so I can drive my little guy to pre-school so I can hopefully finish my packing and hopefully during this whole day I don't loose my electricity again...
