Easter is April 1st in 2018. Airfares are only out thru April 6th for Southwest. If we plan on traveling the 3rd or 4th week of April, what kinds of deals have you experts seen in the past, the weeks following Easter?

Where are you flying to/from? The later weeks of April are school vacation weeks in New England so our airfare will be quite expensive still...

Not sure where you are coming from but we usually travel the third week of April (if it doesn't involve Easter) due to Massachusetts school vacation. Great time to go! Last time we went, I found out when Southwest was booking for those dates, hopped onto the website and got great "normal" airfare. Checked again later in the day - our flights were now absolutely outrageous!! So depending where you are coming from in regards to school spring breaks, I would keep watching Southwest and be ready to pounce!

We have our AAA rep ready to pounce on airfare! We are very flexible in April and plan on going any day of the week that airfare is cheap. We leave from Buffalo at the crack of dawn normally with a direct flight. We are in limbo right now but can't wait for the day we book the flight!

Man, I had the hardest time finding airfare out of San Antonio the 2nd weekend in March, our spring break. We usually use Southwest. We've been for spring break in the past. We usually pay around $300 round trip. We paid around $600 this year. I watched the fairs and was able to get $44 each in credit back. Now we have a year to plan another trip so we can use that $44 each. It wasn't just airfare to Orlando either. We basically couldn't fly out of the state of Texas for under $600 that week. Ouch.

We are in SA too. We are taking a trip in 2018. I really want to fly but there are six of us, so it's almost 2,000 round trip. I hate to drive because of the time wasted.

We always travel to WDW either the 3rd or 4th week of April from Logan in Boston. Last year our roundtrip airfare on JetBlue was about $350.00 for a nonstop. It was the most we have ever paid. We bought right when fares were released and they only went up from there. We travelled on the 23rd of April, a Sunday which is usually a higher fare than weekdays. We are going on April 29th, 2018 and already bought our airfare....$164.00 on JetBlue nonstop, with one checked bag. Waiting to buy our return flight with the release of fares.

When we have a longer break, we drive and make New Orleans our stop. Love eating in that city. It's much cheaper and we enjoy it, but we just didn't have the time to drive this trip.

We were thinking about stopping in New Orleans. We will see how it pans out. We are renting a van and hoping to drive straight through with three driver's taking shifts. Is that realistic or are we kidding ourselves. Thanks for the advice in advance.

That is really an individual question. I have friends who have done it. My sister and brother-in-law like to leave in the evening and drive all night while the kids sleep for every trip they've ever taken. My husband and I cannot do it. Our first trip, we left at 3:45am hoping we could drive early morning and get there around midnight. We couldn't even make it to Seguin before someone had to pee. We hit Pensacola around dinner time, ate, and drove another hour before we were both tapped out. We found a Best Western in Mariana, Florida. I know people do it, but for us, it's a no go. I think having 3 drivers would make it easier.

By the way, if you leave early enough on a weekday, you can catch the brewery tour in Shiner at 10am (if you are in to that) and be in New Orleans by dinner.

That's awesome. I like Shiner.
