April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

OK, just checked with DH, we are on a 5:15pm flight 4/18, so not getting in at midnight.
Karen, I thought about the beach you are talking about but the boys saw the beach climbing thing on the Disney Cruise Video and I think they would love to have "toys". That would make my day more relaxing too. Last time we went to Mr. Sanchos and that was great, but I'd like to try something new and I don't hear anything about Mr. Sanchos so maybe it's gone? I've been to Chaancanob (sp) with my girlfriends a few years ago, so that's been done too. Thanks for the info, that's on the short list if it looks like Paradise Beach is going to be crazy. Still checking. Wyndam info?
Oh, and for the Jersey people, I live in Clifton.:flower3:

Has anyone thought about what they are going to pack for clothing? :confused3 I don't know how cold it gets at night and didn't know if I should pack many long pants or jeans, or a jacket at all.
What do people wear to the restaurants, besides formal and semi-formal nights. Can you wear shorts or do you need to wear a dress? Does any one know as I am trying to plan what I need to buy.
Thanks everyone.
Angie:cool1:

Hi Angie,
I would say take a light jacket, something for "going out" and a light sweatshirt for hanging around or even in the morning. If you are like me, you will find you need something on your arms. I get cold alot!! As for pants, you might want to pack a couple pairs of dress pants and a pair of jeans. Many wear black pants and a top the other nights. The jeans may be good for the clubs. Shorts aren't really worn to dinner, but capris definately are. For the most part, you are in bathing suit and shorts everyday. I always pack too much, so try to have a few different outfits out of a couple pair of pants. Also, people aren't "dressed up" all the time, casual is fine too! Don't stress, have fun getting ready!!

Colleen

Hi all,

I haven't had time to get on in a while. It's been a crazy last few days. Sometime last week (Wed or Thur) I decided to move my site to another host. Just wasn't happy with the responsiveness of the host I did have. So I signed up with the new host and sent an email to the old host asking them to close my account effect 25 March. Guess what? They closed it right away! :headache:  :sad2: Well, that's the type of thing that had gotten me to not like them over time, so I guess I should have known it was going to happen. But that means that I've been scrambling to get the site back up and haven't had a chance to get on here or even watch Lost.

Tinkified: How's Emily this week?

Joan: I got your post on page 122 (and I'm posting the page number here so I can re-find it later on). I will get Tyler's cert re-done with your wording. Thanks for giving me something that will work. I want him to be really happy. It's probably gonna be at least tomorrow or so before I can get to it.

Welcome Daisy5115! :welcome: Donny Osmond is in College Road Trip? Haven't seen it. Should be fun to watch it on board :-)

Mass-cateer, my email addy is hypermommy@comcast.net. Send the pic on... can't wait to see it.

See.... MassDisLovers is as hyper as I am :-) She went and found the post. Very easy to post on photobucket. I wanna see that FE! :-)

I haven't seen Ratatouille, Wild Hogs or Nat Treasure 2 yet.... hope those are still playing. Thanks for the movie list!

Re Fishlips: either time is good for me, but 7 might be just a bit better.

Okay... the updated hyperlist will be the next post. Then I gotta get back to work (and get the forums working on my website.... that's all that's left).

Hi there..

Are there dates and times for:

Bahama Mamas Walking Deck 4 (and being rewarded with Bahama Mamas)

Cigar and Cognac in the Cove Cafe

We are arriving at around midnight (not sure, 11:30?) at MCO and then staying at the Residence Inn (marriott points). So I guess I will miss the pre cruise meets but will try to meet everyone on the cruise or in the wait area to board. Last time we had flight delays and terrible anxiety so this time we will be bright and early! We have late seating and I somehow lost my Palo reservation on the Disney website so I'll be trying to get a brunch reservation once we board. We don't have plans for excursions except we plan to stay on the ship in Grand Cayman as we have done all that before. (Vacationed there last year)

Keep me in the loop:goodvibes

See you at the Residence Inn!:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone and Welcome to the Thread!

I haven't been on because my BRAND NEW computer I got last month died. They think the mother board went! They just don't make things like they used to! Anyway, I'm not sure when I will be able to update the spreadsheet. If anyone has time, feel free! I appreciate it. If not, no big deal, I'll do it hopefully soon. I'm now borrowing a friends lap top so I may be able to do it tonight. ;)

Denise, that's in advance for Tyler's birthday wish.

Michelle, Rebecca as of now, is still going to the lab. Like you said, once we get closer, she may change her mind. Did you say, once she goes to the lab, she can't switch?

OK, just checked with DH, we are on a 5:15pm flight 4/18, so not getting in at midnight.
Karen, I thought about the beach you are talking about but the boys saw the beach climbing thing on the Disney Cruise Video and I think they would love to have "toys". Oh, and for the Jersey people, I live in Clifton.:flower3:

I just looked it up, Mr Sancho's is still there. We went in Feb 05', it was great and very cheap. Corona's and Margarita's were great.

Joan: I believe that once you are registered at the club or the lab in person, it is a done deal. The kids get a bracelet and I think that ID's them as far as placement goes. But then again, they are so flexible with families and children's wants and needs, they may switch a child around who is unhappy or if a parent requests it. I think you just can't keep flip floping back and forth. Anybody else have some insight to this with the 2 programs?

Hey Pacdaddy, I love where you are going in 2009 as stated in your signature! That is great! Very clever.

Denise: I have been wondering where you have been. Hope you get everything up and running for your site. Emily is much better now. Back to work and school for us today!

Angie: Ditto as to what Colleen said about the clothing and packing! We stayed in our bathing suits most days, all days and changed for dinner! There is a great thread at the beginning of the main cruise thread..I think it is a cruise FAQ and there is an ultimate packing list on there for reference.

ALL: Did you guys hear about the rough week the magic just had? Not just one but a couple of engines out, delayed arrivals, no cc, terrible seasickness. Any thoughts about the repairs and the time it takes to get everything up to par? My husband is a Navy man and he says that they would have engine issues all the time and repairs are done quickly while in port. Supposedly repairs were to be done in ST. Thomas, but according to reports, it doesn't look like it was done. I just hope everything is up to par come April 19th. Can any one offer insight or a voice of experience?

One more Monday down, guys! Have a great night. Michelle

Michelle,
I'm sorry for not showing concern for your DD, I really have been concerned! I did follow along to the updates, and I'm so happy she (and you I'm sure too!) is feeling better! It's been rather hectic here with homework and basketball playoffs, which sadly:sad2: I have to say, Jakes' team lost.
Again, I'm Happy everythings better, and now you can get a good nights sleep!!:flower3:

Hi to Everyone!!!!!

Colleen

TechJPM: that look great.:) Thanks so much.

We are staying at the Radisson. I think I would rather get in late and sleep more in the morning. Plus, since we are from California it will on be 9pm our time :upsidedow We may pay for it on the first day of the cruise! But then what do we have to do but play, play, play!!!

Michelle & Joan,
What I've heard is that they do ask you to choose one or the other (club or lab), but they will try to monitor them and make sure they're happy and if need be, speak to the parents and have them switched to the other group. There was a great thread started by a DCL kids club CM that has answers to all sorts of questions like these., i'll try to find that link - we'll see if search dig is obedient today:rolleyes:

My DD8, will be in the lab (although the club looks like so much fun) so if the girls need someone to pal around with, Jordan's always up for making friends.:flower3:

OK, here's the threadhttp://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=751585

Hi everyone, we will also be sailing on 4/19. I have a couple of quick questions...First my DS12 is already giving me a hard time about the going into the kids clubs. We did the three day last April and he was bored then. He did spend time up on the sports deck and was ok with that. Any suggestions...My DD10 and DS7 can't wait. We had to drag them out last cruise. How do I go about making a door magnet? Is it hard to do? Thanx in advance....:confused3

Greetings all and welcome to the newbies!:welcome:

Michelle - I hope that your DD is feeling better. Like Anty said, lots of flu and other yucky stuff going around. NOT fun!

Angie - Great list of what to to pack from folks. The dining rooms def. are chilly (at least for me!) so I always pack a sweater or 2. Also, I always bring capris usually tan and black so I can interchange tops during the week. With the lower weight restrictions these airlines are imposing now, it's really making it tough to "pack light" - something I certainly dont do! Especially with shoes!! A girl can NEVER have too many shoes ANYWHERE!!!

As far as other tidbits go, I am appalled at the airfare. That was a tough piece for us. We ended up getting a direct flight out of LaGuardia on Delta and then to cut costs, we are taking a conencting flight thru Memphis. We had to leave on Tues. rather than Wed and return home Sun. rather than Sat.; another way to keep the airfare lower otherwise it was over $1,000. Just crazy. I know that the week we are all leaving does warrant a little raise in the cost of airfare, but not to the extent that I've been seeing. Also, we had credit voucher with Delta from a flight screw up from last year and when my DH went to apply them to our current tix, they wouldn't let him because they said that we alreadt purchased the tix. If we wanted to use them, we were to either to go a Delta ticketing office or a TA and let them do the booking. We were not told this when we booked the flight - we were told we couldn't apply the vouchers on-line but that we could apply them by going to a Delta ticketing office. Another way they can get you to pay more for airfare since it changes all the time. So, I'm in the process of writing Delta another nasty letter and I really think this is the last time we will be using Delta which is a shame as we have used them for many, many years w/o incident. Needless-to-say, DH was the one who handled this since the Delta office is NYC and not far from where he works; was NOT a happy guy when he called me from the office. He really tried to be insistent and push Delta, but to no avail. Now I heard on the news yesterday that they expect gas to go up another 30cents per gallon. Rental car stuff we got a decent rate thru a Walmart code found on Mousesavers plus we are arriving on 4/15 so we will be paying obviously a little more - have to get my MK fix!

Also, did anyone else hear on the news last night that there's a big thing with Mexico lately? They mentioned Mexico globally, but the only city they really emphasized was Tijuana which I know is bad to begin with. But they are telling people to not travel to Mexico especially for Sping break; lots of stuff with drugs, kidnappings etc. I thought - that's just freakin' great! I actually really LOVE Mexico; it's my fave port!!! They said if you do travel their to stay in a group and not go off to non-busy areas. This is feakin' me out a little and I'm not one that scares easily.

Well, I can keep going, but I better get back to work! Hope all is well with everyone and we are alomost 1 month away!!! :cool1:

Hi! :welcome:

I know what you mean about your son. Mine is 13 and is the same way. I am hoping since he is 2 years older since our last cruise he will be a little better this time:sad2: The only thing he participated in last time was soccer on CC, but he kicked the ball while playing and it hit a girl in the face so that was the end of that. I see your daughter is 10, so is mine. The good thing is that on the Magic they have a club called Ocean Quest which is for 10-14 year olds, so both my kids can go together which I am hoping it will break the ice for him. She is more outgoing. Since your son likes sports maybe they will meet up during the cruise. Here's hoping for some pixie dust for us. pixiedust:

About the magnets: I found a few picture on the Room Magnet thread and Hypermommy made a great picture titled Shower of Happiness April 19th so I am going to print them on magnetic paper I bought at Walmart and laminate the front of them. I hope this helps.

Does anyone know if you can take towels on the boat when you leave for an excursion, like going to the beach or the dolphin excursion?? That will take some serious space in the suitcase if we need to bring your own.
Thanks,
Angie:confused3

You can take towels with you from the ship they usually have a bin on the way back on the ship to drop them in. At Castaway Cay :beach: they hand you towels as you leave the ship. if you booked your excursions through Disney they give you towels when you check in to your designated excursion.
hope that helps :goodvibes
