April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

I tried to do this before, typed the whole thing out and then it kicked me off.
so here we go again.

DD turned 17 today and passed her driving test:woohoo:

Hypermommy: Some more information for your list :thumbsup2
Monday: Palo Brunch 11:00
Tuesday: Palo Dinner 8:30

We don't have any excursions for Key West, Cozumel,or Castaway Cay. In Key West we're just planning on walking around and getting something to eat, probably Sloppy Joe's. last time in Cozumel we rented a jeep for the day (40.00) and went to the beach,so maybe we'll do that again although the girls just want to go to Carlos and Charlie's and PARTY! Castaway Cay,I'll be floating in Serentity bay with something wonderful to drink waiting for the lobster and steak to be thrown on the barbi:banana:

4newtocruise; I can't get into the spread sheet,Do I need to have a Google account to access it? :confused3

ndepaola; thanks for the info on the excursion but it says it's 7 hours long, so I think we're skipping that! :scared1:

Denise

Hi all...

Msdisney: Seems we have a "labor day" in common...just 10 years later for me! My daughter turned 7 today! I call my daughter my 1, 2, 3 girl! (1-23..her birthdate!). Regarding the spreadsheet, I do think you need to do an account through google, I believe..it is quick, free and painless....and at the rate this spreadsheet is going..you better access it quick...who knows what we have volunteered you to do on vacation...Didn't we have the MSDISNEY family down for daily laundry duty?:lmao:

Justthat: even though my daughter is 7 she plays with anyone one and everyone...and get this one...she even plays with...eeewwwhhh...BOYS! I can totally even have my daughter take your daughter under her wing so to speak. Emily made soooo many friends in the club and around the pool. No worries...my daughter is a friend magnet. We met Joan and Anty over the summer and the kids were instant friends within minutes...and the kids ranged from 5 to 10 I think...Consider our daughter friends! Consider yourself one of us, consider yourself part of the family, consider yourself well in...Who can name that show tune!

Regarding the excursions and to answer Hypermommy's ?...on my own means doesn't mean no one can join us...it just means that YOU, Hypermommy can't join us!!!! :rotfl: No, Just kidding...it means that I am doing the excursions outside of Disney..I researched and booked them on my own through private companies. We have really lucked out with some unique experiences. In St Thomas last year I paid 75 dollars per person for a private sail and snorkle for just 6 people (ours ended up just being 5..my family of 3 and another couple plus the husband and wife team who owned the boat) for 4 hours. Disney offered same excursion for same price except we would have been one of 100 people on a boat. I just find we get individualized attention, better information and therefore it is more relaxing to us. I roped Joan and her family into the dune buggy trip...it looks like a lot of fun...I even saved her butt on the booking date. While the rest of us are on GC, Joan and her family would have been in Cozumel!

Have a good night all!
Michelle

While I was busy doing a lousy job of singing that show tune, I neglected to say that we are staying at Country Inn and Suites for 4/18 with an arrival @ noonish...there you go Hypermommy...add that one to your list! Thanks! Michelle

Hi everyone,
Hypermommy,
We are neighbors in the bowels-room 2108. I did a lot of research in the selection of this room and I think we will like it down there:woohoo:
Thanks all,
Angie

We are in 2111- nor 4111 like it says on the spreadsheet, so we'll all be close together. On out first Disney cruise we were on deck 2 and loved it. The last couple we've been up on 6 and 7. To be honest, I'm not sure it matters, they're all great! :lovestruc

Joan, I can't access the spreadsheet, the link you posted brings me to a Google homepage. At some point way back you had another link to try. Could you please post that again?
Thanks
Karen

Joan or any other techie: are we supposed to be able to update, add, change info on the spreadsheet ourselves...cause I can't seem to do it. I thought we would/should be able to do it...help a lousy singing girl out, would ya? Thanks

MassDISlovers: our cabins are back to back...we are 2611...

There are quite a few of us down in the aft 2nd deck floor aren't there! Party on deck 2! Some of us won't have to walk far to fill our fish extenders! Lucky us...see Hypermommy..it pays to be in bowels of the ship....actually, the lower you are the less movement you feel...seriously!

Good night...for real, this time...Michelle

I haven't seen the spreadsheet, but I was wondering if any of us have little kids. My daughter will be 4yo and it'll be her first time in the OC so I was hoping I could sorta talk up some other kids, or introduce her to some at the onboard meet. Last year she went to Flounder's, even though she was completely potty trained, because she did not like being in the OC alone. Our son was in Flounder's so she was happy as a clam to go there. I know she'll go to the OC without complaint this time around, but I also know she's not thrilled about it. She woke up one day last week and out of the blue said "Ya know Mommy, I really like Henry's Club better. You know, on the Mickey boat?"

Justhaat - I sent you a PM
Karen

Karen - Again, you're so sweet!

Michelle - Thanks! I'll be sure to talk your daughter up to Madison.

Regarding the vaccinations, it's apparently now standard practice for babies/toddlers to get vaccinated for Hepatitis A so my son has gotten his first shot in that series. I was vaccinated for it in 1997 when I lived in Grenada for a summer, but not sure if that's still in effect or not since it's been almost 11 years. My daughter wasn't vaccinated for HepA since it just became part of the standard set and we won't be getting her vaccinated for it. I guess we could, but I don't know how necessary it is and she does NOT likes shots. And I'll add, my husband is a physician and the biggest germophobe you'll ever meet and he never even thought about it so I'm guessing we'll all be fine.

And I know I'm a bit behind cause I just looked at the spreadsheet now, but MSDisney, I'm originally from NJ and have a bunch of family in Toms River and the surrounding area.

I need to go to bed. Tomorrow's my son's first day of preschool and I'm so nervous about it. I thought it was supposed to be easier with the 2nd kid!?! Oh, and because I'm sure it seems strange, yes, he's starting preschool at 18 months. 5 days a week, 3 hours a day. Well, really 4 hours cause he has to wait for my daughter to get out, which is 45 minutes after his class. I know most of the country does not start school this young, but it seems to be the DC thing to do for some reason. I had lots of doubts, and obviously still do since I'm almost in tears at the thought of sending him, but he's just soooo ready to be with other kids. He loves to play with Madison's friends and cries everyday when we drop her off cause he can't stay in her classroom. I know he'll love it, but I'm still so sad about it.

Good info to know there. I feel better now.

I thought it was supposed to be easier with the 2nd kid!?!

Nope... just a different set of feelings. I remember feeling uneasy when my baby started kindergarden but that was becuase it was my baby and it was the last time I'd do the "first day of school" feelings. Heck, I remember a time when he was even younger that I stood in the middle of the diaper aisle at the store almost in tears becuase we'd never need to buy diapers again. Don't get me wrong... I was sure glad he was out of them. But it meant my baby was growing up and I wasn't sure I was ready for that. Of course, he's 12 now and that means we're getting into a lot of things I'm not sure i'm ready for :rotfl2:

I noted where excursions weren't through Disney. The way I'm seeing this list, it'll help folks that are going to be on the same excursion know that beforehand and hook up if they want to (i.e., at the dismeet on sat). Therefore, whether the excursion was the Disney version or not seemed relevant.

Congratulations on msdisney53's DD turning 17 and passing her driving test!! That means msdisney53 is free now and doesn't need to be mom's taxi anymore!!

There are so many things I want to do on CC but the idea of just relaxing in Serenity Bay with a drink and lobster and steak like msdisney53... ahhhhhhh that does sound really, really good.. I'm going to have to squeeze some of that time in. Hey, does anyone know how often the tram runs back and forth to Serenity Bay and how long it takes?

Tinkified -- you're a hoot!!! Name that Tune: From Oliver and the Artful Dodger and the boys sang it to Oliver. What's it called? "Consider Yourself"? And I'm going to "haunt" your excursions just on GPs. Good thing you saved Joan from trying to figure out how to get the GC while the ship is in Cozumel. :rotfl2: I can see her singing, Dory-style, to her family... "Just Keep Swimming...."

Okay, here's the list

Woo hooo!!!!! Welcome, Colleen!!!!!!!!!

I'm the resident psycho but everyone's been kind to me. :rotfl2: I either don't have a life or am just way to excited about the cruise, probably a bit of both. Have you had a chance to read back a few pages and see the excursion list and hear about the spreadsheet and the graphic and ... and... and? Let me ask it a different way... how many pages back have you had a chance to scan?

But even if you haven't, no big deal. Somes of us are meeting up the night before the cruise. Many of us are letting Joan know where we're going to be staying the night before (if we get in that day) and what time we expect to get in. I'm keeping up a list of who'all's doing what excursions (so that folks can hook up if they want to). We're having a DISmeet onboard on Saturday 19 April at 2pm in the Promenade Lounge. You can get in on the fish extender exchange if you want to. We're still sort of up in the air about the Yankee Trade, aren't we? I like the idea of trinket presents, but I think the group still nedds to decide. We came up with a nickname for the cruise and have a graphic for it if you're interested.

Whew! We've done a lot in the past few weeks. C'mon y'all ... what am I forgetting?
