April 17, 2011 on the Dream

How long does dinner take at Palo? I have a 6:30 res., will I be able to make my 8:30 seating for dinner with the kids?

If you let your server know you want to be out by a certain time, they can speed things up a bit for you. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the well wishes everyone, I'll pass them along.

ugggggghhhhhhhhh!!!! Cass, wrote that it was a LE vinylmation for just the Dream and limited to 1,000!! They will not be there when we get on the ship! Back to bidding! :headache:

That was a good idea DebT! I am not the only one after these things apparently!

I guess it will depend on when he has the operation whether or not he will be able to ride the Duck. I would think by then he will be fine, he's looking at one of the last 2 weeks of March to get it done. The doc is very picky on what you can and can't do, which is good. When I had the same surgery on my wrist he kept me out of work for 8 weeks and I was only working part time at the Disney Store. We're thinking he'll keep DH out at least 10 weeks if not 12 weeks since he does stocking full time, 6 nights a week, for a grocery store. He has a ganglion cyst that needs to be removed and it's on the bottom of his knuckle, which will need to be replaced at some point. Yes, he has major problems with his hand.

I really hope that your DH is OK and that they can fix things for him. Gee while they are in there couldn't they just replace the knuckle saving him the task of two surgeries. I am sure you both have already considered that. I have had many surgeries and so I tend to think of these things;)
Anyway I wish you both all the best for a safe and speedy recovery. Wendy:thumbsup2

JillJill, I have ganglion cysts on my ankle and one in my wrist - they don't affect me though, so nothing has ever been done like surgery. Hope this is a very minor easy surgery for him. I would think he should be riding the aqua duck by cruise time!! :goodvibes

Sending fast healing wishes to him!

Where'd we all go?? :confused3.

I'm outbid town for a few days in sunny San Antonio and was hoping to see our normL chatter......

My dh just told me that a friend of his, who is sailing this coming Sunday, just got upgraded to a one bedroom suite yesterday!! They had two staterooms booked....lucky them. Wish I was sailing Sunday rather than in April. But we're getting closer.
Now, if I could just find an brunch opening!!!!!

I was wondering the same thing! It's gotten awfully quiet on here. :guilty:

Now that trip reports have been trickling in, tons of photos and videos have been posted, and Navigators are up, I can completely envision the ship and where everything is! :goodvibes I've been working on daily "to-do" plans (notice I did not say lists! :lmao:) because I don't want to miss a thing!!! :) "Hello, my name is Deb T., and I am a Type A Compulsive Over-Planner!" [Hey ~ I'm not delusional... I readily admit to being crazy! :rotfl2:)

I know a while ago we all talked about what we were most looking forward to doing on this cruise. Now that we have actual feedback directly from the ship, let's do it again! And don't worry, I promise not to turn it into a list! :rotfl:

Deb T.'s Top Five Things I'm Looking Forward To Doing/Seeing On The Dream:
1. Riding the Aqua Duck during the day and again at night
2. Seeing the new Animator's Palette "show"
3. Playing Goofy's Putt-Putt
4. Solving both Midship Detective Agency mysteries
5. Experiencing all of the Animated Art throughout the ship

What are yours?

Makes me wonder if DCL needed to fill some GTY cabins and therefore had to sort of condense as many rooms as possible?? In any case, how nice for your DH's friends! We've been on 10 Disney cruises (2 in concierge-level) and the upgrade fairy has never visited us. :confused3 However, I am always happy for those who are surprised with those magical upgrades! :goodvibes

That's what I figured happened...needed those two different staterooms for two different family GTYs. I told dh not to even think about such a thing happening for him!!!

Getting closer, every day. I just can't wait to get to port.

Things I am most looking forward to:

1) Remy's
2) Aqua Duck
3) Enchanted Garden, AP... OK, all of the Restaurants! :rotfl:
4) Extended Balcony
5) Getting to play in the clubs with the kids!
6) Seeing Castaway Cay twice in one week (and my massage in the cabanas)!!!

My top five for the Dream:

1. Watching my youngest experience Disney for the very first time.
2. Watching my oldest go absolutely crazy when she realizes this is the new "Mickey Boat"
3. Getting character photos with two kids this time. Last time we cruised we had only one child.
4. Animator's Palate. I want those chairs for my house!
5. Aqua Duck!
6. Because I'm a rule breaker, I'll add one more. Deck 4, or whatever number it is now for the Dream. My DH still talks about sitting on deck 4 of the Magic - just hanging out, watching the water and relaxing.

Our highs this week are near 60 and man, I have spring fever. I know it's still winter and it could be snowing next week - but for now I'm soaking up the warmth. I have a countdown for Disney and a countdown until it's officially spring. :rotfl:

No chances of him getting his knuckle replaced at the same time. The plastic knuckles that are common for replacement are not strong enough to handle anyone doing manual labor, and the titanium ones that are out there haven't been used long enough to have enough testing done on them for long term manual labor usage. The surgeon will not place his knuckle with something that will not last and/or is not proven. DH was very happy last year when the surgeon told him he was too young for the surgery.

I had one removed from wrist since it was affecting the strength in my hand. Mine was actually going down into the joint so the doc was very happy I had chosen to have it removed before more problems started with it.

I think that with no snow storms to keep us all home bound we are out and about instead of posting, but I'm still thinking of you all!

My top 5 things I can't wait to do:

1. Dinner at Palo's, my mouth is watering thinking of it now!
2. Hopefully getting a brunch reservation
3. Being able to tell everyone on board we get to get right back on the Dream while they have to go home, except for Deb T. :)
4. Sitting on Deck 4 or wherever it is now, and watch the sea go by!
5. Quality time with my family on Castaway Cay, a new family tradition!

Unfortunately, it seems like our DD got flu... :sad2:
