April 20 - First "Possible" Day of SOs For SDMT!

Thanks for the link, WED, and thanks to the The Hub for the information.

WEDWDW, thank you for starting a new thread about this. Below, you will find a copy of the post from the link in the original post.

This.:thumbsup2

wdwnewstoday, who are very reliable, are reporting Some CMs have already been allowed to ride SDMT during their training.:)

Another SDMT CM reported their training begins April 13.

It looks like training is in "waves".

With an April 30 Media Event and a May 2 Dedication Event,I will believe SOs will begin in early April-seems like they have to to meet that schedule.:)

I reached out to a friend who is an Operations Learning and Development facilitator in Magic Kingdom. Training begins on April 13 with an assessment on April 20.

Edited to add:
Cast Members that were reported to have ridden the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at this time are limited only to Fantasyland Leadership Team, select Magic Kingdom Operations & Learning Development Cast Members, operating participants employed by the construction team, select imagineers, and some members of the Magic Kingdom Executive and Leadership teams.

April 13, the first day of training, will be an orientation for Fantasyland. Cast Members that have not been trained for Magic Kingdom operations previously will also have a Magic Kingdom park orientation class, "Once Upon A Time... is Now."

Cast Members will four days of training over a six day period with two days off. There will be multiple facilitators and trainers, each with a small group. After those Cast Members finish their assessments on April 20, the attraction may or may not experience dress rehearsals. It will probably be a day of running the attraction and getting used to working as a team.

Training sessions will be longer than normal sessions in order to simulate alarms on the operating control panel so Cast Members will have real experience in case of intrusions, faulty sensors, evacuations, ride stops, guests with disabilities, etc.

I hope this helps some confusion.

It this turns out to be true, I will be so disappointed. My sister and I are going over Spring Break, and our trip ends April 19. We were already bummed that we were missing Anna and Elsa at Princess Fairytale Hall by one day (we did see them in Norway in December, but really wanted to see them again!), and now we might miss this by one day too?!? :sad2:

The consolation though is that we do know we'll be back. We will always go back. But we just don't know when. After this trip, we might have our longest break between trips that we've had in a while, since we've been 3-4 times in the last year.

You're welcome and thanks again for the awesome info!:)

I also noticed that Disney Parks Planning has posted these same dates.https://twitter.com/andydisplanning/status/447417174572163072

My trip starts April 25 so it looks like I will be headed to New Fantasyland as soon as the plane wheels touch down at OIA!:)

Not a problem, I'm always happy to share some information when many guests are curious about how Disney operates.

From my experience, I believe that dress rehearsals/soft openings may start on either April 21 or April 22. I don't think they will start on April 20. There will be the full time/part time Cast Members in the morning/early afternoon and mostly College Program Cast Members in the late afternoon/evening. When one of my prior attractions had dress rehearsals, we had a day of running the attraction without guests, in order to be able to work and communicate as a team. When training, we were all in small groups (like all operations training.) Everyone will need time to get used to the rotation and other issues the attraction will experience. These can be anything from door faults to intrusions to automatic emergency stops.

Cool, looks like my arrival date of April 25 is in good shape.:)

When do you think they will start taking FP+ ressies? Thanks.:)

Yup, I've not only heard this hear but from other CMs, another reliable source, and then here. I figure there is some validity behind it. I know that they were hoping to be training CMs around now, but (as it seems more often than not with the construction of this attraction) they fell behind again, so like The Hub pointed out, the April 20 date is still up in the air, but it's the most concrete timeframe they've given so far (not a "well, we're thinking some CM training in March and hoping to be doing softs by the first of the month"). To think they were hoping to get this open by the end of November originally.:rotfl2:

So if we are at MK April 26, 27th and 29th what are our chances of riding. We are not ap or dvc

Thanks

I would think the chances are good if everything is going smoothly.:)

If SOs start April 21,I would think by April 26,they will be trying to run full days or as close as they can to that.:)

Awesome! Thanks! I was scared that we were going to miss it by one day! I will keep my fingers crossed!

We will be at MK April 30th and May 1st, which is supposed to be during the media event. Will the ride be open to the public during this media event??

We'll be there 4/20-4/27. We've got three and a half days at MK planned - here's hoping the the 7DMT can be part of them!

~Thanks for the update. I really hope Disney does soft openings in April for the mine train. I don't know of any other new attraction where Disney opted not to have soft openings. That would be so special and a huge surprise for park guests! :goodvibes

~Disney just posted new pics of the mine train on their blog -- I posted them on another thread but I will post them here too!
