My DH and I are planning a trip to DL in April. This will be our first trip to DL and we are both very excited. We have made serveral trips to DW and decided that we needed to go to DL, since its only about 5 hours from were we live. We are both looking forward to our trip. I am not sure if April is a good time to go or not. We are very flexable with the dates so I was wondering what the weather and crowds are like in April?

Hi Hi... We are looking at those dates too.. after christmas i am going to look at the attached posts at the top of this board... some have info about busiest times of the year... seasonal weather..ect.

You may want to try there! That's were i am going to look.

Merry christmas:santa:

Weather is pretty much fine throughout the entire month. Crowd levels, however, are quite different from one week to the next. Early April brings huge crowds because of Spring Breaks (sometimes more busy than summer), while later in the month, the crowds are typical off-season crowds. Better to go later than early if you are very anti-crowd.

HOWEVER, if you don't mind a crowded park, there are many advantages of going during early April:
-Longer park hours
-Not as many rides down for refurbishment
-Full entertainments schedule (fireworks + fantasmic nightly)

And going during a busy time is totally doable if you read all of the important threads on here.

Weather is good, crowds are iffy, sometimes they are bigger because of spring breaks. You should just watch here and see what pops up, we get a lot of people who come and talk about their trips before they take them. :)

Please whatever your choice of time frame, based upon my experience from last year, plan for a time other than the week of Easter. Matter of fact, as a rule of thumb, avoid the week of Easter, and the week after Easter.
The crowd level had gotten on my last nerve. Long lines, and one especially rude person! The weather for me was hot! I hate hot weather. It is like death for me.
If a person is interested in going during the before mentioned time frame a few suggestions: FAST PASSES! ARRIVE BEFORE THE PARK OPENS, OR AS CLOSE TO THAT TIME AS POSSIBLE (I did not do that, that so did not help!) and MM! if MM interests you. Arriving before opening can so very much make the difference between horribly crowded, and ah this is nice. When you collect fast passes, you can collect them throughout the day. The time stamp that is on them, one can use them past that window. So if your fast pass has 10:50 a.m. on it, you can use it at 10:50 p.m. if you would like to, or until the park closes otherwise. Many people enjoy collecting fast passes throughout the day (Including myself) then if and when the crowd level begins to pickup during the afternoon, leave during the afternoon, then come back later in the day, with fast passes in tow. I love fast passes.
Last year, I did not pay attention (Ugh) to the simple fact, that I would be going during the week of Easter. See, what with spring break, that brings in enough people as it is. But with Easter vacation on top of it! Oh my goodness! (Blah) If one does not mind large crowds, then no big deal. However, still collect those fast passes though, and arrive before opening to Dl.
Some people like to go to DCA, when it becomes busy at Dl. then later go back to Dl. Either when DCA closes, or before hand. I say before hand is a good idea, because where are so many DCA people going when it closes? To Dl. that is where. Some people will leave the park. (Good! more room for the rest of us, sigh)

We are going the last weekend in april and it will be our first april visit. We dont mind shorter hours since we'll have a large group and four of them will all be under the age of 3 so bedtime is something that we'd leave early for anyhow...however if it is just the two of you, you might like to stay out later. Fireworks and fantasmic are nightly during the earlier part of april due to spring breaks and then easter. Like gisele said easter week and the days following can be crazy! Some do not do well in crowds so do consider that, however dont let people scare you out of a good time...it can be done! And since you have been to WDW many times you are probably used to crowds and now about FP's...getting up early and being there when park opens is another helpful thing. I hope whenever you choose to go you enjoy your time at walt's original park :)

Four ankle biters under the age of 3. OMG! :faint: he he! ;) Seriously for me, I would faint. But then I only have cats, they are enough for me to deal with.
No babies in my future, because I am getting too old for having a baby. Oh well! Some people are fortunate enough to find the right person when they are younger. Then there are people like me. Old maid is my name. Funny, men that are not married, are called bachelors, but for women, especially if you are older, OLD MAID! Omg! :faint: I love that fainty emoticon. he he!
There are just so many men that are in my age range, but they think that they are only interested in women that are half of their age. Hey,if they want children, then they may have something, otherwise, give me a break, fella!

The first week in April is Spring break for some schools. California is usually around Easter. We are in SW Washington and ours runs through April 5th.:cheer2:

Thank you all for the responses. I think we might move it to a different month. We dont mind crowds but do not like huge crowds. I did not even realize that spring break is in April for many. That tells you how long it has been since I have been in school :goodvibes I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season :grouphug: and thanks agian for all of your input!
