April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

I just pre-paid my tips. I figured it would be easier this way. Anyone else do this? I hope they keep track of that, I'm sure they will.

No, we have actually never flown on Southwest before or gone out of MacArthur Airport. We usually fly JetBlue out of JFK but their airfare was ridiculous for Spring Break. My brother-in-law is just going to drop us off and pick us up. How much was your airfare, if you don't mind me asking. I booked the minute they opened and got $295 rt. More than I wanted to pay but $400 less than Jet Blue. The flights are sold out for that day so I assume there will be no dings either. I wish our school district was off too. Probably would have spent the day at Disney then.

We paid $452 and we got them after they were on sale for 5 hrs. Rediculous. However, we switch from jet blue to southwest two years ago. I will have to save $200 a ticket minimum before I go to JFK or LGA again. Wait till you see. It takes longer to buy food at Walbaums then it does to go through Islip. The kids are going to miss the TV, but we don't miss the city airports. It also so much easier to get a ride.:yay:

I had a friend just get back and they did it. They were unhappy because they couldn't lower in case of bad service. I don't think they got any but they also were not on DCL.

I missed that morning the tickets went on sale for Southwest, so we had to
take what we could get. Sachem will have off if we don't use snow days :)

Have you ever used long term parking there at Islip Airport?

quick question for you ...you say you live in holbrook are you a part of the town of islip??? if so you can get a parking permit through the town of islip
for $20 for a one year parking and for $35 for 2 yrs. If you are, call them
and inquire about it all you have to do is fill out a form and make a copy of your registration not a bad deal.

Hi. We are from Brewster. Right next door. I have a lot of good friends in New Fairfield. Are you on the NY border? Near Fairfield Drive? I also have a 7 year old son.
Welcome.:flower3:

lilo62-Is Eden Rock a snorkeling beach too? Thanks for the infoQUOTE]

It's not a huge beach like 7 mile. We didn't even know it was there the first time we went to GC. We started walking down the street and it was " a find" if you will. We saw the sign that said Eden Rock and then the stand and discovered it was a small snorkeling area. It doesn't have coral reefs or anything like that. If your son stays closer to the shore line the water is not of course more shallow. There are no tour guides - you just get in the water and go. There are lots of limestone rocks to snorkel over and small shallow pools to explore. If I remember correctly, it's down the street from where you'd do the Atlantic subs excursion. I think there is a small, casual eats place and there is a stand that rents snorkeling equip. There are steps that lead you into the water. The beach area is very small; I think it maybe had 5-10 lounge chairs on it. You can bring a towel or just sit/lay on the wall. If you PM me your email addy, I can try and send you some pics. Even tho I don't snorkel, I thought it was a pretty cool spot!

I curious too... how do you pre-pay your tips??

Just phone DCL and pay by credit card over the phone. They want 76.00 per person minimum. I said that I would pay the 304.00 now and I would give extra at the time if I felt I had exceptional service. It is just one less thing to worry about or carry extra cash for. I still have to tip on the spot for any service outside the ship, baggage carriers ect.

Was able to change someone to early dinning this morning. One less thing to worry about.

Just bought my plane ticket to head back down for the 3 night Wonder on 05/01/08 then a few days at the Poly. Worked related but should be a lot of fun!

Denice, we are flying out of Philly on the 18th as well, but not till 8 pm. By the time we get to our hotel in the port it will probably be after midnight. :scared1:
