April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

Kyralyn won points on VMK and she printed out the certificate. The only hitch, she has to present it at Disney at VMK Central on Main Street.

Is there anyone out there who is cruising with us who will be visiting Disney that would take ten minutes (if that) out of their time to stop by and pick up Kyra's points? I just have to mail the certificate to you and then you present it and pick up a little card.
She would appreciate it. Thank you:goodvibes
We'll be heading to MK all day on Friday, so we can pick it up for you. PM me and I'll send you my address. I would love to help out a fellow DISer!!!

It was 80 yesterday & today, and now the wind is howling & the temp has dropped to the 50's. High for this weekend is in the 40's. Brrrrrrr.
Well, down here in FL, we're getting a "cold front" too, but not nearly as intense as you guys up north. We've been in the low 80s for the past week or so, but it shows that we'll only be in the upper 60s to 70 for Easter. While that isn't cold, it's a definite difference from the 80s.

Oh, Thank You Amy! I'll PM you now:goodvibes
80's, huh? Man, are you lucky! I know every single year as my Magnolia starts to bloom, we ALWAYS get some sort of cold precipitation that destroys the blossoms......It really stinks. I noticed yesterday the blossoms were just starting to emerge.

Taylor is going on a choir tour to Disneyland.

Wendy,
How is Taylor doing so far? Does he have a cell phone? I'm sure the phone calls are one way - you calling him!
Our calls: (me) Hi Tor! What's going on? (Tori)--Mom, I'm (insert someplace here) I'll call you later - Bye!(click)
I just laughed a nervous laugh. As long as I heard Tori breathing on the other end, I was fine.
I guess these little moments when we let go just a little bit are good for both sides.....good in a bittersweet way. These kids don't know how good they've got it! My grandfather used to say the same thing while I was growing up..
I hope his trip is great and he arrives home safe and sound:hug: !

Thanks for asking Corryn....he doesn't have a cell phone with him, but I bought him a calling card. The only problem is that he can call me, but I can't call him -- if he does, I am sure that my conversation will be like yours with Tori. I am a little sad -- today is his 16th birthday and I wish he was here celebrating with us.:sad2: I'm sure that he isn't even thinking about us. He is scheduled to be on Newport Beach right now, watching the sun set. When I am being rational, I can realize that this is a great time for him.....gives him a little bit of freedom and gets me used to the fact that he is growing up. Josh told me that Tori posted some pictures on the kids site from her trip -- sounds like it was a great time!!!

I was thinking that 3 weeks from today, it will be pirate: night. Is everyone getting dressed up? We have eye patches, bandanas, but no "pirate" clothes. I was thinking about getting some t-shirts that maybe I could even get my kids to wear. Does anyone have any good ideas for costumes?

Molli and Amanda -- any pictures yet or did I miss some?

Wendy

We'll be dressing up for Pirate Night!! We have pretty generic costumes, but hey, they work. I had a costume that Chris used to have for the Grim Reaper and had my mom cut it down to make a plain black skirt. Then, she made the girls plain black skirts too. And, she made Chris a quick pair of black pants that we cut jagged on the bottom. Then, I just took plain white t-shirts and cut the bottoms and sleeves jagged and emphasized them with gold glitter glue. And, we have red sashes (mine and the girls have gold beads on them too). We add the bandanas from dinner and some pirate tattoos and some beads and call it done. I'll see if I can find a picture somewhere!

Ah, watching the sun set at the beach in CA on your 16th birthday...Did I mention these kids have it Soooo Good?!?!!?
Of course, he's thinking of you Mom, even if just for a minute! He's running down all the things he has done over his past birthdays.....
The night before Tori left, I started to cry and I said, oh, my Tori Bird is leaving the nest for the first time without her mommy, and I gave her a hug while she was lying in bed before sleep and she started to cry with me and said, I'm leaving my mom for the first time......So while she was acting all tough weeks and days before her trip, she eventually "broke down" with me, just for ten seconds; I would have never thought that.
So that's how I know your son is thinking of you. That's what all kids do! They love their parents even though we don't think so:love:

I checked out the kids thread:rotfl: so funny!!!!
These kids are gonna have a blast together !
BTW, on our last cruise, the girls liked to play Elevator Tag.....I know some DIS'ers don't like that, but the 13 year old in me says Yeah!
Pirate Outfits:
Ed got a nice Tommy Bahama shirt with a Pirate theme, the girls got Pirate shirts that they'll be wearing with stretchy pants and I'm looking on Ebay for a nice rhinestone skull T-shirt or something. If I can't find anything, I'll be wearing the costume you see me in on my avatar. I hope I find a t-shirt, I've worn that costume now four times!

:welcome: Sarah!! also include which dining time you are (main/late) and FYI not to keep bombarding you with info but most of us late diners have linked our reservations to be sat as a group in the restaruants. once you get the spreadsheet from me, you'll see who has linked, we have requested APL.
QUOTE]

OhMom-did you happen to get my info, I pm'd you the info when you were away last week I believe and I haven't received a copy of the list so I was thinking maybe I sent my information incorrectly to you?

Cheryl

One more question: How come my quote looks different then everyone elses? Any help on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cheryl,
Are you pressing the quote button on the bottom right hand corner?
I noticed on your "quote" the bracket and backslash are missing it should look like this : [ / QUOTE ] except without all the spaces in between the letters and characters.
If you're going to quote someone, make sure the beginning and ending tags are intact.
I'm going to bed - Good Night all!

CRYING HERE :sad1: SNOWING - thought it was only 2-4 inches. More like 10-12 inches.
Kids don't have school which I know are happy about.
Grades close on Friday. Last quarter starts on Monday.
We get out inteh middle to the end of June!

16 days to go for the CRUISIN' PART of Vacation:hourglass

Sad that I can't add on to the beginning or the end of the cruise a trip to WDW. Guess I'll have to plan on a full trip in November over Thanksgiving!:rolleyes1 All depends on the flight prices.

Koby, when are you leaving for the cruise?

Question on the group dining - will we be at tables that seat 4-6 a piece, or do they have larger tables that can accomdate more in a party? I looked at the pictures that I could find of the dining rooms, and there did not seem to be long tables for large groups.

pirate: Pirate outfits, DH and I plan on dressing up and looking the part. DD has an outfit, don't know if she will wear - depends on if other teens will dress up. Is Captain Jack Sparrow available for a pic on that night before dinner seating?pirate:

Another question - how does the cruise expect you to PLAY BINGO and get to dinner on time?
I looked at some of the navigators (end of February) and the game ends 15 minutes after dinner starts on a few of the days.

Looked at the navigators to get an idea what I was going to do....:woohoo:

Corryn - I love peeps! In chocolate - sounds yummy, I could eat only one though, but it would be good. I can eat 4 peeps and then I have to stop - a wee bit too much sugar at one time.:rotfl2:

Sorry:guilty: back to reality - driveway is cleared and now have to go to work while DD gets to sleep

Oh the wait of it all.....:cheer2:

morning!! just a quick note right now -- pictures to come maybe later today or Saturday. sorry, where has the week gone??? that's ok, we are sooo close to cruisin' :teeth:

corryn -- the gal that is doing my eyeliner told me most applications require a touch-up. I choose brown and she said brown even more so. my choices were black, blue, brown, green or purple! all but purple are a smoky color. I'm having her thicken the top lid line by choice, so it's done the thinnest at first so you have it thicker if you choose. my lower lids look uneven to me, especially when i look back at the picture i took just after it was done. touch-ups were included in the price

cheryl -- i just emailed you the spreadsheet again, sorry i thought i had! i'll make sure i added your email to my group

wendy -- my heart went out to you when you said it was Taylor's b-day but how very cool to spend it on the beach for him!

i gotta go i just gotta say -- Gina should not have been voted off!

The dining room is made up of tables of 4, 6 & 8. They will put tables together to make some larger tables. The key is that each serving team is supposed to have one of those sets of tables (a 4, 6 & 8), so they try to move it around to make it even. When we sailed in October, we had a group of almost 100 DISers, and they made us stick to the 4, 6 & 8 table set. But, I think that they do their best to put people together how they want.

Ugg!!! I was feeling all down from all the rain we've had down here, but now I feel worse for you! That's why I told my husband, I'm not movin' anywhere north of here, ever!
I feel your pain, Paula...When I was young, my grampa was retired, so I'd have to get off to school while he sat all cozy at Command Central (his recliner). Now that I'm older, it's my girls, just like yours, who get to reap the rewards of a snow day. Catholic schools didn't have snow days!! When can adults get a snow day!?!?!?!

I don't know about Jack Sparrow, they didn't have him the last time we cruised. I can tell you that my girls are not dressing up in a costume. They both have Skull Shirts and they'll be wearing them with stretchy pants (Kyra - short sweat pants) I am dressing up 'cuz I can't find a nice skull shirt I like and I think Ed will wind up doing so also.
Another question - how does the cruise expect you to PLAY BINGO and get to dinner on time?

Paula, That was the day I went to the Rainforest Spa Early, then I just went to Bingo in my dinner outfit....If you want photos with the characters, you might have to go before the early seating.

I don't know about you guys, but I think I really need this vacation. I'm working days and schoolin' nights and I get my butt out and walk four and a half miles a day on most days...I'm exhausted and I just want to do fun stuff and eat shrimp! And I'm tired of looking at all these new clothes and not getting to wear them!
Oh, Well, Like Paula, I've gotta change and get to work. Tonight I'm subbing. I'll be home by two, walk, DIS, make dinner, out by 5:30 to teach and then home by 10:30.....

Have a nice day everyone, no matter what you do.....CAUSE WE ONLY HAVE 14 DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!!!

Koby, when are you leaving for the cruise?
We are flying on down on Wednesday evening. I paid 521.00 RT for the four of us on SW. I thought that was a great deal for this time of year. My kids have today off (Holy Thursday). If not, today would have been a snow day too. The plows have already gone by several times this morning. We are flying home on Saturday evening. I am going to the mall today to finish up what I need to buy.

Val, I thought you would appreciate this. I just had our cable reinstalled after two years. (When I had it taken out I was trying to prove a point to hubby and kids.) We had the motherload of channels and a DVR reinstalled. I'm in heaven. :rotfl: I was (and still am) the worse addict but they don't need to know that. :rotfl2:

:lmao: I think DVR is the BEST thing. We've only had ours about 6 months now, through Directv. During the day I set it to tape stuff for Emily, and at night usually I'm taping from one channel while watching the other. DH & I have looked at each other many, many times and said "How'd we survive without this?" :rotfl: We're big time TV addicts at home too.

It's cold outside. Hard to imagine it snowing anywhere at this time of year - but it does happen. It was 80 yesterday, and when we left this morning it was 38. Now it's warmed up to 42. Supposed to be this way until Mon. or Tues. then highs around 60. Good grief. Emily is mad because it's supposed to rain & be cold this weekend and now we'll have to hide eggs indoors. :) Reallly though, she just wants the candy inside, so I think she'll forget about the weather once she gets the chocolate. She's so much like me, it's scary. :rotfl:

Oh, we're definitely TV addicts around here. I'm really trying this week and actually up until vacation, to stay away from the TV as much as possible. My 2 addictions are the TV and the computer. I could waste HOURS in front of either of them, and then complain about how much I still have to do!!!:lmao:

:faint: You don't want to know what we paid! Not much less than that per person! For the four of us was almost triple that! Good for you! :thumbsup2

WHAT KIND OF A POINT WERE YOU TRYING TO PROVE?!?!?!?!? :lmao: (JK!) I would never deprive myself of the wonderful, warm glow of TV/satellite/DVR! Now, seriously, isn't Tivo the best invention EVER!

:rotfl2: Okay Amanda and Amy...here we go with the similarities again! :woohoo: LOVE DVR, multiple shows to watch/record at the same time, wasting time in front of TV & computer. That's me in a nutshell! (Does that mean I'm a nut if I'm in a nutshell?)

C'mon Mother Nature! Don't you know its APRIL and not JANUARY! Seriously, a high of 31 today?!?! This is not a funny joke. I'm just glad we're not getting the Northeast's snow! It's supposed to come today, so you guys will probably be getting more in a day or so. It sounded like Wendy's snow a couple days ago turned into rain for me and then turned back into snow. Not fun for Easter egg hunts this weekend. I'll be :cold: freezing my butt off...but as long as the boys get candy & toys, that's all they'll care about (one of DH's employees puts on a HUGE hunt on Saturday for anyone that knows about it). After the hunt, my mom will get to put up with the sugar high  since DH's company is sponsoring a day at the horse races for all the empolyees and their spouses. Go, Baby, Go! :cheer2: (OT, but for any horse race fans, Fonner Park is here in Grand Island, and my MIL works there. During the race season, she's in charge of group tickets and blanket races.)

So I've called the passport center to inquire about the applications. Yesterday, I sat through a very long message that eventually ended when it said all operators were busy assisting other callers, and it just HUNG UP! This morning when I called, I pressed the numbers so I didn't have to listen to the whole message again. I was excited when it started ringing! After about ten minutes of ringing, someone finally answered :woohoo: but told me their computers were down. "Call back in 45 minutes." I've got another 17 minutes to wait. (I might try early, though.) Here I thought I had hit the jackpot by just getting the phone to ring instead of hanging up. :sad2:

I don't think we'll be doing any pirate costumes (other than what they provide--bandana, right?) I'm not going to have enough time to get everything done before leaving anyway, so I'm know I don't have time to do costumes, too. I'm planning an extended trip to Wal-Mart today or tomorrow (I think of you, Amy, and your tag! Yes, I've been putting it off because I don't want to go!), so I'll probably look and see if I can find anything simple there. We have some pirate tattoos from potty training last summer, so I'll probably bring those along and maybe eye patches, but nothing too extravagant.

I became obsessed with getting a good deal on the flights. I was stalking the SW site and message boards to see when they would be releasing the new dates. The day they released the dates I kept refreshing my screen every minute. A student walked into my office (yup, I work in the office at an elementary school :scared1:) the moment the flights were released. I basically said, "honey, I can't deal with you right now you'll have to wait." That's how I got such a good rate. :rolleyes1 I went upstairs to tell my friend the rates had been released and in that 5 minutes the rates had already started to go up. My hobby is definitely planning vacations and getting good deals!
