Ok, so NH Lady and I are looking for ideas in Grand Cayman. We did Stingray City during our last visit, although DS was a bit young (6) and spent all his time on the swim platform on the boat, so we were thinking of the Turtle Farm and the Pirate Adventure Boat with the 2 kids (DD will be 11 and DS will be 7). Any recommendations from those who have done these? Is there something else that should not be missed in GC? We liked this island a lot. Both DW and DD want to spend more time in town visiting the shops  (Can't blame 'em...got some great souveniers and a couple of very good cigars here last time.) :thumbsup2
Anyways, would love to hear from others for ideas.

Thanks, and fairwinds....

I was just there in October. Due to the exchange rate is was about $1.25 US to there dollar so no big bargains.
They have really expanded the Turtle Farm. Now the have a pool and lounge chairs. You pay more and get a different color wristband that allows you acess to these new areas. There is also a Predator Reef. Check out their website; http://www.boatswainsbeach.ky/
Saw two pirate ships but we did not go on them this past trip.

Thanks, Yogibigdog...the link was helpful! We'll probably head over to the Turtle Farm...anyone else know about the Pirate Adventure Ship through Disney?

Fairwinds...

Is anyone else staying at the MCO Hyatt the night before the cruise? Just curious, I know a lot of people are staying near the port.

In April we are staying near the port at the Country Inn and Suites.

I am staying at the MCO Hyatt before I go on the Wonder this weekend .:woohoo:

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Just got back from sunny Florida. It was beautiful! It makes me want to go on the cruise even more. It was hard to resist the temptation to go to Orlando but we stayed away and spent time with family.

Welcome all newcomer's! Boy, your right, the ship is FULL! I'll work on updating the spreadsheet this week.

My excursions are booked - Nativeway Land and Stingray tour in Grand Caymen and the Dune Buggy's in Cozumel. I'm still nervous about doing it on my own - but you all give such great advice!

Oh - anyone else's child want the Nintendo Wii for Xmas? I stood on line at Toys R Us this morning at 4:30AM! I must be crazy! I got one though!

Happy Cyber Monday!

We are driving down, leaving brite and early on wed am, should be there thursday afternoon. Staying in Rocky Mt NC wed night. I booked all star sports for thursday & Friday nights. I had thought about going over to the port friday night, but we are planning on hitting the parks (MK at least) on Friday, so if we are staying at all star, we don't have to worry about heading to the coast that night, we can just head back to all star.

Since the kids don't know about either the cruise or the side trip to Disney, we decided to do the parks after. We're staying until Tuesday morning, that gives us Sat, Sun & Mon to do the parks. Haven't decided where to stay yet, in the park or off site. Last time I stayed at Downtown Disney and it was pretty convenient, but the rates are almost as much as the Disney hotels right on the monorail for those few days. Saturday night is the only pricey night! Guess I got to decide soon!

Looks like I miss a lot without any email updates...

4newtocruise - we got a wii last year and the kids still play it at least once a week. We actually get the most use out of the sports games that come free with the wii.

wdhinn89 - we were looking into Hyatt, but now it's up in the air. not sure yet.

yogibigdog - what's the 2 day Gem to NY out of Boston?

yogibigdog - what's the 2 day Gem to NY out of Boston?

The Gem is the new ship from Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). It was just built and is doing a Trans Atlantic and coming into to Boston. There is a two night cruise out of Boston Dec. 15. Then there is a two night cruise out of NY where there will be a christening ceremony for the ship.

Have a great trip on the Wonder! Safe Journey and we'll hear from you next week! Wish we were there too!;)

no, not with seasickness but with envy about you Yogibigdog! Have a great time and tell Mickey that the Taggarts of NY are counting the days until we sail on the Magic. Safe Journey!

I am thinking of getting a jar and putting a jellybean or m&m in for each day left for our trip starting January 1st and eat one a day as a way to count down.

What a great idea...of course, I'd give to DS to eat. That could be his thing to do before bed....hmmm...something to think about:rolleyes:

Ok, I'm a little nervous...anyone ever stay at AS Sports?? Everyone is so negative about it on the resorts board.

I have wanted to stay at one of the allstars for my oldest, I think the themeing is great. I know the room is going to be small and don't think we could stay more than 2 nights...due to the space. But I booked it for the 2 nights before the cruise... We usually stay at Moderates and have stayed at the Poly, as well. Please tell me that it isn't as bad as I've read. We will be driving down, so we'll be using our own car to get around.

TIA!!

Look at the size issue as a way to get used to the size of the stateroom- so it's not such a shock going from a large hotel room to the cabin.
I've never stayed at ASports, but we did stay at Movies and POP before we became DVC owners. The value resorts are fine, especially if you're there to hit the parks before the cruise and are using the rooms for what they are intended - sleep. I'm sure your son will really get a kick out of the decor.:goodvibes
