April 20 - First "Possible" Day of SOs For SDMT!

I was just thinking I bet it begins on 4/20. With A/E moving on that day, and with it being Easter Sunday they are surely to have a mass glob of humanity in that area. Just like with the opening of BOG ADRs and all the limited edition stuff they sell, Disney seems to value a good feeding frenzy over an optimal fan experience.

Wow!I had forgotten about that being "A&E Moving Day"!

IF,and that's a BIG IF,they do start Soft Openings Sunday,that will be QUITE a scene in that area!

When they "close" and pull the Planters across the entrance to SDMT,they may not allow Guests to "congregate" there until they open again-it will be interesting for sure!

Of course,I remember "Old Fantasyland"-now that thing would get SERIOUSLY clogged!!!!lol

Ah yes, the shrubs of mystery. Assessments are still scheduled for tomorrow. If everyone passes, they may start tomorrow night. If not tomorrow, probably on Monday or Tuesday. I'm betting on Monday or Tuesday to allow all the Mine Train Cast Members to learn how to safely work together.

I would think that holding a soft opening on a very busy day could cause real chaos, especially for a ride that is in such a prominent location. This is a lot different than TSMM and Soarin where the ride buildings are more out of the way and the ride itself is not visible from outside. We happened to be in the park when they were doing trials of Soarin, and they let people in from the back so that it wasn't obvious what was going on. Something like that isn't possible for the mine train. If they're going to try it this week, it would almost have to be in the last hour or two that the park is open.

Once people see that there are guests riding, the word will spread like wildfire and people will be knocking each other out of the way to get there.

To me, it would make more sense to have some kind of a special invitation only event (for guests like annual passholders) late at night to first try out the ride.

But, what do I know?

Then,when the attraction is ready for more Soft Opening riders.the "Planters" will be rolled back away from the entrance.

The "Planters" being brought onstage are a significant "sign" that SOs are about to start.

I'm heading there tomorrow with out of town guests who are leaving Monday. What seems to be the most likely scenario of a soft opening if they start it tomorrow? We can't decide how to order our park hopping.

ETA: Apparently 7DMT CMs are getting their transfers pushed back. Not sure if this would affect SOs but I would say this would definitely affect the official opening day.
