April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

thanks for the info. I have now booked a car. I am a little nervouse cause we arrive at MCO at midnight which means driving late and in the dark. If you don't see me on the ship call out the guards!;)

We are arriving at MCO at midnight on Friday also. Are you driving to the port? We're going to the Country Inn and Suites. It's really a pretty easy drive from the airport to Cocoa Beach. It's well marked and a fairly direct route.

OK, I"m so late in joining up, sorry! We are cruising April 19th, cat 12 GTy, so far no update on cabin #, but I'll post when I hear something. We are Karen, Pete and two boys, Shea and Tommy, 10yrs and 6yrs. Last time we cruised the Magic was in 2004 with boys aged 6 and 2, so looking forward to more freedom this time around. The latest is that I'm so excited that College Road Trip will be playing on the cruise as I am a huge Donny and Osmonds fan. I was thinking of a door magnet with something about Donny, but my family begged me not too. I'll bring my Donny T-shirt and that's about as wild as it gets.

Nice to meet all of you,
:woohoo:

Denise,

I have finally got our family picture to email you, but I haven't been on the board in a week and there are too many posts to go through to find your email address again. Would you please re-post it?:flower3:

Welcome to all the newcomers! pirate:

Welcome Karen and Family! Too funny about your Donny t-shirt...wear it...maybe with purple socks! Everyone is entitled to do one thing their family feels is obnoxious once in a while! You will soon find out that we are a lively group...with LISTS! Joan (4newtocruise) is the keeper of the main info list...family names, home town, cabin number, main vs. late seating etc. Hypermommy (Denise) is in charge of what else...the HYPER list...list of excursions, spa, palo ressies, walking group, cognac and cigar group etc...

A couple of things planned for our group:
Friday 4/18 Pre-cruise Meet Dinner at FISHLIPS..I believe at 6 or 7pm...restaurant on the water in Cape Canaveral
Saturday 4/19 DIS meet in Promenade Lounge 2pm
FISH EXTENDER exchange..if you would like, please sign your family up to participate in a little gift exchange to be left in fish extenders by cabin door...small token gift to the cabin/members of the cabin
YANKEE SWAP..to take place during DIS Meet 4/18 2pm...Here where I live it is called a chinese auction..bring a gift, get a gift...10 dollar limit...cruise or disney or hometown related...wrapped gift exchange in order of number drawn..fun part is that you can take a gift that another has gotten and openned on their turn and you can also loose your chosen gift to another as well. (someone will have the link to the post that explains this better...are you there Hypermommy?)

Where in NJ are you from? We are from the Hudson Valley in NY..1 north of NYC. There are quite a few tri-state families on the ship! Welcome again! By the way, are the movies for our trip posted already? I thought it was too early to tell.

Hi All....rainy saturday here in NY! Enjoying some quality PJ time today! My fish extender is complete except for dowel and ribbon to hang it on. I am very pleased and impressed with myself...If I may so brag! ...maybe I will sign on to photobucket and I will post a pic...is it hard to do? My photo storage/sharing program is PICASA and when I do a link to a pic, you get all 4000 of them.

RE: FISHLIPS...did we decide on a time? What are your feelings? I am thinking 7pm is better than 6pm. What do you think? I will be making reservation soon. By the way...please make sure you have made your decision known about the restaurant meet. We are a big group and I want them to be able to accomodate us. Thanks all.

Joan: you did day Rebecca is doing the Lab (8 to 12), right? Emily wants to be with Rebecca but also wants to do the club because she is familiar with it...she is not the most outgoing when it comes to new experiences. Maybe she will change her mind once we are on board. Emily has been reciting the crazy funky junky hat thing since that night at the mall! I think she even has the hand movements down too! Guess what we will be hearing onboard!

Talk with you later.
Michelle

I got the following information from the general discussion boards. If you call 888-325-2500 and ask for reservations, someone there can tell you what movies are playing on your Disney cruise. Someone called and posted that for the April 5th cruise this is the line up. I am thinking College Road Trip still for 4/19 since it just came out.

College Road Trip
Dan in real life
Enchanted
National Treasure 2
Priates OTC at worlds end
Ratatouille
Underdog
Wild Hogs

Hope this is helpful! I love the movie theatre on the ship! Can't wait to see the new big screen up top.

We are arriving at around midnight (not sure, 11:30?) at MCO and then staying at the Residence Inn (marriott points). So I guess I will miss the pre cruise meets but will try to meet everyone on the cruise or in the wait area to board. Last time we had flight delays and terrible anxiety so this time we will be bright and early! We have late seating and I somehow lost my Palo reservation on the Disney website so I'll be trying to get a brunch reservation once we board. We don't have plans for excursions except we plan to stay on the ship in Grand Cayman as we have done all that before. (Vacationed there last year)

Keep me in the loop:goodvibes

Hulamom-glad you booked your car

Daisy5115-Welcome from a fellow NJ cruiser(Monmouth County) and thanks for the movie list.

Has anyone ever had t-shirts signed instead of pillow cases? How did they come out?

What is included in the Cozumel Wyndam all inclusive day? I am thinking about the Paridise Beach day, on our own,:woohoo: but not sure how many cruise ships are in port that day and how crowded that beach may get. I know there once was a link for cruise ships in each port. Does anyone have it? I'll do a search and try if no one does.
A note about airfare, we are flying out of Newark, we checked for months and finally decided to pay almost $500 each for round trip to mco. (we are saving by taking cat 12 and no excusions.) We had to take a 9pm return flight, so my DS, 10yr old will get his wish to go on Rock and Roll Roller coaster since we will spend the day at MGM while waiting.

Hi Michelle

Fishlips time-whatever you will get is fine with us.Personally I think you´re right,7 is better than 6.
Just let us know when we should be there.
Take care
Conny:flower3:

Daisy5115-We have a 9pm flight too to Atlantic City, but our friends are on a Continental flight at 9p to Newark. We were going to do Animal Kindgdom that day but are trying to figure out what to do with the luggage as I don't want to leave it all in the minivan rental. I am thinking of getting a room at DTD or Pop just to keep luggage, go back and shower/rest. What are your plans?

If you are looking for a beach day on Cozumel, I have a suggestion - Nachi Cocom Beach Club. You can either do an all-inclusive day at $49.00 pp $29.00 for kids 12 to 17 and $12.00 for kids 3 to 11 or just pay admission at the gate ($20.00 for adults, not sure what the kids price is). They limit each day to 100 cruise passengers so you know it won't be crazy crowded. They are on the beach but also have a pool, hot tubs, and plenty of shade. Motorized water sports are an extra cost.

It's about a 10 -15 minute taxi ride from the port. We haven't been to this exact place, but we did go to their similar Beach Club in Costa Maya and it was a wonderful day. I posted on the forum board asking about Nachi Cocom and got great reviews, so I booked it.

Do a google search for "Nachi Cocom" and you can see their site, with lots of photos. You book the package through cozumelcruiseexcursions.com. or just take a taxi from the port and pay at the entrance. I was sort of leaning toward just paying the day's admission (we aren't big drinkers) but after reading all the posts I decided to go for the package. You can get "fancy drinks", bottled water, sodas, etc as well as all kinds of food. When we went to the one in Costa Maya, the waiters were superb - you never wanted for anything from the comfort of your lounge chair!

If we get a group interested in going we could get a van and save a bit on the taxi fare! :beach:

I always have photo mat signed. I have done the pillowcase and the t-shirts and they don't wash well. Basically once you wash them they fade.

RE: Signatures on different items... We did a canvas bag, pillowcase, t-shirt and a photomat. Everything looked great when we got it. Bright and colorful and full of signatures..over 25! I bought a set of bright mini-sharpie markers that had little hooks on the cap and put them through a book ring/key ring and handed that in with the rest of our items to be signed. The colors were great..they had turquoise, melon orange, magenta, lime green...about 7 or 8 different bright unusual colors. We haven't used the cavas bag...will use it on our trip next month, my daughter refuses to use the pillowcase because Captain Hook signed where her head would rest and she doesn't (well she didn't at the time, don't know about now) like Captain Hook and stupid me, I pointed that out to her so it has never been used and never been washed, the t-shirt which she has worn and now is faded and kind of dingy looking so she just sleeps in it (Yogi is right!) and the photomat. Of all these things, the photomat is my absolute favorite, by far! Love it!

RE: Movies...saw College Road Trip last night...absolutely adorable. An A+. My dd7 and I both laughed and cried! I was hesitant a little, thinking it might be a little 'old' for my daughter (remember talking about that Joan!), but it wasn't. And it is definately a movie parents will enjoy as well.

Thanks Daisy for posting the info about the movies onboard. Lots of good ones for kids and families! Funny, wild hogs was being shown on board when we were there in March 07. Wanted to see it, never made it...actually never saw a movie at all, all week long! So I am putting a movie on my list of things to do and see while onboard..right along side of sunrise and sunset!

Enjoy the tailend of your weekend everybody!
Michelle

Has anyone thought about what they are going to pack for clothing? :confused3 I don't know how cold it gets at night and didn't know if I should pack many long pants or jeans, or a jacket at all.
What do people wear to the restaurants, besides formal and semi-formal nights. Can you wear shorts or do you need to wear a dress? Does any one know as I am trying to plan what I need to buy.
Thanks everyone.
Angie:cool1:

Thanks for the replies about the t shirt signing. Yogi, love your mat, will absolutely be doing one.

Angie- I have been putting stuff aside to pack and making lists. We have never done a cruise before, but I am bringing capris and some cotton skirts for the other evenings. I am not sure if shorts are allowed in the dining rooms, I'm thinking they are not, but I'm sure someone here can help.
